Hey guys,
Phew, October was a whirlwind of zombies and thumpers and blood and hobbling and graveyards and while it was quite the ride, I am happy its over. For some reason someone (who is not a parent I am guessing) decided that the week before Halloween would have every day be a different dress up day at school, so we are all done with costumes for a very long time!! My house looks like an actual bomb went off, same with my car actually, I haven't been to the gym in two weeks, and forgot about my sons basketball game yesterday THAT I AM THE COACH OF! haha So this week is operation get my life in order! November seems like a perfect fresh start for that ;)
I love November, still fall, count it! I can start feeling tingles of festiveness and it just seems like a cozy month doesn't it?
Coming up this week we have Ghost my October PPOTM, finally the Classics Bracket winner The Great Escape and The Veterans/Remembrance Poll Winner which I am really looking forward to. Remember I am already watching "The Best Years of our Lives" which is why its not on the poll :)
It is also the World Series this week! right? Go Phillies! Go Rocky ;) So I think that calls for a baseball poll! I will release that on Friday when the other poll is ending!
I have some really good stuff coming in November! The Godfather, District 9 (2010 Oscar Noms Poll winner) , MI6, starting The Queens Gambit, and Carly and I will start LOTR towards the end of the month!! I can't even wait!
ALSO SAVE THE DATES:
WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 9th PATREON POP QUIZ TRIVIA NIGHT @6PM MST
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 12th YT LIVE PACKAGE OPENING AND CHATTING @3PM MST
I will post some flyers and reminders leading up to it :)
You guys are the very best there is :)

Hahaha. Typical lawyer talk. Twisting words. There is a huge difference between being racist and stereotyping. Lol
William Bryan
2022-11-06 14:43:42 +0000 UTCSo you're basically admitting that you're a racist. Wow, you really are something. At least you're honest and people can see what kind of "human" you truly are.
Shehab Dawoud
2022-11-06 14:03:13 +0000 UTCOh there are a lot of racist people out there, fat, old, bald, skinny, rich, poor, white, black, handsome, ugly, etc. Racism has existed since the dawn of mankind and will continue until it's demise. To think it doesn't exist is fantasy. But hey man I know I'm old, fat, and bald. They've called me fat and I just put my hand on my stomach, rub it a little, and say "yep I've got a lot of money invested in that puppy."
William Bryan
2022-11-06 13:49:22 +0000 UTCWell, I'd like to think that not many people are as ignorant and bigoted as you. What about you, though? Do people come up to you and tell you how old, fat, and bald you are? Is that where your frustration comes from?
Shehab Dawoud
2022-11-06 13:41:13 +0000 UTCJust because people don't mention it to your face doesn't mean they're not thinking it
William Bryan
2022-11-06 13:34:13 +0000 UTC@William Bryan No one associates me with anything like that. In fact, you're actually the first one I've come across in my life to even mention anything close to that, which speaks to what a racist/xenophobic/Islamophobic/whatever you wanna call it, piece of s*it you are.
Shehab Dawoud
2022-11-06 13:26:53 +0000 UTC@Richard Maurer Cassie has never reprimanded me. Where do you get that from?
Shehab Dawoud
2022-11-06 13:23:53 +0000 UTCWith a name like that he probably just get annoyed with people associating him with men who fly aircrafts into buildings.
William Bryan
2022-11-04 22:39:09 +0000 UTCNope. I have not seen the Sopranos. Heard all about it though. Most of my TV watching is Pre-1995. Once Full House ended, I just didn’t see the need to continue with a dying medium. So Please, Have Mercy!
Larry Darrell
2022-11-04 21:09:32 +0000 UTCIs it just me or has Shehab been on a mission to annoy everyone lately? Even Cassie had to reprimand him in a comments section recently.

2022-11-04 14:35:49 +0000 UTCgee-wiz, sounds like you've had quite the handful going on, sorry you went through all that, hope you'll be able to get things back in order soon, best of luck! speaking of Halloween season, it sure has been one heck of a ride, for certain my favorite reactions you've done during October are "Sleepy Hollow", "TREMORS", A Nightmare On Elm Street", "Young Frankenstein" and "Frankenstein (1931)" I've enjoyed each and every one of those immensely, they were fun and hilarious to watch, thanks for making my Halloween memorable lol! November is a cozy month indeed, I'm loving the cold right now, plus my buddy's birthday is Saturday, he's Canadian BTW😁lol! I will admit "Ghost" isn't exactly one of my favorite movies, but it is a good one nonetheless, not to mention that it scared the crud out of me when I was a kid, and I think you probably know why lol! "The Great Escape" won eh, nice! that is a classic, I will warn you, the main theme will get stuck in your head easily, it always does for me lol!🤣 sorry, I'm not into baseball as much as I was when I was kid, I prefer football these days lol, if you eventually do get to watching more baseball movies, I highly recommend "Rookie of the Year" that movie is hilarious, reminds me of my pre-teens with my friends lol! unfortunately I won't be able to make it for your Live Package and Chatting stream on Saturday the 12th, I'll be at work😭 fortunately though, my package that I'm putting together for you will be there around Christmas time, and if you plan on another live stream, I will for sure be there for it, that's a promise!😁👍 and did I read that last part correctly, you and Carly will be watching LOTR together?😱 that's so AWESOME!!!!!!! I'm guessing a re-watch for you but first time for her, oh boy I can't wait lol! well, that's all I have to say lol! hope Halloween was still fun for you and the family, best of luck getting things back into gear, much love and support, you're the best and stay classy Cassie lol!🥰😁😉👍

2022-11-04 10:35:32 +0000 UTC"someone (who is not a parent I am guessing) decided that the week before Halloween would have every day be a different dress up day at school" ???!!! Unless this is a performing arts school, I'd say we have found "volunteers" for the role of extras in a real-life re-enactment of all these Halloween movies.

2022-11-03 20:40:51 +0000 UTCYikes, let's not bring STDs into it. It is impressive Steve McQueen did that, and I have called him the King of cool on this thread. Ever see Pawn Stars, Rick is obessed with him. I remember a very young Steve in "the Blob" which should be interesting to people under the age of 60, yes the US used to have actual Civil Defense. Another example along these lines is "Bullit" .. I love the classic muscle car and I heard it had the greatest car chase ever.. Well, maybe in 1968, but "To Live and Die in LA" beat that in 1985 IMHO. Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDK8OtjE7O4 Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZ_39lxlDAg
Richard Bourne
2022-11-03 17:16:55 +0000 UTCI remember watching them both when they came out (6 months apart) and they were so different in tone and style it was almost like they were about different characters. But Tombstone is definitely the more accessible one.
Richard Maurer
2022-11-03 17:07:01 +0000 UTCJeez oh, citing actual stunt riding (much of it done my McQueen himself) as being inferior to something out of a XXX movie, and the Red Tails remake as being superior to . . . well . . . anything really is a take I cannot get on board with. I mean we're all allowed an opinion but you've basically just equated one of Cinema's most enduring classics with two movies I'd rather contract herpes rather than have to sit through again.

2022-11-03 17:04:30 +0000 UTCSome people just don't like mob movies. I personally don't and my main reason is I think they glorify the mob lifestyle, making anti heroes of common criminals, and they downplay the harm organized crime does to everyday people, making it seem like the only people getting harmed are other mobsters.
Richard Maurer
2022-11-03 16:56:25 +0000 UTCTook me a second to see where you were going with this, then it hit me and I like what you did. Two thumbs up !!!

2022-11-03 15:25:55 +0000 UTCNot sure why THE BAD NEWS BEARS ( 1976 ) doesn't get the love. One of my favorite movies. Incredibly entertaining. But that notwithstanding...both Bull Durham and The Natural are excellent choices. And I'm sure Cassie intends on watching both.

2022-11-03 10:12:28 +0000 UTCFrequency doesn't fit into any easy category. It's a baseball movie just as much as it is a father Son movie, and a fantasy movie, and a time travel movie, and a murder mystery......either way it would be Cassies favorite watch this month.

2022-11-03 09:31:35 +0000 UTCWell, spoiler alert... take the motorcycle scene which by today's standards was somewhat lame. Look at the stuff they do in Fast and Furuious, which is over the top. There was a motorcycel scene in XXX with Vin Diesel. They could have done some CGI figther and bomber scenes. Ever seen Red Tails? The George Lucas remake with CGI vs. the original was far more exciting.

2022-11-03 03:37:24 +0000 UTCI found the perfect film to watch this November. To be clear, I’m not asking for a reaction. That’s Cassie’s prerogative if she wanted to, as always. This is just for whoever is interested. The film is Matinee (1993). Joe Dante’s love letter to “B” Horror Pictures from the 50s and 60s and anyone that enjoys going to the movie theater. It’s about a group of kids going to see a new kind of Horror movie, in Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis. This is a fun, sweet film that gives a little insight into why we like scary movies. Also, it relates the mindset and fear that people were living in during the Cold War, especially in lower Florida, living so close to Cuba. The Cuban Missile Crisis lasted from late October to late November 1962, making this time of year, the 60th Anniversary of when we came the closest to a Nuclear conflict. But, that didn’t happen, and the film is very fun.

2022-11-02 20:55:59 +0000 UTCYou might have already watched it, but something to keep in mind about The Great Escape: There was a big difference between the German concentration camps and the German POW Camps (Prisoner of War). The concentration camps had horrific conditions and mass murder, while the POW camps for the most part followed the Geneva Convention's rules of warfare regarding treatment of military prisoners. So when you notice the disparity of conditions between Schindler's List and The Great Escape, that's why. Enlisted Men where expected to do work as long as it was not dangerous or helped the enemy's war effort, NCOs would be in supervisory roles, and Officers didn't have to work but could if they wanted to. The had to be housed in adequately heated and lighted barracks on par with what the German military had, and if any prisoners died they were to be honorably buried in marked graves. Some prisoners were able to get and receive mail from home, and prisoners were able to receive care packages from the International Red Cross. Conditions varied from camp to camp, but what you see in The Great Escape shows a camp that appears to have followed the Geneva rules. (Then again, it IS a movie though)

2022-11-02 20:26:41 +0000 UTC@brooke: I posted it and then thought better of it because it occurred to me that it could possibly come off as a bit patronizing, so I deleted it. My main point was just that THE GODFATHER series is so extraordinary that it transcends its own typical genre limitations. It is much more than just "a mob movie." It's about so many other things (the mafia aspect, though it is treated seriously and with great authenticity for its time, is practically just a metaphor). It's about family, it's about loyalty, it's about the immigrant experience in the U.S. in the early 20th century and it's about American capitalism (The opening line in the film is "I believe in america."). Not saying therefore you have to like it, but. It's just that it's the kind of movie that I think surprises a lot of people who expect it to be just one thing and find out that it is so much more than that. You could say that for many people it ends up "making them an offer they can't refuse." ;-)

2022-11-02 18:25:51 +0000 UTCI couldn’t find your comment to reply to you so I am on this comment lol of course I like movies about family and friendship. I’m not a mob movie or gangster movie fan. Just not my thing. I’m also the opposite of Cassie in that I usually hate movies that are just love stories. And it annoys me when a movie is really enjoyable but they feel the need to throw in a love story on the side just to rope in the female audience. Not all females are obsessed with being In love and obsessed with finding a guy. Eh just so annoying. Love stories just a big no for me. With the exception of a couple films here and there over the years. I’m super excited for ghost. But again to each his own.

2022-11-02 18:21:53 +0000 UTCYeah I totally get that. I have seen enough clips of the godfather to know I wouldn’t like it at all. Just not the kinda film I’m interested in. 2022-11-02 18:06:11 +0000 UTCMy rip on Pretty Woman .. Edward did a LBO, liveraged buyout of a failing shipyard for a Billion dollars. Back then in 1990 interest rates were at least 7%. Then there was a $300 million dollar deal for for making destroyers, plural. NO WAY. A single destoryer was well over 300 million back then and the profit and revenue would have never paid off the short term financing and would not cover the interest. Edward would have gone bankrupt on this UNLESS he closed some deals to make super huge cruse ships which was the future for large ship construction companies. So, Pretty Woman, Vivian, would have destroyed Edward Lewis and his company.

2022-11-02 18:05:55 +0000 UTCBasball poll! Bull Durham came in a close second in the last baseball poll! It better win this time! Otherwise this sounds like a happy month! You and Carly can rewind from all of the October horrors by watching a movie that does not at all deal with the supernatural - Ghost! :-) I've been waiting a long time for Queens Gambit to hit this screen, and I'm really interested to see if you'll enjoy it as much as I did! Add to that another Trivia contest for me to lose in, and The Great Escape, and all I need to make my November complete is turkey, gravy and my "Too Good to be Green" Brussels Sprouts! My checklist is complete.

2022-11-02 17:47:26 +0000 UTCSo happy. Sounds like its going to be a fun November.

2022-11-02 17:44:44 +0000 UTCSince you've already done Field Of Dreams and Major League, my nomination for the baseball poll has to be For Love Of The Game. It stars Kevin Costner as a pitcher not in his prime, but near the end of his career, and it's both a baseball movie and a love story. I won't say more about the plot so as to avoid spoilers, but I think you'd really enjoy it.

2022-11-02 17:44:32 +0000 UTCI just don't like the "new" playoff format. Since 1994 there have been way too many wild card teams get hot and run through everyone else. The Marlins have done it twice in '97 and '03, Boston did it in '04, St Louis in '11, SF in 2014, as sweet as it was to see Bonds get defeated in the WS the Angels did it in '02, and others I'm forgetting. Go back to two divisions in each league, those winners go straight to the LCS then the World Series. Pennant races are obsolete. Last one was Atlanta and SF in '93.

2022-11-02 17:41:51 +0000 UTCLooking forward to The Great Escape and (as of right now) The Deer Hunter. I’ve only ever seen bits and pieces of Ghost so I might skip that one.

2022-11-02 17:29:45 +0000 UTCim an angels fan, so go Phillies, beat houston

2022-11-02 17:27:03 +0000 UTCGhost - Great movie! Baseball movie classic: A League of Their Own
Rudy Hernandez
2022-11-02 17:26:53 +0000 UTCMan screw the Phillies. They beat Atlanta, they're a division rival, and Harper is the biggest horse's azz to come along since Bonds. They're something seriously wrong with the MLB playoff format when a thrid place team is up two games to one in the World Series. GO HOUSTON!!!!!!
William Bryan
2022-11-02 17:25:27 +0000 UTCa league of their own, Bull Durham, for the love of the game with Kevin Costner, Field of Dreams, Wow a lot of Costner baseball movies. the Natural

2022-11-02 17:25:19 +0000 UTCFair enough. The special effects are minimal but the acting is great.

2022-11-02 17:23:12 +0000 UTCGot a feeling this’ll be a hard poll.
Larry Darrell
2022-11-02 17:17:17 +0000 UTCThe Great Escape, “not that great, by today’s standards.” My opinion would be, today’s films not that great by The Great Escape’s standards.
Larry Darrell
2022-11-02 17:15:52 +0000 UTCThe Godfather is long overdue. I'm pretty confident that you'll actually like it a lot, unlike, say, Goodfellas. Hoping you can finish the trilogy before the year is over. I mean, if you can watch 4 mediocre Robin Hood movies in one week, surely you can finish one of the greatest trilogies ever in 2 months? Another Baseball poll though.. I echo what someone said on the last YT live. Can we get a Basketball movie snuck in at some point? The majority of sports movies have been Baseball, American Football, and Boxing, but not a single hoops movie. There are some great ones out there.

2022-11-02 17:13:07 +0000 UTCHas a Live Event Package Opening ever gone on until the next morning? I bet this will be a record breaking one with all the packages you have probably received since the last. You always say you are worried it will go on too long so maybe this one shoukd be billed as a Live-A-Thon like those old Jerry Lewis tel-a-thons that went all weekend. I'm down for it, we can never get too much PiB!

2022-11-02 17:11:47 +0000 UTCCan't wait for both The Great Escape and The Best Years of Their Lives. I love those movies! Also, I don't think Cassie has done a Steve McQueen film yet. Excited to see what her first impression is

2022-11-02 17:06:57 +0000 UTCFor me, at least, November will have been well worth the wait. Lots of good choices, and The Queen's Gambit as the cherry on top!
Mingo Wayama
2022-11-02 17:06:32 +0000 UTCI may watch the great escape. But The Godfather I know I won’t like. Those aren’t my kinda movies at all. I don’t like mob or gangster movies. They just don’t interest me or hold my attention.
brooke atkins
2022-11-02 17:06:16 +0000 UTCSome baseball suggestions. Bull Durham (with your man, Kevin Costner, and looking better than ever), The Natural with Robert Redford (another one of your favs), the classic Pride of the Yankees with Gary Cooper, and the VERY funny 1976 Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau. Thank you Cassie for brightening my day as always!
Kat Farlowe
2022-11-02 17:05:08 +0000 UTCSeriously, the second you don't enjoy "The Great Escape" or "The Godfather" is the second they can nail your box shut. Give them a go! Promise they're worth the effort.

2022-11-02 17:04:48 +0000 UTCThe Great Escape - maybe not that great by todays standards, but some great stars in there in their prime, Steve McQueen (King of cool), James Garner, Charles Bronson, James Attenborough (the head of Ingen in Jurrasic Park), James Coburn... etc. A thing to consider is that this movie came out in 1963 which is only 18 years from the end of WW2.

2022-11-02 17:03:41 +0000 UTCyes, i get it now. love him.

2022-11-02 16:58:32 +0000 UTCDang! Wednesday nights are hard for me to join, but then again, I do horribly bad on all the pop quizzes anyway LOL But I will put the livestream on the calendar for sure. Can't wait for District 9!!!

2022-11-02 16:58:03 +0000 UTCDum Dum, Dum De Dum Dum, Dum Dum Dee Dum Dee Dum De Dum Dum . . . November looks great! "The Great Escape" is just a riot of a movie with a cast which is basically a who's who of 1960s Cinema, and that Score is wonderful. "The Godfather" is legitimately one of the best movies ever made. I was huuuugely impressed by "The Queens Gambit" too, that's a fantastic Mini Series. I'm also madly in love with Anja Taylor Joy who is basically going to be the 21st Century's version of Grace Kelly or Marilyn Monroe (though I hope with a much happier ending). She's incredible. She's an icon. So there. Fight me :-D

2022-11-02 16:57:25 +0000 UTCYou will both love Ghost but just a warning Carly might find one or two things a little scary. But you being a veteran now you should be fine.

2022-11-02 16:55:22 +0000 UTCSo ready for ghost and mi6!! I’ll probably skip out on the rest of these uploads. Just not really anything I’m interested in. Looking forward to Xmas movies also. You still have a lot to see Cassie. Hope everyone has a great week.
