Twister (1996) - Full Reaction

Comments

really fun watching this one again, I remember being sick in the theater, was not feeling well, and we were only able to get front row tickets and I turned pale white and was sweating. Had to leave was so nauseated. I will never forget that day and this movie lol. Saw it later on TV and enjoyed it lol

John A

It was fun watching this movie, I missed it so much. I’m impress how much Carly knew much about the plot I mean you both were great.

FranciscoGios

I think you'd really like Deep Impact, hope you get around to watching it.

Mark Fred

Both of you will really like Deep Impact - hope you watch it.

Johnny

I think this was the first movie ever released on DVD. Everything was VHS tapes (or Beta, which died), back then. No one under age 30 understands "be kind, rewind" (Men in Black II). Bill Paxton finally got a lead role, rest his soul. As I recall, he was the only actor to be killed by a Terminator (Terminator, the original), a Predator (Predator II), and an Alien (Aliens, the 2nd one).

Richard Bourne

YOU GUYS CANT LIKE EVERYTHING 😂😂😂😂 ...................DA NA NA NA NA NA NA NA BATMAN ! 😄😄

Sam R.

I've never heard the siren before so I'll be scared of tornados too. Give me an earthquake or some snow any day. I guess this goes with the fact that we are fearful of what we don't know or have little experience.

Eddie

Happy I Got Nothin' Day!!

Philip Alan

Yes to Deep Impact. It's right up your alley.

Larry Darrell

Not just a novelist, Michael Crichton was also a talented and innovative film director. Westworld (1973), was the first film to use computer digitized images. Looker (1981), was the first film to use a shaded 3D CGI human character Runaway (1984), set in a near future, predicted many electronic and computer devices that we have today. The Great Train Robbery (1978) and a few others all written and directed by Michael Crichton

Larry Darrell

Cassie suffers from PSTD (Post-Shining Traumatic Disorder). And I love that Carly was wearing a gingham shirt channeling her inner Dorothy.

David Patterson

Cassie, Your Thor shirt made me think of a movie: Adventures in Babysitting (1987), I think you'll like it, if you haven't seen it.

Larry Darrell

I had forgotten how good this movie is! Wow! And you and Carly make a great team! Bill Paxton was also in "present day" in the movie, Titanic. I have a feeling you have seen Titanic, but what a great movie that would be for a reaction. You have also obviously seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off as you referenced Alan Ruck, but would be great to see you react to that one as well. The first time I saw Phillip Seymour Hoffman, he was in Patch Adams with Robin Williams. His characters in different movies are so very diverse. This movie captured so much going on at one time. I didn't know until today that the novelist Michael Crichton was behind the screenplay. Amazing movie! Very realistic! Thank you for reacting! - Eric

Eric

Love this movie, and the dynamics of who he was "and is at heart." And him, and her to, re-finding that. Relatable story there. End some Van Halen in there to, after leaving ant Megs the first time. Soon as they turn on to that dirt road. And ending credits Eddie,,, Thats no moon,,,, thats a space station lol. Like how much impact has Star Wars had in ET, this movie! lol 😊 Epic line. Or, "we got cows" lol. Helen plays the tough but caring simple lady here, which in my world is attractive..

Michael J

Deep Impact would be a great watch for you and Carly.

Michael Avalos

Show you an other Natural Disaster Movie with a volcano outbreak. "Dantes Peak" (1997)

Daniel Fuchs

I'd say the romance subplot in this movie leaves a lot to be desired. They both could do a lot better.

My_Cousin_Mose

Deep Impact is a great movie. You an Carly would love it.

Rick Williams

Yes. Cassie and Carly would love Dante's Peak.

Rick Williams

Also just in case it wasn't obvious, that whole last scene is total fantasy. No way these guys wouldve been ok that close to a tornado exposed in the open like that.

KTVindicare

LMAO! when the Shining comes on.

KTVindicare

dante's peak is a fun one

Ry Jo

Is anyone else having audio issues with this one? Im getting the PIB opening music but no voice audio. I've downloaded it and tried the player here. *its fixed now for me*

Bret

Definitely watch Deep Impact!

Ricardo Alanis

Totally do Deep Impact, great movie. My fav genre is disaster movies, you should do more reactions to them. This was an awesome reaction with Carly, loved every minute of it :) Thanks for the amazing content as always.

Victoria Cousins

This was an absolute joy to watch this evening. I haven't watched the movie in a few years so it was good to revisit it. Loved your reactions. I agree, I would also leave Bill too if I was Melissa, and also happy that Bill and Jo ended up together in the end. Truly made for each other! They probably just needed some time apart (and therapy lol) instead of an actual divorce. This movie made me become somewhat fascinated with tornadoes. Haven't ever seen a proper one in person, though there's been a lot of "half tornadoes" in Alberta in recent years. They don't touch the ground but they stick out out of the sky about halfway to the ground. Still freaky!

kaiielle

Oh my gosh, it's wild seeing someone bring up this movie! Mighty Joe Young is a movie I ADORED as a child so it still feels good to watch it even though I'm in my 30s. That's another guilty pleasure movie for me! My brother was 3 years old when that movie came out and he was so obsessed with it that he walked EVERYWHERE on all fours for like 6 months straight. Even in public places.

kaiielle

Yes! The girls would LOVE True Lies. Perfect for them.

Junior

“Loser Cruiser”! Damn! Carly was taking shots at Cassie’s Minivan! 😂 Great reaction ladies! I had a great time watching with you guys! Great “Popcorn” flick! I have to agree with Carly though. You have a strange way of opening Candy packages Cassie! 😀 RIP Bill Paxton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Both great actors. Gone too soon. Still hoping for a True Lies reaction one of these days. 🤞 Definitely a yes vote for Deep Impact. Looking forward to seeing what coming up this week!

Robert da Spruce

There were some bits toward the end of this that had very Final Destination vibes. Definitely something Cassie should try come October.

tiny baby kitty man

Yes to Deep Impact. Helen Hunt was also awesome I'm "As Good As It Gets" with Jack Nicholson.

Scott O

I just noticed that when Aunt Meg was watching TV when the tornado was coming, she was watching a movie with Judy Garland who played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

Tara

I had completely forgotten about that Cassie-trigger in this movie.. as soon as I saw the screen I thought to myself "oh this should be interesting..." lol ty Cassie you did not disappoint!!

Andrew Rose

Watching this while in the middle of a severe thunderstorm warning certainly was a trip!

tiny baby kitty man

Love the soundtrack for this film.

Texas Anla'Shok

I saw Twister in the theater with my dad. When it was over, he said, "That was the worst movie I ever saw." It was also the last movie he ever saw--a couple months later he was dead of lung cancer. That's my Twister story.

Carol_White

Paxton was also in Apollo 13 (I could eat the ass out of a dead rhinoceros) which had a great reaction from you (the line and the movie) and YES to Deep Impact!

Keith Jones

As soon as Cassie realized it was The Shining they were watching, I lost it at her reaction. It was priceless! 🤣

Chris B.

She also saw him in Aliens.

Tim Raths

I haven't seen this movie in a long time. It was great watching it again with you Ladies. Great movie. Great reaction.

Rick Williams

Bill Paxton was also in the first Terminator as one of the first 3 people the Terminator kills and steals clothes from one of them, was in Alien as you know, and was in Predator 2. As such he is the only actor to be killed by a Predator, Terminator, and Xenomorph.

John Cohen

Great reaction! Yes farmers cattle and horses get killed in tornadoes but not news worthy. So most people don’t think about it. The tornado outbreak the night before your December live ultimately killed 72 Kentuckians. That tornado missed my town by 8 miles. I woke up to the Thunder and the lightning was something I’d rarely seen but I didn’t hear any sirens. Turns out the wind rain and lightning were so loud I couldn’t hear them. My friends and neighbors said the same thing. I’m sure that’s likely the case where most of the people were killed. Tornados are scary enough during the day, but nighttime tornadoes are the scariest.!!

Steven Ashford

not so fun fact: both paxton and hunt suffered eye damage from high powered lights. there were also several occasions of highly dangerous debris impacts and less than sanitary working conditions.

Wu Sha Ling

I would be more afraid of the hotel mattress and the hotel bathtub. LOL. On another note, just sitting here waiting for Cassie's flashback to happen.

Miki Johnson

Pretty sure I watched this in theaters with my dad and haven't watched it since. Should be a fun one.

David RedEagle

Bill Paxton had a good role in Mighty Joe Young, but not sure how popular that one is in this day and age

JL_83

this my favorite disaster movie because it is the most real. Tornados are no joke in Texas. wonderfully made!

Jimmy Reyes

OMG, seconded! Haha, I think they would both love that movie, though without them going in and expecting it to be an actual Thor film, lest they be disappointed or even irritated. LOL Not trying to spoil your fun, but I've seen that kind of expectation thing ruin a reaction.

Raven Dark

I love Bill Paxton and Helen hunt in this movie what's very interesting is the chemistry works so well with them but behind the scenes they did not like working with each other at all they hated working together in fact they agree to never work for each other again but they made it work so well

MatthewBrown74m

Lovin the Thor shirt!

Audrey

Seconded on a Deep Impact watch. A real shame that it came out at the same time as Armageddon as while I enjoy both, Deep Impact feels like the better story. Though saying that, I haven't seen the film in more than decade and may remember things differently. :P

Kiera

Thor shirt, huh. Perhaps Miss Popcorn needs to see the best Thor in movie history and watch Adventures in Babysitting (1987).

Mike Lemon

Also Cassie you watched bill Paxton in Apollo 13 and he’s also in titanic as the guy looking for roses necklace in the beginning. So you’ve actually seen him in more things than you think.

brooke atkins

I love this movie!! It’s just a good old 90’s summer blockbuster that is pure fun. I don’t understand why some people hate on movies like this so much. Not every movie needs to win Oscar’s to be good. Sometimes you just wanna have fun and suspend reality for a while lol glad you both enjoyed it. That was quite an overreaction to that shining clip 🤣🤣🤣 But that’s coming from someone who ranks the shining as one of there top 10 favorite films and happily watches the shining at least twice a year just for fun lol That reaction cracked me up lol And I say yes also for deep impact. Another fun blockbuster from the 90’s

brooke atkins

Oh man, I forgot just how infuriating Helen Hunt's character is in this movie. That manipulative game-playing with the divorce papers in the beginning? Ugh.

Patrick Egan

“Come play with us Cassie. Come play with us.” Seeing your ptsd reaction to The Shining was hilarious! 🤣

Rainbow Dash

Remember Bill Paxton was also in TITANIC.

Stick Figure Studios

Cassie, I loved how Carly matched your energy when you saw The Shining playing on the screen at the drive-in. Even though she didn't watch that movie with you, she followed your lead and pulled the covers over her face too. LOL!

Dave Hill

Oh, and sorry about all the comments, but I forgot to add in my last two, I vote yes for watching Deep Impact. :D

Raven Dark

So fun to watch this with you gals. It was better, much better seeing it with your reaction. And it was so fun to hear you two say to each other as you watch the winner of the Disaster Movie poll, “what genre is this movie?” Big LOL. OK, seriously, to answer your question, you could characterize most disaster movies as action dramas or action thrillers, as Twister seems to be. Please watch Deep Impact. More involving and emotional than Twister. Many more great disaster movies out there, would love to see another Disaster Movie poll, the heyday of the disaster movie genre was in the '70's, by the way. I'm with Carly on Team Thunderstorm. Love 'em. Even though I live in a part of the United States where damaging thunderstorms are very common, but even more common is having your power knocked out by a damaging storm. Tornadoes have been known to go through my town, but having a devastating event seems to happen rarely. One came through in the '90's that destroyed a big K-Mart and a big Walmart is in its place now, but the way I look at it, that would have happened anyway, lol.

MikeLL

No different than Spielberg sprinkling in references to Star Wars in E.T. and Poltergeist. I'm sure at this point Cassie is aware that Spielberg had nothing to do with Star Wars other than a close friendship with George Lucas. Cassie picking up on that Obi-Wan quote from Star Wars made my day! I mean she's only seen that movie one time and maybe the watch party on YT and she's already got lines memorized from it. Warms my heart!!! =)

Dave Hill

Did you notice it was co-written by Michel Crichton who also wrote Jurassic Park, and more importantly Andromeda Strain (Hint, Hint)

Jon Freezin-Rain

Can only imagine the look on the maids face walking into her room if she didn't get everything put back in place. LOL

Dave Hill

Oh, shoot, I knew I forgot to mention something. It said this movie was written and produced by Micheal Chrichton, among others. Micheal Chrichton wrote the book Jurassic Park is based on. Pretty cool, huh?

Raven Dark

Oh, yes, yes, yes! So happy you two reacted to this, and what a reaction it was! Your reactions are some of the best out there. Love you two so much. "Oh, Steven Spielberg, that's funny, because there were some star wars references." That made me laugh. Stephan Spielberg did E.T., Jaws, and Jurassic Park, all of which you guys watched on the channel (can't recall if Carly watched Jurassic Park with you, Cassie), but Star Wars was Goerge Lucas. Still, look at you guys, gettin' all the references! I'm so proud of you! :D Cassie's reaction to the "That's No moon, it's a space Station!" made me smile. So did the moment when you two "got" the Dorothy thing. And Cassie's reaction to The Shining clip was perfect. "I just got PTSD!" Ha, so perfect. It seems like you guys saw all the right movies at the right time, the right ones before seeing this one. And you know something, Cassie pointing out Dusty's actor was from Hunger Games felt super weird, because I didn't even notice that. I'm a movie buff, I have seen HG a lot of times, and I missed that. Way to go! I'm so sorry you were traumatized by storns, Cassie, but I love that you watched this film and were able to enjoy it. Face those fears, girl. By the way, don't feel bad about being afraid of storms, Cassie. I am too. I hate lightning. I sit there shaking the whole time when it happens. Like you, Cassie, I do have a compelling reason for it. I was almost struck once. A friend of mine and I were riding home in a cab when an unexpected storm came up. Lightening struck only five feet from the sidewalk just as the cab passed by. Five feet, and it would have struck us. I could see the fork come down and hit the ground. It sounded like a gunshot. It scared the daylights out of me, and now I'm terrified to be anywhere near a storm. Oh, one more thing. You guys should watch True Lies. It's super funny, it's got lots of humor, it's an action movie, and it has a good romance. You'd love it. Aaaand, you might just recognize a few faces in there. :D Great, reaction, guys. Can't wait to see what's next.

Raven Dark

First movie I saw in IMAX, came out the same summer as independence day got to watch that in IMAX a few weeks later too.

Bubba Fett

Not seen this in ages and really enjoyed watching it again after such a long time. I actually saw this in my late teen at the cinema we actually saw it about 3 times lol. I’d actually forgotten just how many great actors there are in this and absolutely love Seymour Hoffmans character Dustin.

Dean Holt

yes on secretariat

zynjams

I think it’s because they’re humans first. Scientists second. Just because they’re scientists, it doesn’t mean they don’t have egos. Even if it’s not for monetary gain. They still want the credit for being the first to do something. To make a name for themselves. Just like any other profession that’s pushing the boundaries. Just because they’re scientists, doesn’t exempt them from this human desire and drive.

Robert da Spruce

And The Shining! 🤣

Robin T

"steven spielberg was a producer. thats funny because there were some star wars references" - always taking 1 step towards, then 2 steps back from being a real movie buff

Variable38

I just checked out the intro before heading out to work. Sorry to hear about your traumatic experience in Missouri Cassie. I am impressed how you She-Hulked the mattress into the bathroom though! 😂 Sorry. I shouldn’t be laughing at something that was clearly traumatizing for you. But it does conjure up quite the visual! Anyways, looking forward to watching the full reaction tonight!

Robert da Spruce

am i the only one confused as to why everyone is sooooo upset with "princess bride" for copying dorothy and following them? if bill only wanted the research and didnt care about money for his work shouldn't he have given the plans to Dorothy away? wouldn't he want a Dorothy in the back of every storm chasers truck?

Variable38

Minority Report is awesome. Spielberg & Cruise. They also did War of the Worlds which is awesome too!

Odd Thomas

Aren't you glad you saw The Wizard of Oz before this?

Texas Anla'Shok

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched “Deep Impact.” I love that film, as well as the two volcano movies: “Dante’s Peak” and “Volcano.”

Bob Bittner

Surprisingly, deaths as a direct result of storm chasing is incredibly rare. Only three have ever been killed. Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, and Carl Young back in 2013 in El Reno, Oklahoma. Even that was a freak accident. The tornado grew to 2.6 miles wide (widest on record) in a matter of minutes and made an unexpected turn. It also had many sub vortices that were dropping out of the mother cell at speeds of over 200mph. One of these dropped on top of their car and threw it 3/4’s of a mile. Unfortunately you can’t prevent freak accidents.

Josh Phillips

Deep Impact is good - certainly more coherent than Armageddon, one of the most badly edited movies ever made. For every scene that would normally have 3 cuts, Michael Bay uses like 25. If you've ever seen that Youtube clip of Liam Neeson jumping over a fence, it's like that but for the whole movie

Odd Thomas

Funny you recognized Alan Ruck from being in Speed, this movie also had the same director as Speed lol

Gilbert Gonzalez

I seem to recall that real storm chasers really did try something like Dorothy, and really did run into issues with anchoring it (as well as the obvious problem of safely putting it in position). I don't think it ever worked especially well. As you say, other technologies have since come to the rescue.

Robin T

You really have to suspend your disbelief for chunks of this movie but it’s a fun one. The cast in this is great and it’s so quotable.

Tim Raths

Re-watches are good to go! Bring on the Marvel movies!

Allen Bond

This is such a fun movie. Very very unrealistic but very entertaining. I live in Oklahoma, the heart of tornado alley, and I can tell you that real storm chasers never get that close to a tornado if they can help it. That's how people die. Also, modern radar resolution has made it possible to predict tornadoes much more accurately and early. I think they've extended the warning time to 20 to 30 minutes. However some tornadoes still do get missed and people get injured or killed. This movie is fantastic even if it's not realistic. If you are interested in seeing what real storm chasers do, you should watch Pecos Hank on YouTube. As for Deep Impact. You should definately watch it. It's another very good movie.

Lewis Hobbs

Helen Hunt is also good in As Good As It Gets, which I know others have been recommending for the softer side of Jack Nicholson. And speaking of Jack, I totally forgot about the Shining scene, but your reaction was hilarious when that popped up. Lois Smith (Aunt Meg) represents another connection to Minority Report. I'm telling you, now's the time to watch that one ;) Trivia to impress your friends: young Jo from the opening scene was played by Alexa Vega, who went on to star as Carmen in the Spy Kids movies.

Robin T

An enjoyable watch, some fun reactions in this one. Some movies that popped into my head while watching this that we can add to the infinite list are…. Secretariat True Lies As Good As It Gets

Andrew Hogan

I haven’t watched this reaction, but I remember after watching the MI 3 reaction being bummed when she referred to Phillip Seymour Hoffman (my favorite actor) as “that’s the guy from Hunger Games!”…. So many amazing performances. Almost Famous and Big Lebowski which she’s seen, and also Magnolia, Boogie Nights, The Master, Capote, Doubt, 25th Hour, Synechdoche New York…. Pretty much every role he’s taken on he’s killed. And very diverse performances.

Jeff Milcheck

YES to Deep Impact :)

RavenLord

Don't forget Phillip Seymour Hoffman was Brant in the Big Lebowski - that man could play anyone.

Rob Thomas

Definitely watch DEEP IMPACT.

Stick Figure Studios

Dig the connie refit avatar! Still best E of all time. Have to say, SNW E is becoming a close 2nd!

Jason Fulbright

Imagine them watching Evil Dead 🤣 I know for certain they would stop the movie if they tried to watch The Exorcist. 🤢

John Cranberry

This got a decent amount of bashing in the comment section, but I think it’s a fun little movie. Is it a brilliant scientific film, no, but it’s something you can pop in and enjoy.

Andrew Hogan

Great intro, Carly says "face your fears" so is she up for some level 10 horror films next month? Also, life long Missourian here and yes, most of the time everyone ignores the sirens unless the news says a tornado has actually been spotted in the area. Can't wait to finish the reaction. We have cows!
