[YT Edit] Ghost (1990)

Comments

Such a good film it’s funny, emotional and quiet gripping

S Elphick

Unlike some of his roles, (including this breakout performance), IRL Tony Goldwyn is a righteous dude! He's an ambassador for The Innocence Project, as well as being faithfully married for 35+ years! Very underrated actor. Scandal fans know him. I know him from this and the Sixth Day w/Ahhnold plus a recurring role in Law and Order: Criminal Intent. He was on everything TV in the 80s, plus more movies like The Pelican Brief and Kiss The Girls, and HBO's From Earth to the Moon. The guy has an impressive resume`! Can't wait to see him in Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer'.

Frank Craven

to me red dawn is even worse or just more forgettable than road house. AVENGE MEEE

CarSVernon .

lolol I think to be fair everyone in Scandal had a scandal

CarSVernon .

I have some issues with it, but I don't hate it. Not sure Cassie would dig it.

Stick Figure Studios

So Stick do you like Red Dawn? I only ask cuz "watchable" is hardly a compliment in my book.

My_Cousin_Mose

Perhaps I might have more affection for it if I'd seen it in my younger, more rebellious, less discerning (and more hungry for copious amounts of gratuitous T&A) days, but Instead I made the mistake of watching it decades later after I had grown up quite and I think nostalgia must blind a lot of people to its wretchedness. Sam Elliott is, of course, terrific as always, but his character is introduced too late, has too little screen time and is given a really stupid exit. Like much of the rest of the film, his presence is a wasted opportunity. Oh, well.

Stick Figure Studios

Oh come on Stick. You really don’t have even a little soft spot for Road House. Beyond it being one of Patrick Swayze’s coolest roles, Sam Elliott is super cool as well. And of course, The Jeff Healey Band as the house band. That never gets old. But, “opinions vary” Totally agree on Point Break though. A Must See. Waiting patiently.

Larry Darrell

However, a Patrick Swayze movie you do have to see (an actual good one) is POINT BREAK. It even has Keanu in it. :)

Stick Figure Studios

Not true. I like Patrick Swayze and I did not like ROAD HOUSE. The guy was great, but even he wasn't above being in a bad movie.

Stick Figure Studios

Awww yeah

Odd Thomas

If you like Patrick Swayze, you'll like Roadhouse. Period.

Odd Thomas

Stick, so just to be clear, you don't have a ROAD HOUSE poster on your wall? ;)

Jason Fulbright

Please ignore all of the comments telling you to watch ROAD HOUSE, Cassie. It is not good. It's not even "so bad that it's good." It's just bad. Really, really bad. RED DAWN is watchable, but I do not think you will like it.

Stick Figure Studios

A movie she will almost certainly hate.

Stick Figure Studios

RED DAWN is watchable, but let me save you a lot of time, Cassie. ROAD HOUSE is a terrible, terrible movie.

Stick Figure Studios

Jesus Christ, no.

Stick Figure Studios

Good suggestion. Cassie, you will likely enjoy AOAAG. You will very likely detest Road House.

Anthony Vawser

So glad to see your reaction to this one. It was such a phenomenon in its day: topping the year’s box office, winning Oscars for Goldberg and the screenwriter, getting nominated for Best Picture, sending Unchained Melody back into the charts… I guess not knowing that Whoopi was an actor means that you’ve not seen The Color Purple. You must. It will wreck you, but in a good way.

Anthony Vawser

You didn’t seem to notice Whoopi Goldberg when she came on screen. She was pretty big in the 90’s… now she’s a boring daytime talk show personality…. But it should be noted she’s one of the few winners of the EGOT… someone who’s won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award… there’s only around 20 people who have done that.

Jeff Milcheck

Really good movie. Man, haven't seen that one in decades. Thanks for the reminder, I might have to rewatch that one myself!

Matt Rose

Carly: Oh fetch, Carl! *looks at Cassie* "You were so right!" (Another guess)

Jon Jon the Milkshake Man

I think she was like speaking for me you know? Like wanting me to say "Great Job Carly! " haha my best guess

Cassie

You two really need to check out: "An Officer and a Gentleman" from 1982. It's gonna check all Carly's criteria for what the movie must contain ;)

Michael_AP

By the way, are we just not going to talk about Carly calling Cassie “Carly” at about 35:50?

Jason Chirevas

Hold it, hold it, HOLD. IT. Watch SISTER ACT immediately.

Jason Chirevas

RoadHouse needs to be next!

David Sumner

"It's amazing, Molly. The love inside, you take it with you."

Christopher Lott

Great reactions. I'm sorry I won't be able to make the premier but please take it from your patrons, you and Carly need to watch ROAD HOUSE and RED DAWN. You will see a lot of young faces in Dawn and ROAD HOUSE is iconic. My brother and I always say when we drive through one of those small rural towns with the few main businesses and that big house that it looks like a "Road House" town and that house is where the Wesley lives. You will so get the reference after you watch it.

Jason Fulbright

Time now for PiB to watch the greatest love story ever told: Road House, all about a man’s love … for beating up other men (don’t worry, they deserve it).

Just Plain Bob

Did you recognise the detective in the police station that was interviewing Molly? It was Milton from Office Space. The bank clerk that Oda Mae and Sam were first talking to is the director's mother and the director is one of the directors of Airplane! I think he also directed First Knight with Sean Connery and Richard Gere and Julia Ormond.

Brian McGovern

Patrick Swazye was great in Red Dawn 1984 (the first PG-13 rated movie) and Roadhouse. Those are not chick flicks, but Ghost is. I've seen it once, that's enough. Whoopi gives a good performance with the comic relief. Also Demi Moore was married to Bruce Willis before Ashton.

Richard Bourne

How about a round of applause for Tony Goldwyn for always being available to play the role of the "dickhead" in your favorite movies. Ghost, The Last Samurai, The 6th Day, The Pelican Brief, Scandal (I didn't watch but can only assume he is the one with a scandal). Not that he can't be a fun sidekick, see "Kuffs" with Christian Slater, or even a solid hero voice as Tarzan in the animated stuff.
