One of my favourite vampire films, I believe it’s better that Bram Stoker’s Dracula with Gary Oldman

Fucking PREACH.

These reactions bring some very interesting cultural differences to light. Two observations from a Dutch person: 1. When it comes to nudity, Americans are definitely the odd ones out with how you react to it. I know it comes from your puritan roots, but the way you look away from nudity as if it's some extremely violent or gory picture is very telling, and in my opinion not very healthy. 2. The reason you were weirded out by the physical intimacy between Lestat and Louis at the beginning of the movie shows how far America and most of the world has yet to come when it comes to gay or other non-straight imagery. Homo-eroticism is very much a part of the makeup of Anne Rice's novels, as it is of ours. Having said that, I really enjoy your reactions a lot, you're both very entertaining!

OMG. Just watched and you girls are so much braver than you give yourself credit for. This film gave me nightmares for 2 years back in 1990 something 😉

WeekendWarrior88

Meh... I'll just stick to the books.

ArsTropica

LOL. OK, at least we agree that the film is borderline terrible. :)

Matt Rose

I'd go that far, which is why I said it ;)

Rue

I don't know if I'd go that far but it's definitely night and day in terms of acting quality.

Matt Rose

From the moment you mentioned Twilight and Vampire Diaries I knew you were in for a surprise lol.

Sam Reid's performance as Lestat in the new series makes Tom Cruise look like he's fresh out of acting school. Same for Jacob Anderson playing Louis. If those two aren't swimming in awards by the time next season starts, so help me...

Rue

I personally really, really dislike this movie and feel that all of the acting performances in it are uniformly terrible EXCEPT for Tom Cruise. Pitt and Slater are all thumbs (career worst performances for both of them) and most of the other supporting players are also bad. Dunst is solid and Banderas and Rea are both great in the small roles that they have, but everyone else is cringeworthy. The new AMC show is a far superior effort in terms of casting/acting and overall story flow.

Matt Rose

From what I remember, she took out a full page ad in a national newspaper to apologize and rave about Cruise's performance.

Damon

One of my favorites

I remember when the movie was being cast, Anne Rice (author of the book) was upset that Tom Cruise was picked for Lestat. But after watching his performance in the movie, she ultimately recanted and apologized and said that he was perfect for the role.

For Armand and his theater, it was a mode of existence among humans. Vampires pretending to be humans pretending to be vampires. It was a source of income and a way to afford the material things of the world. When Armand met Louis, he knew that Claudia needed to go to make room, as much as his acting troupe needed to go. That's why Armand hesitated. The unwanted vampires would rid Claudia, and Louis's anger would get rid of the unwanted actor vampires, giving Armand the best bet at getting Louis as a new companion, but thanks to Louis who figured out Armand's plan, he didn't allow himself to become attached to Armand. It's very plot twisty, as Anne Rice who wrote the novels did many sequels. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Now that October is done, I think a shocking comedy is a best bet for you both! I suggest Hot Fuzz. Laugh and cringe, but mostly laugh, you won't regret it! :)

Daniel Roberts

I don't think there was any possible happy ending for Louis. Louis is tormented because he still values human life. This torment would only end if he abandoned his conscience and became like Lestat. That, of course, would hardly be a happy ending. Ultimately, vampires are incapable of true happiness and fulfillment because their existence demands the violation of moral truth and goodness.

Now that you've watched the film that was based on the book, you might enjoy the song "Moon Over Bourbon Street" by Sting, off of the Dream of the Blue Turtles album.

Sean Novack

I think she would like Lost Boys but Blade I’m not so sure. If she thought Interview was bloody…but I do agree w Lost Boys and if she wants a film that is possibly the most creepy there is try out One Hour Photo

GamerGal8684

Next Halloween,...Lost Boys, The Burbs and Blade....:)
