Cassie's reaction to this was randomly suggested while I was sifting through various videos on YT. I loved how Cassie wanted to almost protect innocent Charlie and how she was snarkly with her comments toward headmaster Trask and his gavel, lol. "Is that even a real gavel?" haha. I laughed so hard at that comment. Then I went on to see more of her reaction videos. Saw she reacted to Firefly also and I was binge watching her Firefly reactions and I easily became hooked and became a patron here. Thank you for the entertainment and wonderful reactions Cassie! You're the best.

As if she needed yet another reason to watch THE GODFATHER now. She'll know Caan as the father in ELF.

That's sad news. Caan was a modern day Steve McQueen who never got the big star roles and who was underrated as an actor. He auditioned for the role of Michael Corleone and was initially very disappointed not to get it. He turned out to be the perfect Sonny. One of my favorite Sonny scenes is at the end of part II when he introduces Connie to Carlo and where Michael tells him he joined the Marines. He starts out playful and happy and switches quickly to seething. Loved James Caan.

I was a big fan of his too. I like him more than Pacino, and he's way cooler. People know him from "elf" but he was a serious badass when he was young. I remember seeing "Rollerball"(1975) in the theatre as a kid. I sat through it twice. "Thief"(1981)is excellent and I think a better Michael Mann movie than "Heat". "Alien Nation"(1988) is a classic Sci-Fi movie. He was one of a kind. R.I.P.

This has nothing to do with SCENT OF A WOMAN, but I just found out that James Caan died. A true cinematic legend. She would know him primarily from ELF, but his filmography is long and varied. A hell of an actor he was. As if Cassie needed another reason to watch THE GODFATHER now.

"What a charmer." [5:05]
He rode that charm all the way to a prime-ministership, but there too, his charm proved limited.

[Follow the bouncing ball!]
Cassie might remember James Rebhorn (headmaster Trask) from his role as the FBI expert witness in My Cousin Vinny. She didn't seem to be any more enchanted with him then. :-)
Al Pacino's very next movie was Carlito's Way, which starts off with another brief tussle with Rebhorn in a courtroom.
The "trial" scene in this movie unsurprisingly brings to mind Finding Forrester (2000), Sean Connery's penultimate movie. The role of James Rebhorn ( :-) ) is played by F. Murray Abraham. (I believe Finding Forrester has been recommended by several patrons.)
This too was a sorta rematch of a previous confrontation in The Name of the Rose (1986).

If we want Al Pacino "legal" speeches, then: And Justice for All (1979).

Pretty soon it will be, “Do you know why I stopped you? Oh wait, aren’t you Cassie from Popcorn In Bed? I loved your reaction to the traffic stops in Fargo and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. OK, stay safe and please slow down a bit.”

I remember enjoying For Love or Money (which I bought in a box set including The Secret of My Success and Career Opportunities). I recently bought Burn Notice. I might get around to watching it before DVD players become extinct.

Besides "Burn Notice", the best Gabrielle Anwar movie is "For Love or Money" with Michael J. Fox in 1993.

The way Al Pacino wields his voice...
Gabrielle Anwar has a slightly reminiscent role in Things to Do in Denver When You're Dead (1995).

Pacino won the Oscar for this as a way of apologizing for not giving him one for GODFATHER, SERPICO or DOG DAY AFTERNOON. I know people of a certain age think this is a great movie, and I guess Pacino did a good job not blinking on camera, but for me his character was completely phony and unbelievable. And lots of scenes seem to be nothing more than assembling a bunch of characters in a room so they can witness another Frank tirade. Not my cup of tea.
