Creed (2015) - Full Reaction

Carly and I really liked this, it felt different and the same and just what we wanted. I LOVE ROCKY, I want him to be my "unc" too.  I feel like I know him, I can't believe this character has spanned decades and still fun to watch.

Creed (2015) - Full Reaction

Comments

Im loving catching up on the full movie reactions. I only have 7 (lost collection quitting a job-long story lol-..but I will be adding to collection

Dana Regan

No one leaves Philly without having tried a cheese steak..

Celeste McAllister

Funny that Carly mentioned the announcer likes to rhyme. He's a real boxing announcer named Max Kellerman who in the 1990s dropped a not-horrible rap song lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WF0DntqwMKg

An Inanimate Fucking Object

Dudes really arguing over movies it’s not that serious lol

Richard

Interesting detail, Carly mentioned how Adonis "needed his Adrian" aka Bianca, and that comment is pretty on point, since Adrian's name is derived from the word for "dark" or darkness, and Bianca's name is derived from the word for "white" or pure, hence they're supposed to be opposite and yet thematically related.

AzraRillian

Eh…it tells part of his story and leaves out the not-so-great parts RE: Joe Louis.

Jason Chirevas

Creed’s a great follow up to Rocky because it gets back to an original idea that gets lost in the Rocky sequels which is What pushes someone to fight for a living? Those are the two best boxing movies with Fat City not far behind.

Luis

Highly recommend "Cinderella Man" when you finish the Rocky/Creed franchise. Really amazing and underappreciated film about a real life fighter with a great story.

Dom

"Creed went full circle," they said. Creed 2 goes full full circle. These 2 movies in the series are good, but its so hard to beat 1 & 2 though. Rocks such a relatable character to "I think." Some people get him, some feel above him, others adore him. But he's still just true, despite what movie or what issue. And also he's pretty effective being so.

Michael J

It's truly been a great journey following along with your experience with the Rocky series. From loser's bracket of your sports poll to a centerpiece of your channel. Can't wait for Creed 2, the to date finale of the franchise.

KTVindicare

I don't even understand how they pulled that off. It was amazing that it was all in one shot.

Johnny

The one shot take of the fight between Leo and Adonis by cinematographer Maryse Alberti was just incredible. I’ve always likened it to the first use of the steady cam in the running of the steps scene in Rocky.

Burrito Jimmy

I put Creed third on my fav Rocky movie. Rocky, Rocky II, and Creed.

G

He beat cancer. What else do you want?

Jason Chirevas

Not a fan of this film and what it did to the Rocky character whose defining characteristic was the inability to give in to hardship, but I loved your take on the intro with the two of you switching places. Awesome!

Sean Novack

Cassie, you should check out this interview w/ Michael B Jordan talking about getting KO'd on the set of Creed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qq2GdZ-GuEI

Brent Petty

Such a great combination of the old with the new. Love this movie.

Eddie

great reaction great movie . My Favorite part of the whooooole thing " Stop Sign " 😂😂😂 and can I just say you 2 are the prettiest most adorable sisters around its impossible not to smile and be happy spending time with you 💖

Sam R.

I don't think I ever left. lol I also kind of stick with I and II. Outlander was good... until they left and crossed the Atlantic then it kind of went downhill for me. (sister made me watch it... I swear. ;) Greatest love story though... really? Even greater than "As you wish"? :)

Doug Fisher

I'm assuming you were talking about the Just Mercy movie, it's such a good drama movie. And Michael B. Jordan had a whole bunch of small roles before making it big. The beginning of this movie is heartbreaking. So many people were trying to help him to stay on track. But there's no movie if he stayed in his desk job.

Eddie

well I hope you got back to 2, It is one of my favorites. Watching Cassie fall in love with that movie really was touching. I still say Sly himself needs to see it lol, she connected with every beat of that movie.

Erik Daniel

Lol, yea that intro was something else. Y'all had me belly laughing at 3 am. I was up till 530 am watching this great reaction, which made for a long day at work but it was the right choice. Without overdoing it can I just say how great you both are. You brighten up every day that I'm lucky enough to watch a movie with you. In a world that "aint all sunshine and rainbows" as Rocky would say, thanks for being the sunshine.

Erik Daniel

You're correct, the FAQ doesn't seem to be here anymore. Basically what you need to do is to watch your own copy, or stream it, rent it whatever, and synch your copy with Cassie's reaction.

Johnny

I’m going back to 1976 right now to watch Rocky. I miss Adrian and Mick Cassie - I’m telling you. If you want an epic love story. Continue watching Outlander. In my opinion that show has the greatest love story that I’ve seen on TV or in the movies. Plus you get action in 18th Century Scotland 💁🏻

Tara

Mike Lemon, I looked and looked for an FAQ for this group and still do t see it. I’ve looked at the top of both the YouTube page and the Patreon page and didn’t see anything at all.

Maurine Hume

I love "First Blood" the Action Figure starring Rambo movies that came after I can leave.

Mark Sylvester

Yeah. You need your own copy to watch along because of copyright.

Samuel Newman

As always, a wonderful reaction from the Popcorn in Bed duo; Cassie and Carly. I share the exact sentiment with Cassie on how we've seen Rocky through the years from his humble beginnings and followed his journey through life for over four decades. It's truly incredible. I also agree with you that Rocky is Sylvester Stallone personified on screen. With that said, I think it's time you met his alter ego; John Rambo! First Blood (1982) is one of the greatest movies of all time and showcased a whole different side to the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Sly Stallone.

Ramzi M. A. Ramzi

Cobra Kai, season 5 pushed up!!!

Michael J

Are all of the movies blurred out with barely any sound??? I can’t see or hear anything going on in the movie. Help????

Maurine Hume

Who freaking cares, the movie was excellent...

Joe Mallard

I watched "Just Mercy" today, after Carly and Cassie spoke about it, never seen it before. Boy did this movie break me :(

Dirk Rheeder

I couldn't even read that string of comments. I started to and then just gave up.

Stick Figure Studios

The finale is just a rehash of Rocky. The 'closed eye', 'going the distance', a 'split decision', getting the champs respect and the crowds admiration......Nothing new here. Thankfully he didn't call for 'Adrian' !!!

Darren Hill

I can't describe how much joy watching you two enjoy these films has brought me. Each one always goes right to the top of my watch list. A majority successful film franchise is so rare. I never would have guessed how much you guys have appreciated each one. But even I forget exactly how good they are until a rewatch.

Daryl

Omg. The intro alone is worth it. You two are great, glad you can have fun. Cassie, you needed to yawn while Carly was do the intro😂 Carly was pretty emotional at the end. I think Cassie is rubbing off on her. Carly, I’m with you on Pauly!

Steven Ashford

The microphones make a huge difference, thank you, sometimes it was very hard to hear what you both were saying. Thumbs up! PS: For the love of all headphone users, please stop knocking them though :) hehehe

Dirk Rheeder

That intro ladies was downright hilarious! I was impressed. I don't think you recognized the actress who played Bianca (Tessa Thompson) from Thor Ragnarok and Avengers Endgame as she played Valkryrie from those movies. Also Michael B. Jordan and Wood Harris (that actor from Remember the Titans) actually worked together on the highly critically acclaimed TV show The Wire. Jordan was probably around 15 years old at that time.

Shawn Kildal

Don't know if either of you ever watched the show PARENTHOOD, but Michael B. Jordan was on that for a while.

Stick Figure Studios

Agreed.

Stick Figure Studios

Yes... to all of this

Stick Figure Studios

For me, it's the best movie after the first ROCKY, but it's close.

Stick Figure Studios

Real quick on a couple of the technical questions you guys raised… Adonis beat Leo “The Lion” by technical knockout (TKO) meaning, in this case, Leo did beat the 10 count, barely, but the referee decided he wasn’t fit to continue the fight. This one I think Carly figured out but when Conlan went down in the last seconds of the 12th and final round, he still had to beat the referee’s 10 count to avoid losing by knockout. The bell ending the round, which would have come only a second or two after he went down, would not end the fight. So, Conlan had to get up and be judged fit to continue even though, at that point, the fight was over. As for CREED, it’s the best in the series since the first Rocky. I’ve seen it four times now and I’m consistently impressed with how well made and reverent it is while taking the saga in a new direction.

Jason Chirevas

Just Mercy is the movie Carly mentioned.

Kim Lotarski Szabo

Oh wow, beyond ready for this, thank you. I had a hunch since you first fell in love with Rocky that old man Rock would really melt your heart. And the chair is still up in the tree...and he reads her the paper, probably every day. How 'bout that.

Erik Daniel

Great reaction ladies! I particularly enjoyed the little role reversal between you and Carly at the beginning! 😂 As far as the movie goes, I like Creed. And seeing your reaction made it that much better. The more I see you guys get into the Rocky universe. The more I think running up the steps in Philly is in your future! 😀 Looking forward to Creed II

Robert da Spruce

Creed is the second-best Rocky movie and the only one that gets within arm’s length of the original. I don’t know what people are talking about when they say it’s too much like the original, that’s a totally bizarre criticism. It’s a nearly flawless passing of the torch. It manages to be its own thing while acknowledging its roots. I’d also go so far as to say this is a career-best performance for Stallone, and he should have won the Oscar for it. That exchange at the end in Donnie’s corner is just so excellently written and directed. It’s this perfect release of tension that has both nothing and everything to do with the fight. For the record, I don’t think Creed 2 is as good, it feels a little too beholden to the past films, but I have high hopes for Creed 3. Even without Stallone.

Brian Harris

Uh as someone from the Philadelphia area, a lot of people in recent years drive ATV's in Philly. That's why it was incorporated into the film.

Jyn Jilly

Its definitely not the most successful franchise. Mission impossible, Harry potter, lord od the rings etc ... all are more successful

20 16

Love this one. Probably my favorite after the original Rocky. That scene where Rocky says "You're a Creed, and I love you, kid" gets me every time.

Justin Bernstein

To each their own. I wasn't a fan the first time I saw this and another viewing didn't help. I was disappointed the first time I saw it because I'm a huge fan of the Rocky series and this just didn't do it for me. It felt in many places like it was just trying to be a modern revamp of Rocky. In the end it just feels like any fight movie but Rocky is in it on the sidelines. I gotta say about the one scene though- the recreation of Rocky running through the street when they guys on ATVs popped wheelies and circled Creed- its pretty funny in a bad way because it makes no freaking sense. I mean who even does that out in the country let alone in the city? Side note the intro was funny- hey team!

My_Cousin_Mose

Can I ask your age? Just curious to know the demographic that think Force Awakens would be the best Star Wars. Not having a go mind you. Genuinely curious.

Brian McGovern

LOL. 59 comments in the thread so far and probably 50% of those are Jonathan Patrick and 20 16 jousting back and forth. Looking forward to watching this tonight.

Brian McGovern

Great job ladies. I put this reaction among the best. You were so animated, so invested. This reaction was top tier for me in the vain of the first 2 Rocky's Star Wars and LOTR. I rally think you'll enjoy Creed 2 and can't wait for you to see why. Thank you and see you again soon.

David Freese

I’ve thought that was possible for a little while now.

Jason Chirevas

I cannot recommend this enough. Gabriel Rosado, Creed’s opponent and a professional fighter, watching boxing scenes, including this one, from movies: https://youtu.be/WlVT3bpkTqE

Lamar Smith

Michael B. Jordan actually did take that knockout punch that they show in the fight. The clips are on Youtube. Stallone kinda tricked him by saying that it was a "Rocky tradition" to take a real punch, and the Ricky Conlan guy (who's a real fighter, I don't remember his name) hit him with about 40% power...and down he went. That's why it looks so real in the movie.

Caomhan84

Really enjoyed the film. Thanks for a great evening.

Grinznmore

We're here. You made it. Through all of the ROCKY movies and now into the CREED movies and you are in for a treat. These are terrific. This is how you reboot a decades-old franchise (this and COBRA KAI). I am excited for you to see both of these movies. I know you will love them. I remember seeing this in the theater and just being blown away. Jordan is great, Thompson is terrific and Stallone does some of the best acting of his career, especially in THAT scene (you know the one I'm talking about: "My wife tried that," just breaks my heart). Also, to answer Carly's question, Stallone did not write this one. Ryan Coogler -- who also directed BLACK PANTHER -- came to Stallone with the idea/screenplay and convinced him to do it, which was a real victory for Coogler because Stallone was perfectly happy to let BALBOA be the end of his character's story. Stallone did write CREED II, though, and when you watch it you will see why. I really can't wait for you both to do that one. I know, Cassie, that you would love it if it ended here, but remember you said the same thing about ROCKY 2 and there was just more story to tell. Same here. You're going to see some exciting things in the sequel.. things that will answer questions and address desires that you have (maybe without even knowing that you have them). This movie was not a mistake.

Stick Figure Studios

That was one of your best reactions yet. Even though I've seen it several times, you and Carly were making me feel emotional watching it again.

Brad P

Oh thank god they switched seats after the intro. That was seriously throwing me off 😂😂😂 Are we building towards a Carly Popcorn spin-off channel? 🤔

Robin T

There are a lot of reasons I think this is a great movie. Ryan Coogler, the director, said that he got the idea for this story because his dad got sick when he was young. He had always thought of his dad as a powerful man, and to see him get the wind knocked out of him from the illness was really powerful for him. The Rocky movies were something they watched together, and so the series had great personal meaning for them. When Coogler went to pitch the movie to Stallone, he was really intimidated because Stallone created the character and was so protective of him. This is the first Rocky movie that Stallone had no part in writing. I think it really works in the film's favor though, in the sense that the movie parallels its own making. You just swap Coogler for Adonis, and Stallone for Rocky -- a young guy comes to lure the famous veteran out of retirement. In the scene where Donnie finds the photo of Robert, they used a photo from when Stallone's own son played Robert. As many mentioned, Stallone's son passed away, and I think you really feel a weight of emotion in the scene when Stallone talks about how he "moved to Vancouver." The great payoff for the movie is that Coogler's dad survived his illness and recovered, and got to attend the premiere of this movie that his son made resurrecting the character they loved so much. I agree with the commenter above that this is the best Rocky. It edges out the original, barely, but I also think Creed could not be what it is without the foundation of all the other Rocky movies. It manages to top it, but only by building on everything that came before. It also helps that I think Stallone gives one of the best performances of his career in the movie. "You're a Creed, and I love you kid" and "My wife tried that" are just such powerful moments. He deserved the Oscar.

Tyler Foster

I'm one of the few weirdos on this Earth that think "Creed" is the best "Rocky" and "The Force Awakens" is the best "Star Wars". I understand any scrutiny.

Ryan McKenna

Whoa! I didn't know this was happening so soon! Hell yeah!

Aaron

You're completely correct, the desert montage was trash.

Jonathan Patrick

Could have just said your a rocky fan a without writing that whole mess . Its called creed for a reason . Your talking about not playing his theme song many times yeah no shit its not a rocky movie thats the problem with die hard fans that dont know when to move on . Thats why we some how had a ancient rocky fighting a heavy weight champion of the world which was ridiculous.

20 16

We did see Apollo's older kids briefly in Rocky II in the scene where Apollo is reading his hate mail to Mary Anne.

Brad P

Sahitya

Excellent movie, Stallone's acting is top notch!

Joe Mallard

This is where Rocky ends for me. Creed 1 was great bc it really kept Rocky a major part and played his music themes etc appropriately. I'm a die hard Rocky fan, and I'm watching for Rocky, that's why this ends for me after Creed 1. Possible ****SPOILER**** I HATE how they start to push Rock out of the picture in part 2. You can just tell that's what they're doing. They even didn't play his theme many times. Felt way different and Idk what ppl are talking about when they give it so much praise. And they pushed him out completely as he's not in part 3, and I will never believe it's what Sly really wanted. I'm not one of those it's time to pass the torch kind of people. No. Sorry. I watch for Rocky, which SLY created all these characters. They did him wrong and I just hope Sly makes another Rocky film away from Creed to fix that disrespectful mess. He said In an interview he has a Rocky film idea. I hope he does it. #Rocky

Jonathan Patrick

omg why did I think this was a month away

Justin Bernstein

These were well done but honestly didn't have the same heart as the first ones. I only saw the Creed movies once but from what I remember they didn't have as good of training montages or the soundtrack.

Michael Lynch

I'm honestly 64 minutes into your full reaction Rocky 2 as I type. That will be put on hold for now, now that I see this.

Ryan McKenna

Nice. Carly doing the intro.
