[YT Edit] Amadeus

Hey guys! Quick change of plans - the editor working on Interview with a Vampire had some things come up and so we have to delay that YT edit for later in the week. In place of that, here's the YT edit for Amadeus which will premiere this afternoon on YT. Enjoy the quick break from scary movies!

Direct link in case the above player doesn't work.

Here is the full reaction to this movie.

$10 says that's a Harry Potter wand in the picture. Tell me I'm wrong. :D

29:35: One thing that was similar back then and today is it’s not sure thing to find success and fortune in the art world especially for revolutionaries like Mozart. It’s easier today because of trends changin all the time. But back then when things were conservative it was trickier. That and the jostling for station in that kind of environment would’ve certainly led to a lot of toxic “competition.” Granted, the whole story of Salieri planning Mozart’s death never happened. But it does have a little bit of merit in reflecting on the context of the times

I don’t understand why we don’t get more films about classical composers anymore. I would love new ones about Beethoven, Chopin, Vivaldi, Strauss, Schumann, Bach… list goes on

You should try listening to classical music more! 😀 Not many people these days listen to it anymore. I grew up with classical music and never been able to move away from it. On the other hand, the music of today isn’t really my thing. But that’s just me.

There was a little phrase we learned in elementary school to recognize a Mozart piece. It is said quicky- "Mozart's in the closet... Let him out, Let him out, Let him out!" Hayden's phrase is said like a measured dirge- "Papa Hayden's dead and gone but his music lingers on..."

Just wanted to add how much I enjoy your videos! I’m the evening host on the classical music station for Washington DC, WETA.

You said you wanted to do research. As it happens I gave a lecture about what’s fact and what’s fictional in Amadeus at the Folger Shakespeare Library when they did the stage version of this work three years ago. You can listen to it here: https://spotlight.folger.edu/2019/12/31/mozart-vs-salieri-with-james-jacobs/

follow up with "Immortal Beloved" a similar film about Beethoven

Ooh, I've been looking forward to this reaction for a while! "Amadeus" is one of my top 10 favorite movies, and seeing you absorbed in its story was a pleasure! You perfectly summarized Salieri's character when you said, "A man split in half. He recognizes Mozart's beautiful musical genius but is too jealous and prideful to allow it." Thank you for this terrific reaction! By the way, you've now reacted to five of my top 10 favorite movies: "Amadeus," "Apollo 13," "It's a Wonderful Life," "Lord of the Rings," and "Psycho."

I love this movie! It is based on a play, so there's a lot that is made-up, but it is still a great movie! I'm glad you saw the Director's Cut, as it explains why Mozart's wife is so against Saliari being there to help Mozart with the Requiem.
