Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Full Reaction

Hey guys! From what I gathered, a lot of people went into this movie with low expectations or not knowing what to expect and ended up really liking it. I had heard that that everyone loved it so I went in with high expectations and was entertained however, somewhere during the middle it almost felt too fairytale-ish for a minute? It's always fun to watch a movie with Carly though and I'm excited to see where this story goes.

Ps. Sorry I kept pronouncing his name wrong!! Ps 2. I watched this on Disney Plus.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings - Full Reaction

Comments

I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

Damon

Great reaction as always. Are you going to watch Dr. Strange today Cassie ?

The King In The North

Hey Cassie. Don't know if you noticed that Trevor is the doctor from Shutter Island. If you really want your mind blown please do a reation to Ghandi and see a young Ben Kingsley.

mattosh79

Also Kung Fu Hustle (which actually features the same actor who played Katy's archery instructor - also Shang Chi has a poster of Kung Fu Hustle in his room :))

Michael Jung

If Carly is interested in seeing how everything in the MCU ties together, I wrote an article for Looper on the Entire MCU Timeline Explained that takes you through all the MCU movies and TV shows in chronological order. The article was then adapted into a YouTube video that you can find by doing a search for "The MCU Timeline Fully Explained" on the Looper channel. Plenty of spoilers, but once you're done watching everything to the Hawkeye TV show, you can watch the video or read the article for a refresher (I'm currently updating the article to include everything up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Moon Knight)

Michael Jung

Looking at Cassie’s letterbox she hasn’t seen Crouching Tiger or Hero with Jet Li and Tony Leung (who played the father in this one). I wonder if Cassie would like either of these films which are a mixture of fantasy, martial arts, and China historical times

Sean Stuart

She loved LotR, so I'm guessing it was the latter. But considering Dr. Strange is a thing in the MCU, not sure why this such a stretch for her.

Richard Maurer

They obviously saw it: "Come on sister, be good" in their outro. Seems like it got edited out though?

Planner

I think when she said she was watching Loki separately on their own she meant that they won't react to it together. On her IG story she said she was watching Loki

Philip G.

Follow her IG! She stated she will be doing Loki and was in the process of filming it

Philip G.

It's also, of all the Disney+ shows, probably the most important to setting up the next big phase of the MCU

Robin T

I hate that you're not doing Loki. It's so good.

Godzilla Jones

I have a feeling you'll be watching another movie with the actor who played Razor Fist sometime very soon.

Brad P

My third watch (with you two) and I have no problem with this movie. I like the different feel for this movie ("fairy tale") and I love the humor. I went in with low expectations, that's for sure. But ended up really enjoying this one.

Philip Alan

I thought it was funny that you made it a point to watch the end credits scene, so you watched the mid-credit scene, then still missed the end credit scene.

Johnny

Loved your reaction. There was a 2nd post credit scene.

Scott O

I liked the first half more also. I think it’s why I like captain America and Batman more. Slightly more grounded to reality.

TinCan Cosmanaut

You missed a second and more important after credit scene. You should watch all Marvel movies to the very end.

SilentBobFather

Had not seen this one yet so it was fun to watch it "together" I actually enjoyed this more than I thought I might . The fighting was great and I enjoyed the mystical elements .

Canadianant

Wait, did I hear right? Your not going to react to Loki? Please tell me I miss-heard that.

Rainbow Dash

It was so fun watching the two different reactions in fight scenes...Cassie was worried but Carly was into the fighting.

Anthony Perez

I do want another view to just kind of re test my own opinion. Thats why I wont watch the reaction. Cause I may watch it in sync with this. I just put one big pair of headphones to the TV, over ear buds on the phone lol, serious.

Michael J

Did you ladies catch the actual END scene, not overly important, but, you must remember to stick through the credits. We have an appearance by Carly’s feet at the end of the movie. Are you planning on doing an in theater reaction for Dr. Strange? You still have Loki, Hawkeye, What If, and Eternals.

Andrew Hogan

I thought the opposite. Eternals seemed too grandiose to me. I won’t go into details for obvious reasons but a little too self important. This caught me off guard, I just watched it because it was part of the next chapter, but I ended up enjoying it. It certainly didn’t have the weight that some of the other films do, but like Guardians, it was an interesting departure. Eternals had decent moments and characters, but to me there were a few too many plot holes, even for a super hero movie.

Andrew Hogan

Great film, but probably not gonna happen. Anything "demonic" is an automatic pass for Cassie.

Stick Figure Studios

Exactly my take.

Stick Figure Studios

I was underwhelmed. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't especially good either. Safe, formulaic and unremarkable. Middle-tier Marvel for me (I actually liked ETERNALS much more, even though it was more critically panned). Still looking forward to this reaction though (as always).

Stick Figure Studios

In regards to the next poll, 2015 was not a great movie year. But here are some that would be worthy of being on the poll: The Hateful Eight, The Witch, The Visit, The Lobster, Straight Outta Compton. Would LOVE a reaction to The Witch

Shehab Dawoud

Exactly my take.

Damon

I’ve seen all the movies you listed and like all of them, but I’m not a big horror person. Still… I can’t wait for Cassie to watch ET

Tara

If Cassie was interested in some of the martial arts scenes in this perhaps Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon should be on the schedule at some point.

Mark M

Haven’t watched the reaction yet but my problem with Shang-Chi, which I quite liked overall, might align with Cassie’s in that I thought the finale was too…big. This is essentially a story about a family and I thought that was diluted by the grand-scale, Lord of the Rings-style final battle.

Jason Chirevas

It’s mid-level MCU. Not nearly the best but not the worst, either.

Mr Trick

So it was asked if the big green guy fighting Wong was some one you should recognize or remember from other films. He’s changed visually, but that’s Blonksy, the Abomination from the Ed Norton Incredible Hulk film. He’s been changed to look more accurate to his comic book version.

djKENTO

I love that they ask us to stay for the end credits but still ended up missing the end credit sequence. Marvel, man. They want you to stay right to the very end for when the curtains close. They wil put in 2 credit sequences. I had a feeling that they would miss the very end credit sequence. At least we will get another video that reacts to the very end credit sequence. Oh and it is probably too late, but there is a companion piece to this that came out some time ago. It is called All Hail the King and is about what happens to Trevor Slattery after Iron Man 3.

Brian McGovern

Also let's get into that mob genre. It's time.

nick bell

Just reacting to your IG post. Ex Machina and The Revenant are both excellent films and I have no doubt your reaction to both would be amazing. Bridge of Spies is a well made film that's just kind of dull.

nick bell

Na, its not a style thing. Its like, I like Coke but hate Pepsi, but like soda. I like fast machines but hate Kawi. I never ride those well any make or year it seems. If that makes sense. I don't hate fantasy, just don't care for certain ones. I cant even say fully why, just a "yea I liked it." or "It wasn't bad but." I don't like Rocky 5, but love the series. I cant really control the why in that. And I do understand people probably love it. Why we do or don't on anything though, who knows?

Michael J

Hey Cassie, question : are you not a fan of magical and mystical things? Or did this just catch you off Gaurd because it was more grounded in the beginning.

Philip G.

This and Eternals were actually my favorite Marvel projects since Endgame. Purely because they felt like the start of new stories, rather than an epilogue of Endgame. Not to say I didn't enjoy Wandavision, Falcon and Winter Soldier, Spiderman, etc... but they also had an air of "this is what these guys did after Thanos". Shang Chi felt NEW and it really did wonders for my enjoyment. Not to mention I don't know much about Chinese mythology and I like seeing things I'm unfamiliar with.

Aaron

Not sure what you mean. You've literally watched Lord of the Rings. As Fantasy as it can get. You've seen a purple alien snap his fingers with rocks and kill trillions of people, but you draw the line on dragons, hybrid animals that are based on real world mythology? That seems so ass backwards. If you're this balls deep into Marvel, "too fairy tale like" should be out the window by now 🤣

Lorenzo Baxter

Oh I saw this in the theaters. A bit unwillingly, but still lol. Friends deep into hero stuff, and I am to a point. Like I love like Batman, Superman, (Spiderman is my fav, with Kristen and Tobey, thus I'm odd man out on that. But at least I'm honest.) And thats as far as it goes lol. So I had no dang clue what I was watching here. He had to see it though 😝 So I like the icing of the cake in the universe. But Im not into the whole cake of it all (Spidy game is freak good, and story for a game! That was shockingly good.) Did I like this, um iffy? I like Die Hard, Jeremy Maguire, Breakfast Club, Titanic, Days of Thunder, Harry Potter, 10 Things I Hate about you (Julia!) Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, The Longest Yard, Stranger Things series, Lord of the Ring trilogy, Friday the 13th, Halloween, horror anything, Titanic!, Weird Science, REMEMBER THE TITANS, plus I kind of know the real QB from that story, honest! Goofy sports movies, Tin Cup with a epic Kevin Costner, anything good, sad, love, but all fun lol 😝. And of course, the movie youd have to have noooooo heart to not love growing up. E.T. And you just know the types of others that would too 🙃 And many more movies, I'm stuck in the middle of your Patron that seems to be. Im either younger lol, or older it seems then most here. Im Like stuck between most users is what I mean. But yea, I don't have this as a top 50? Sorry. "For the Love of the Game" now, for baseball, yea, guessing I'm the only one that saw that? 🤔 And E.T. Which ill bet 6000 now you'd love! 😄
