Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Full Reaction

Hey guys! Ok these are becoming our favorite watching parties monthly together! Sorry for all our blabbing at the beginning, we needed to catch up apparently. Jeremy Renner was so fun to see in this one. Not to give anything away but we loved pretty much every second of it ;)

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - Full Reaction

Comments

Good job, you two. This was a great reaction. It may not be up your alley, but Star Trek 2009 has Simon Pegg in a supporting role and he is brilliant. I know, Star Trek, but even if you dont know anything, the 2009 movie was made to reboot the franchise for new viewers, so it may be worth a watch.

Damon Corrigan

Funny you said that thing about not liking action movies because I'm in the same boat! Action movies are my least favorite genre so it's saying a-lot when I say I love this series. Such a good collection of action films, can't wait for y'all to watch Rogue Nation and Fallout!

Noe Ramirez

This was a great reaction. Can't wait for the next 2 because they are probably my top 2 of the franchise. This is not really a spoiler for the next movie, but just know going into the movie, the start of Rogue Nation with Tom Cruise and the plane is real. That is not a stunt double and it is not CGI.

DarthChef

I was waiting to see if you would recognize Jeremy Renner in the opening credits, but you guys were trying the popcorn and missed a little bit. I remember when this movie came out, there was talk of Jeremy taking over the franchise after this movie, but I’m glad Tom stuck with them. Ha! When we first see Ethan and Brandt I expected him to pull out bow and arrow. I had to remind myself that he wasn’t Hawkeye in this movie. It turned out better for Renner playing Hawkeye rather that take over MI.

Tara

I cannot wait for you guys to watch Rogue Nation! As good as the first four are, these movies only get better from here!

George Stapp

This one is cool but I definitely like the third one better. I like the Burj khalifa scene in part 4 but I like the bridge attack scene in part 3 better.

Michael Lynch

Hawkeye! lol. Jeremy Renner. this is action but its more suspense thriller and thats what makes Mission Impossible great.

Jimmy Reyes

My Friday night treat! Love you always Cassie ❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹

John Cranberry

So, Carly, who years ago had a bad car accident that left her with terrible headaches for days afterward, now has trouble remembering movie plot lines. These two things may be related. :(

Kathy Ice

So very happy that you 2 have went down this rabbit hole. My wife and I loved watching these together. Carly I hope that you are fine from the accident, will say some prayers for you if you so believe. Also on a side note just wanted to say and you have probably heard this before but you look so much like Kate Hudson. Cassie so happy that you started this adventure with reactions. Your reactions are well thought out and just genuine. Love your and Carly’s sense of humor, and sometimes your naivety about things it really makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face. Prayers and blessings to you and yours and look forward to so many more reactions. Stay safe and healthy.

Richard Shepard

I watched this the other day and it was the first time I noticed that the bad guy appears before the bad guy is introduced. When Ethan and Benji get past the first security checkpoint, as they come through the door, he turns towards the camera and basically walks in with them. I assume this was to make the Russians think they were part of the same team when they reviewed the footage. Mind you, I had only seen the movie 2 times prior to that.

Brian McGovern

McQuarrie and Cruise are a great team.

Steve Colletti

It would be perfect 😃, and it´s so easy to stream it from FshareTV and it´s the improved version from 2017 on that site 😃😃 Tbh... I think thats the only place where you can stream the improved version from, at least atm.

Björn Karlsson

Have not seen any of the MI films. Will I be able to get the gist from watching the YT edits of the reactions? So many films, so little time. Right now I am working my way through the films of Lukas Moodysson. Some very heavy meat there. However, Show Me Love (1998) would be perfect for this channel.

Michael Threapleton

Personally, I wouldn't want a rewatch. It takes time away from all the great films you haven't seen. The only time I'd be fine with a rewatch is if you're reacting to one or two movies that are part of a series, and you've only seen a couple of the early ones, but it's been a while and you remember little. In that case, a rewatch of the early ones just to refresh your memory of the series is fine. Other than that, I think it's a bit of a waste of time. That's just me.

Shehab Dawoud

ohhhhh yeah Tom did all the building stunts... watch the behind the scenes stuff on youtube about it.. hes crazy.. hahaha

Brian Landers

Also the 'Cornetto Trilogy' - Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and The World's End

Rob Thomas

If you like Simon Pegg (Benji - the comedy British guy on the team) - I recommend 'Spaced' - 2 seasons of 6 episodes. Great comedy, might be a bit old (ran 99-01) but has a huge cult fan following.

Rob Thomas

It was fixed, but it seems the wrong version has been used when moving to YT from Vimeo.

Gábor Árki

I also love the reactions to the evolving analog-to-digital technology: giggling at the floppy disks of Part 1 and the "Oh wow" reaction to the virtual map on the car dashboard.

Alex Villarreal

Brad Bird really took the series in an awesome direction. And then Christopher McQuarrie kept that fun streak going with the next movies. Fun movie and fun reaction and more to come!

Alex Villarreal

Sorry to hear about Carly’s accident. Glad she’s OK. I got rear ended on the freeway sitting in traffic a few years ago as well. Sucks. Totaled my car. Luckily no injuries. But I can sympathize. Hope there’s no lingering effects Carly. As far as the reaction, I really enjoyed it! You guys keep saying you’re not action movie fans. You were even wearing a Chick Flick Connoisseur T-Shirt. But face it, you guys are totally becoming action movie fans! 😀 I also noticed you guys got your own pair of earbuds. Instead of sharing a pair. I’m glad! I think you were missing a lot of immersion only hearing one ear. Already looking forward to the next one!

Robert da Spruce

Actually, Rogue Nation is next

Shawn Kildal

As always, you and Carly are delightful together :) This was definitely a solid entry in the series, honestly the only weak one for me was the second one. Hard to believe this movie was directed by the same guy who directed The Iron Giant and The Icredibles! But what I'm really excited for is to see you watch the next one, Rogue Nation. It's definitely my favorite in the entire series.

Patrick Egan

Even a car crash couldn't keep Carly from being there for her sis! What a trooper she is! Respect! Glad you both enjoyed MI4,Fallout is next and I believe it's the best of all! 💥⭐⭐⭐⭐

Celeste McAllister

First, so glad Carly is okay after her wreck. Second, Loved this reaction! Such a fun movie. Remembering that this was done by Brad Bird, it made me wonder if you have seen The Incredibles and The Incredibles 2. Those are both must watch animated movies.

Zac

Of course, Carly is going to lean towards MI4 since she barely remembers MI3

Shawn Kildal

I love how Tom Cruise goes above and beyond with the stunts in his movie.

James1035

The Indian actor who played media tycoon that Agent Carter had to seduce to get the code from was Anil Kapoor. He's actually very, very famous. Especially in his homeland. You should recognize him in Slumdog Millionaire as the game show host. He was also in season 4 of "24".

Shawn Kildal

Great reaction, though you guys almost missed some important parts in the beginning when Agent H threw his emergency safety pillow that saved him from dying in the fall. That’s one thing about these Mission Impossible films— you have to pay attention from the first moments that the movie begins.

N M

I'm definitely down with a Pirates of the Caribbean rewatch

Jason Dolan

Yes, Carly, I also enjoyed THE GRAY MAN. Very fun action flick. No one throws a loaded gun.

Jason Dolan

Cassie, you guys should try watching the trailers for MI before the next two. They are some of the best trailers of all time, and it'd be fun to see you guys watch them!

Jason O'Rear

Wooooo is this 4? Ok yea, this is the one! I got 5000 things going on so, which was which kind of lost me. This is the one that was like!!!! Yea the building scene. Serious that building just makes Sears or Willus tower in Chicago. Or even the One World trade in NYC look small. Put it this way. In the movie, he's on the Burj Khalifa building, which is 2717 feet!!!!!!!! Sears, or Willus (same place) is 1729 feet at the antennas. Ive been up there at top floor, around 1300 maybe. And I even been out on that walk out glass area! Ive also been in One Word in NYC,,,, the new one. And thats like 1,200 approx to. The old ones were about the same. So 2717 feet is freak high!!!!! And yes they sell the Ferris shirt she just got up in Sears observation area to. I got a pick of that, but we cant post pic's oddly. You'd think Patron would, for the $ and enhance their site a bit. Its not her fault, just? It would be fun to share though. It is on Instagram, follow there too so. ShyFly34 if anyone,,,, ok no one,,,, ok fine lol.

Michael J

I was hoping this would be here when I got home. and "Hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things..." Wow, is this going to be fun. Thanks for making my night, yet again.

Erik Daniel

I'm wondering if after a few months you could re-watch anything and Carly won't remember it. So funny. I had a great time re-watching this with you gals.

softshoes

Paula Patterson, OMG. I've loved her in every movie she's been in. The one with Denzel, the time travel one. Name escapes me ATM. Cass is always up for some time travel.

softshoes

Yes, watch Pirates of the Caribbean please!

Adam Harris

Should you watch Pirates of the Caribbean: YES YES YES YES and HECK YES!!! 🙌🏼

Jon Brown

I tried to cheat at the start and look up the Wikipedia plot line. Realized reading it made no sense. Kinda like trying to describe a Seinfeld plot

Mark Harrell

I really hope you get to watch "Wind River” with Jeremy Renner. Such a good movie.

Uncle Phoenix

The sandstorm was cgi. Cause if a sandstorm even smaller than that would come in it would be pitch black inside it

Night King01

Did we ever get an audio fix for Mission Impossible III? Because every place I try to download from is missing audio from around 1:00:00 to 1:50:00. Still. Right now. I know some of the comments said it was fixed, but where? Or did something happen and the old file got put back up?

Larry Darrell

4 re-energized the franchise, 5 is great, but it's hard to beat 6 with Superman bringing out the gunshow :P

TwistedMagoo

This was my first time watching MI4. Loved it. Great reaction ladies.

Rick Williams

Very true. You can say that every Mission Impossible movie is good. Some are obviously better, but how many franchises can say that? It’s everything you want in an action franchise. They are well made and fun.

James1035

Very few cinematic franchises have the opportunity to get progressively better with each installment, but Mission Impossible somehow does exactly that. It’s hard for me to admit it, but I think that is because of Tom Cruise himself. His early career made my eyes roll because it was obvious they wanted him to look-at-the-camera-and-smile in every movie, but the past decade has turned me around. This MI was a huge improvement over the previous three and it just gets better from here. Love that you both loved it!

Ike

Most definitely my favorite of the Mission Impossible series. It was good to see it again, and especially good through yours and Carly's reactions. Love the suspense, action and bits of humor.

Eric

I had not noticed that musical cue. Thanks for noticing that. My concern is that the swanky TV theme is not portrayed consistently in the movies. In the main title of this movie, it is very weak, but in the next installment, M:I 5, the title theme is very strong, meaning more consistent with the original TV theme.

MikeLL

YES TommyC does all of his stunts https://youtu.be/z8ietmnBmAQ https://youtu.be/16BFrEBZQS4 https://youtu.be/64LlaDAyGx0 ☝️☝️⬆️⬆️

Audrey

One thing I love about the ending is that the composer (who also scored the previous movie) brought back the "Julia love theme" that was used throughout MI3. The whole MI series is kind of weird in that it only really has one recurring music theme from movie to movie - the original, swanky TV theme. So it was a welcome surprise when Michael Giacchino pulled a "John Williams" and brought back a theme from a previous movie that represented a specific character or relationship.

WastedPo

I will never forget seeing this film in IMAX in December, 2011. This is the point in the film series where the Mission Impossibles became noticeably superior to that other spy movie franchise that were coming out at the same time. Since you haven't seen those movies yet, let's just say that they featured the spy heroics of an agent whose initials were JB, and I'm not talking about Jason Bourne. Jeremy Renner was not settled in our minds as Hawkeye when this movie came out, as he had only just cameoed as Hawkeye in Thor in May of 2011. He certainly made an impression in this movie. My only point of contention is how each film composer has to subtly alter the epic main theme song, and put their own imprint on the tune. I prefer the sound of the original TV series theme tune, and here it is from 1969: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwpXUn2dF5c

MikeLL

Yeah, maybe the snack reviews BEFORE the movie starts? Not really a huge deal to me. Just a suggestion. :)

Philip Alan

I don't mind the snack sounds during the movie, per se! But reviewing the snacks during the movie does distract you sometimes. You missed some tiny things in the beginning. Not a big deal, I'm just weird like that. (wanting you to see/hear every word spoken so you don't get lost)

Philip Alan

Three things you can count on in life... Death, Taxes & Tom Cruise doing his own stunts. He was on that building. He was descending down on one of the tallest buildings in the world. Great reaction, you two!

Philip Alan

Here's one of my favorite tracks from the soundtrack. https://youtu.be/oIGhnwn7IBM 😊

Stefan Feyle

This was an amazing and fun reaction, I very much enjoyed every minute of it. I was so looking forward that realization regarding Julia. :) I think you understand now all the comments that this series is getting really good by the 4th movie. The first and third ones are good, but this was the first time in the series where I felt they really found their own voice and style. This movie is a perfect blend of spy, heist and thriller movie genres topped with a great team and cast and some crazy action stunts by Cruise. One of the reasons why the Burj Khalifa segment is so good is because he actually did the stunt himself hanging on the side of the building. Only the wires were digitally removed, making it feel so real because most of it was and not just the usual green screen effect put together in a studio. If you haven't checked it already, it is worth watching behind the scenes video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVHphI8xm9I As someone who has some acrophobia, watching this scene is always a thrilling experience for me and my hands are getting sweaty even just thinking about looking down from that height. Ghost Protocol might be my personal favorite in the series, although this might change once I rewatch the next ones as I've only seen those once in theater yet. Also, if you enjoy seeing these exotic, luxurious locations, you're in for a treat with the Bond series. Based on the reaction of the Khalifa stunt, I leave one movie suggestion that would be a thrilling reaction experience for you (talking about personal experience): The Walk (2015). It is a true story about a high-wire artist who in 1974 realized his dream walking a wire between the two towers of the World Trade Center.

Gábor Árki

3 and 4 are really good. 5 and 6 are better, imo.

Brent Petty

4 is ok but 5 is arguably the best since the first film

Odd Thomas

I saw MI4 in IMAX 3 times. It was worth it just for the Dubai scenes. What I like about Tom Cruise is he knows what cool actors to put in the MI movies. Always keeping Ving has been a good call. Adding Simon Pegg last one, adding Jeremy Renner in this one, Rebecca Ferguson in MI5, Henry Cavill in MI6. Lock and load those guns Henry. MI7 looks really good too.

TommyJ.

Was fortunate enough to be able to watch part of this one get filmed in the Vancouver area. Was a fun experience and the movie turned out great.

Andrew

yeah its nuts.. there is a behind the scenes featurette on youtube i think.. pretty cool

24fps_

Love the sister chatter, don’t ever apologize or worry about that. It’s what makes you all so much fun! If you are going to do a rewatch I’m voting for The Bourne series. Sooo good. My wife and I watch it every New Year’s, all four of them we BingeWatch them. You asked last night on the live if the snack trying thing bothered us, it doesn’t me I actually look forward to seeing what new snack you’re going to try! And finally hope all goes well Carly, I know exactly how you feel as I was rear ended over a year and a half ago and ended up permanently injured. Understand the whole headache thing completely. Best wishes look forward to seeing you well in coming reactions!!

Steven Ashford

Ghost Protocol was my favorite in the series; thought after the third one in 2006 there weren't going to be any more and had kind of forgotten about it a bit, but this one rekindled my interest

JL_83

Love your stuff but please put your snacks in bowl. A crinkling bag on microphone is nails on a chalkboard

Eric Wallace

Let me just say that your reviews with Carly are great. Especially when it’s something you both enjoy and aren’t getting scared. It’s a joy to watch.

James1035

Happy that Tom Cruise decided to stay. Say what you will about him he knows how to make an entertaining movie. Can’t wait for the new one next year

James1035

The BEST in the series...

Doubting Thomas

Fun fact. Jeremy Renner was originally being setup to take over the face of the franchise but Tom ultimately decided to stick with it since production was now largely in his hands.

aarswft

Would a VPN help?

aarswft

So sad with the full reactions that the US and EU don't use the same framerate, so i only see the yt edition,

Brian Berg

Thank goodness you finally posted this. Now I have something enjoyable to look forward to (for a change). Also, thanks for making the switch to you both wearing a full pair of earphones. Edit: I can't help but notice a curious thing. I assume the subtitles we see on your reaction are what you are seeing as you watch the movie. Well, the words are often not accurate to what the characters are actually saying. (In the movie, Benji says of Julia, "I liked her." But the subtitles say, "I liked it," which doesn't make sense. ... And a little later, Ethan says, "The nest is empty," but the subtitles say, "The disks are empty." ... Who the heck did the subtitles for this movie? Jeez, this person had ONE job to do. It's like a non-native speaker did it.)

WastedPo

These are all great but for what it’s worth the next 2 are my favourites!

James UK

I can't wait for the Top Gun: Maverick reaction, which the movie is available for digital purchase this Tuesday the 23rd!

David Crabtree

I really like MI 1-3, but from Ghost Protocol to now they get really good. One of the best action series going. Glad you and Carly like them too.

James1035

When you went to see Top Gun: Maverick, did you get the MI:7 trailer? Do you try to not watch trailers of sequels for movies that you’re in the process of watching?

Burrito Jimmy

Before I even watch, I already know 1 question you’re gonna ask. And yes, Tom Cruise really did climb the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.

Shehab Dawoud

Awesome! Can't wait to watch this later today.

Michael Lynch

Glad you two loved it and can't wait to see your reaction!
