Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) - Full Reaction

Hey guys!! Okay, pulling another audible because when Carly is available I snatch her up to watch a movie!! We watched MI in place of me watching the Hurt Locker which will be up here on Tuesday! Ok Mission impossible, OMG best one yet??! We loved it! Non-stop action but also non-stop surprises and constantly trying to figure everything out!   PS - Everytime we said Julia for the first 80 percent of the movie, we were talking about Ilsa... hope you enjoy!

Mission: Impossible - Fallout (2018) - Full Reaction

made it through 20 before shutting off. Carly is nauseating

Joe

Yes. Cruise is the only actor to do a HALO jump for a movie (High Altitude, Low Opening). Cruise skydived over 100 times in rehearshal. The thunderstorm was CGI, and the Paris below was CGI because United Arab Emirates was the only country to allow filming such a dangerous jump. Rest of it was real, including requiring the extra oxygen. And Henry Cavil didn't jump for real, it was a stuntman. But Cruise did. And yeah there's that much control midair. You fall down at terminal velocity, but you can sort of "fly" where you want, once you learn to control the airflow. Except that you don't fly, but fall. It feels like flying though, not falling. Source, I'm a skydiver

I believe in one of the most recent videos, Carly said they would be doing the next M:I installment in the theater. These great Tom Cruise popcorn flicks were made to be seen on the big screen! :)

Awesome Reaction!! Of all the Mission Impossibles, I think this was the Best Reaction. Rogue Nation & Fallout have been my favorite films so far. I could tell ya'll were into this one ALL the way through. This was fun, Thanks. Carly, I'm sure it was About Time, where you recognized Vanessa Kirby from, since you mentioned her being the friend of someone. That is one of my Top 5 favorite movies from the past twenty years or so. Maybe even All Time. Ya'll were wondering about things that are possible while skydiving. A couple Fun Action films that feature skydiving are Point Break (1991) & Drop Zone (1994). Without watching a documentary, these films give a pretty accurate showing of what someone can do while flying/falling through the air. Lastly, probably an unpopular opinion. I hope ya'll, Cassie & Carly, go see the next Mission Impossible installment, Dead Reckoning, in the theater. But, I also hope, that doing a theater reaction doesn't take away from ya'll seeing the film in the best possible way. If doing a reaction, in the theater, is too much of a hindrance, I would recommend not doing it, and just enjoying the film, without doing a first time reaction. You could then do a 2nd viewing, home reaction, later on, if you wanted. I'm sure that would still be fun. Films were made to be seen in the Theater, on a Big Screen, in the Dark, and with loud Surround Sound, without disturbances. Especially films like Mission Impossible. I am loving all your Reactions, and they are mainly to films that are not possible to see in the Theater now, which makes the whole Popcorn in Bed thing work. Well, that's my 2 cent suggestion. Take it or leave it. I'm sure however you decide to do things, it will be Great. Like Ethan, you know how to make it work. Thanks again, this was Immensely Enjoyable.

I fell asleep, in the theater, during it.

Larry Darrell

Carly getting so hyped during the opening credit montage instantly transported me back to my first watch of this movie. I was pumping my fist so hard when that theme came in.

These MI movies are definitely the best of all the reactions you two have done together :) This one was very good, but I think the last one(Rogue Nation) is still my favorite of the series. The character arcs in this one were great, but the pacing felt sluggish. Some of it was the action sequences, they felt too long, and too "action just for the sake of action". I thought Rogue Nation did a better job with the pacing of things. I do like that we got a sense of closure with Julia, it was one thing to see in Ghost Protocol that she was still alive and seemingly happy, but she & Ethan needed that conversation at the end of this one. And I'm thrilled that we got Ilsa back, she's just so freaking awesome. Rebecca Ferguson is fantastic in the role, and does a great job with her action scenes. I love that they gave Ilsa a fighting style where she uses her legs so much for things besides kicking. Rebecca makes it look so cool when she's leaping on top of someone, tangling them up to take them down, etc. I think besides the pacing the other big thing I didn't like about this one is that the CIA Director should've been eating a LOT of crow by the end, given how much she got in Ethan's way. When she was on the phone with Alec Baldwin's character and went back on their deal, deciding she'd just arrest everybody, ooooo I want to punch her right in the face! We definitely need to get the DC movies on the to-do list! I know some people weren't a huge fan of it, but I absolutely loved Man Of Steel, Henry Cavill makes a great Superman. Plus, it was recently announced that he'll be putting the cape back on again!

Patrick Egan

That kind of thinking has no place in any Ethan Hunt film

Sad

N M

Yeah, don’t…don’t bother with the Snyderverse stuff. Dour, humorless, pretentious slogs that all look like they take place on Mars, for some reason.

Jason Chirevas

Hi Cassie, I'm really glad that you watched this series and enjoyed them as much as I did. Of all 6 movies, I only missed watching M:I-2 (2000) in the theater. As for the rest, I was in line on opening night every time one of these flicks was released. Now that there's sometime before the next two adventures come out, how about giving James Bond 007 a go? There're 26 of them (if you include the the unofficial 1983 outing...the behind the scenes are kinda complicated on this one but I'm sure the 007 aficionados within our PiB community will be more than generous on filling you in on that). Anyways, 26 movies over a period of 59 years (1962-2021) with 6 actors playing the role. What makes them so unique is that you get to watch movies from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and the 2000s, all in one series. I can't recommend them enough. Cheers!

Most unique take on comic films in recent years??? What?? What's unique about them? The washed out color scheme?

granny_goodness

Lol unique is certainly a word to describe those films.

aarswft

If you loved to hate Henry in this, you're going to fall in LOVE with him in his Superman Trilogy (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice: Ultimate Edition and Zack Snyder's Justice League). Would love to see your DCEU journey go in full swing finally. They are probably the most unique take on comic films in recent years and Henry's take on Superman is perfect for this generation. All films are available on HBO Max to make finding them that much easier for you. Since this is like the MCU where there are some films that link between each other, between BVS and Zack’s Justice League, if you haven’t check out Wonder Woman (2017) since there’s a tiny bit of things that connect between em. (Yay bonus movie lol) Glad you loved Fallout, congrats on making it through this series and here's to the long journey till Dead Reckoning parts 1 and 2!!!

Landon O'Leary

I reckon that little tidbit will be never known since no one wants to say lol

Damon

She's an absolute beauty.

Damon

man of steel is a must since you clowned on Superman the movie. lol

Jimmy Reyes

Wow! You guys were on the edge of your seats! Great reaction ladies! You guys were so riveted, that you totally overlooked everyone calling Rebecca Ferguson “Ilsa” like three times before you finally realized her name wasn’t Julia! 😂 Also, tell Carly “The White Widow” was Vanessa Kirby. Carly might know her from one of the Fast and Furious movies, “Hobbs and Shaw”. That was great fun! It’s gonna be quite the wait for the next movie. But I’m definitely looking forward to seeing your guy’s reaction!

Robert da Spruce

If Cassie’s looking for any tv shows to react to, I’d recommend Pushing Daisies and Chuck. Pushing Daisies is a wonderful fairy tale style show wrapped around a love story and Chuck is basically a rom-com masquerading as a spy show.

Just Plain Bob

I saw this in theaters and had to laugh when two helicopters were tumbling together because it was so insane and I didn’t it was my body forcing to release the tension I was feeling for so long .

Sean Stuart

I forgot about that. I also wonder if Carly may have seen Vanessa Kirby play a very spoiled Princess Margaret in “The Crown”.

Ike

I know right. She does what I want to do in the theater when the intro theme music starts. Like “Yes, here we go!!”

Ike

I completely missed that!

Ike

One person mentioned it in a subthread but both of you would have seen Vanessa Kirby (The White Widow) in About Time, where she plays Rachel McAdams' friend Joanna.

Tyler Foster

Maybe from being Jason Stathams sister in Hobbs and Shaw

David Freese

It wasn't an implication it was actually a fact according to the movies creators. A call back to the first movie as you said. They tried to get a call back to each film in this one.

David Freese

Did you catch that the arms dealer was the daughter of Max, the arms dealer from MI:1?

Gabriel L.

You guys haven’t seen the new Superman!!! Oh boy. Something to look forward to!

TinCan Cosmanaut

Great reaction Ladies. Great movie. I love how pumped, Carly was.

Rick Williams

Man of Steel should be watched by everyone just for the visuals and the soundtrack alone!

DaftBasterd

According to her Letterboxd, Cassie has already seen Minority Report.

Tim Raths

Glad you loved it. https://youtu.be/QLFRGj-PPNI in the link tom talks about how he broke his ankle doing the building jump and continued the scene. What a professional. Also another bit with the cast talking about the helicopter scene and a few other things https://youtu.be/fZcQah57jnY

Canadianant

I'm really looking forward to you and Carly watching the DC movies. Henry Cavill was super villainous in this but I think you'll really like him as Superman, and he has more Superman movies in the works now! They get a lot of slack but sort of like the Star Wars Prequels, people are for the most part starting to come around on them. I think because they were much darker in tone than the lighthearted Marvel films at the time, they weren't received as positively by fans and critics but over the years, a much great appreciation has been formed for what Zack Snyder was trying to do. You could just watch one a month and because there are not a ton of reactions to these movies, you'll probably satisfy an underserved fanbase. Here's my suggested watch order: December SUPERMAN II (Christopher Reeve) January WONDER WOMAN February WONDER WOMAN 1984 (good for Valentines Day) March MAN OF STEEL April BATMAN V SUPERMAN ULTIMATE EDITION May SUICIDE SQUAD (for Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Viola Davis) June BIRDS OF PREY July ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE August AQUAMAN September SHAZAM! October THE SUICIDE SQUAD November/December PEACEMAKER January BLACK ADAM February SHAZAM FURY OF THE GODS March THE FLASH April AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM Then you'd be ALL caught up!

Jason Dolan

Minority Report would be a good fill in for you guys while we all wait for mission 7

Eric Wallace

Fun fact, Henry Cavill also played Albert, the son in the Count of Monte Cristo long before he was ever Superman:)

M&M

"Great"

Shehab Dawoud

You're right. That's probably it.

aarswft

I’m pretty sure they are remembering her from About Time, as Rachel McAdams best friend in it.

Cole Jennett

I'm surprised you didn't recognize that Henry Cavill also played a character in a movie you both loved -- Albert, the son of the Count of Monte Cristo!

Michael Jung

When one of you girls asked, can you really have that much control in mid air when they were skydiving? Just know that Tom Cruise does all of his own stunts. If you see it on the screen, he is doing it in real life.

Michael Lynch

This reaction was a blast! I think my favorite is either 4 or 5, but this one is just a hair's breadth away from those. If you are craving for a high octane spy/action movie while waiting for Dead Reckoning Part One, I can highly recommend watching True Lies (1994), directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. After a long hiatus, it is finally available on streaming in the US.

Gábor Árki

Carly had a nice neck crack...good volume. I used to crack mine all the time...then I got into yoga pretty heavy and now I can only crack every once in a while.

Anthony Perez

A fantastic reaction. So glad you ladies finally got to watch this. Knew you'd love it. It is, as you observed, so much fun (as is this whole franchise). Many consider this entry the best. I still prefer the original, but FALLOUT is a close second. So pleased to hear you say you want to do a theater reaction for the next couple M:I movies. You're right. They are made for the big screen. The trailer is actually already out. Do you think you might do a reaction to the trailer, Cassie?

Stick Figure Studios

Definitely watch MAN OF STEEL, but watch SUPERMAN II first.

Stick Figure Studios

And know this: Yes, Tom Cruise did it for real. Every. Single. Time.

Philip Alan

So excited to see this one get posted! Great reaction from the both of you. Not sure that I've ever seen Carly so PUMPED for a movie before! :D You two def need to see the final two MI movies in the theater so you can get the full experience. Also, please make sure to keep the two Jack Reacher movies on your Tom Cruise shortlist of movies to see. Both good action/investigative movies IMO.

Dave Hill

^^THIS^^ - Should just tell her Kevin Costner is in it. Proper motivation and all. :)

Brian Jones

Even more mysterious, that scene was re-shot. Originally, she was singing to the crowd and not talking. If you go back, you can see the people in the crowd moving as if music was being played. WEIRD FACT!

Philip Alan

Wait.. did you guys like it? :)

Philip Alan

Although Henry Cavill is famous as Superman, he's actually been in a movie you've both already watched. He was the son in The Count of Monte Cristo!

AzraRillian

Just think, Rebecca Ferguson (Ilsa) and Henry Cavill (Superman, I mean John Lark, I mean Walker) were both born in 1983, the year Tom Cruise had his breakout movie role in Risky Business!

Mike LL

You can have that much control in the air because they actually filmed that on the air. They did it for real, minis the storm and landing

Eric Wallace

I never cared for the MI series till you guys started watching!!

Collar City Guy

You should definitely watch Man of Steel. The last great Superman film imo

Odd Thomas

I’m looking more forward to seeing your reaction to this than The Hurt Locker anyway so I’m cool with it.

Tim Raths

The action set piece on the cliff with Cruise and Henry Cavill was filmed at Pulpit Rock in Norway, I used to live a few miles from it, amazing views up there. The famous “wedged boulder” called Kjerag is nearby but I never had the nerves to stand on that one 😅.

Wes Stewart

Also, The White Widow's monologue about her mother Max, was the villain from the first Mission Impossible movie. And did Carly watch The Crown? That may be where she recognizes her from.

aarswft

Yeah we definitely need to add The Man From UNCLE to the list now.

aarswft

Nice audible Cassie! Looking forward to watching your reaction tonight! (Might be humming Mission Impossible theme all day! 😂)

Robert da Spruce

ROGUE NATION (the 5th one) is my favorite of the franchise so far but this one is pretty great. Can't wait for the upcoming two parter.

Matt Rose

So ready for you guys to watch Man of Steel... He is an amazing Superman!!!!! When is that comin..?? haha

Brian Landers

The Mission Impossible movies are everything you want when it comes to watching a movie. They are great fun and well made. This one may be the best one yet. Tom Cruise knows how to make movies people want to see

James1035

Anyone else think that though it looks really cool and incredibly hard to pull off, the halo jump sequence is completely unnecessary? From the trailer (one of the greatest ever btw), there was clearly a sequence of them sneaking into the nightclub and I kinda wish we got to see that. It was probably cut for time or could have not turned out good enough. But either way the movie is also long as it is, so maybe trim the jump scene or cut it out entirely. You could essentially remove that whole sequence and it would have literally no effect on the film. Maybe it was one of those decisions where Tom put too much effort into it to just scrap it. Personally I feel it adds nothing to the story and actually makes Cavills character look like an idiot, which makes makes him seem a bit less threatening once the twist comes.

Sahitya

Wow, Cassie does a pretty good Owen Wilson impersonation! 😅😆

Nismo

You may have missed it, but the woman they met at the nightclub, when she is first introduced, she is talking about her mother, Max. Max was the lady with the NOC list from the first movie.

Brian McGovern

Carly! That excitement you felt during the opening theme is palpable and universal. BTW cracking your neck at the end into the mic with my earbuds in sent shivers down my spine! LOL My sister does that to freak me out (it’s cool, still love ya tho). Cassie, how well do you think they tied off the Julia storyline? (she’s happy, in love, and has closure with Ethan and their past). Plus, Ethan has her blessing to continue saving the world. This one was my favorite and it just keeps getting better. For anyone who knows…. Q: *What did Ilsa whisper to Julia in the medical tent before talking to Ethan at the end???*

Ike

Fallout will be hard to top, and yet there are still two more MI movies in the works

JL_83

I gotta say, your sister has been bloody brilliant throughout this franchise in figuring things out. Tell Carly I owe her an apology, I wasn’t really familiar with her game.

Shehab Dawoud

Jeremy Renner couldn't be in this one because he was busy with AVENGERS ENDGAME

Shawn Kildal

I think Carly's current deep dive into JJ Abrams ALIAS series helped prep her for the Mission Impossible movies. She's good at knowing what to expect.

Shawn Kildal

Me: *cocks both arms" I'm ready for this one!

Jason Dolan

Henry Cavill was also the son in The Count of Monti Cristo

mattosh79

And closing out yet another movie franchise (so far anyway). I think we are heading straight towards a James Bond franchise watch along.

Pickupthepieces76

If you have a minute you could do a trailer reaction for Dead Reckoning. Make it a Patreon exclusive, or stick it on the end of the YouTube edit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m1drlOZSDw

DWeber

Also fun fact: Tom broke his ankle during one of the rooftop jumps. It’s in the movie and everything. https://youtu.be/iNT-tPrz4OM

djKENTO

Also I love the implication that The White Widow is the daughter of Max, the arms dealer from the first film. Such a great touch.

djKENTO

I was so happy with this choice. I adore this movie and I’ve been itching for a reason to run my theater through its paces. Ooo we should do a home theater share in the discord.

djKENTO

Excellent decision — new PiB policy: any unwatched TC film can and will be audibled into play at any time

N M

My Friday night movie with Cassie. I really loved this MI. The fight scenes were awesome! Can't wait to watch it again with Cassie 🥰

John Cranberry

I just stare at Rebecca Ferguson the entire time. Lol

William Bryan

Dun. Dun. DUN-DUN! Dun. Dun. dun-dun. So many sleepless nights waiting for this one. Popcorn, Hazelnut Coffee, a frozen Twix bar (2-for-me-none-4-u) and M:I-Fallout with the PIB gang. Let’s go!!!

Ike

So much looking forward to this. Nice surprise.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

For this one Cruise "just" learned how to fly the helicopter on his own performing some aerial stunts with it: https://youtu.be/Um0aZKbpe1Y And not to forget he also performed a HALO (High Altitude Low Open) skydive jump from almost 8 km height: https://youtu.be/2BnOebsDtAQ

Gábor Árki

Whoop whoop! I was wondering when this would appear! Looking forward to watching this this evening!
