A Wee St. Paddy's Poll

Hi friends, welcome to a new week, fresh start, first page of a brand new notebook Monday!

I wanted to do a little St. Patrick's Day Poll and I got a lot of requests for this one. For these options I just made it simple by doing (from what I can gather) takes place in Ireland, or mostly Irish characters.

I have seen Far and Away on the channel and really loved it. I have seen the movie "Brooklyn", "The Waking of Ned Divine" (I  have never heard my dad laugh harder than in that movie) and "Sing Street" I watched just recently.

I am excited about these options (I think I know which is going to win based on previous comments) St. Patrick's Day for me is always a fun reason to celebrate and do fun things with the kids and focus on the rainbows in the storms :)

We need to start adding Roy Rogers and Randolph Scott films to vote on. Youtube viewership will explode.. lol

Gideon James

Dont know if you have seen it but you should have had Gangs Of New York on here as well with Leonardo DiCaprio Daniel Day Lewis and Cameron Diaz a really great movie!

Mike Ortiz

Quiet Man is a good movie, and it also stars John Wayne & Maureen O'Hara - great combo

JarHead0351

Definitely The Quiet Man, a all time classic.

Matthew Dunham

I sent Cassie "Davy Crockett" grandpa's favorite Disney lol

Celeste McAllister

The Quiet Man is great and so different than current movies.

sourcreamus

Quiet Man is a great movie.

Rick Williams

The Cowboys and Rio Bravo!!! I might increase my donations to see that. But the Quiet Man is the absolute best St Patrick’s day movie IMO!!!

James Payne

Actually I need The Quiet Man to win! I watch it EVERY St Patrick’s day! One of the few times this old man gets a few beers while watching it!!!

James Payne

Absolutely! And it wasn’t a life or death kind of fight. More of a man fighting another man over a slight!

James Payne

I think STAGECOACH would be a good choice. Also maybe MAN WHO SHOT LIBERTY VALANCE and RED RIVER.

Stick Figure Studios

Sunday Bloody Sunday is another tough watch, but brilliantly made.

Brian O'Grady

Oh ... and Rio Bravo co-starring Dean Martin, Walter Brennan and Ricky Nelson. Actually Dino and Ricky sing a couple of swell songs in that flick. And Angie Dickinson adds a touch of feminine charm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CBBuV1jZpE

I really wish she can watch The Cowboys with John Wayne. I might donate to see if she'll watch it as a request.

Fort Apache, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon, Sands of Iwo Jima, The Searchers come to my mind right away but I can see how a classy lady like Cassie might not get as much enjoyment from them. I think True Grit had a lot of comedy and sentimental scenes that might appeal more to her.

Wind That Shakes The Barley and Michael Collins should both be WAYYY ahead of Once and The Devil's Own. Angela's Ashes is another depressing one- often weird at times. Black '47, Shadow Dancer, '71, The Boxer I also enjoyed.

Bill W

All great movies and different aspects of Ireland but I know people often see Irish people as happy go lucky but we have been burdened with a lot of dark history and I just hope maybe it should be known for the wind that shakes the barley and Michael Collins are great Irish historical movies but that’s just my opinion on the matter 🇮🇪

dara ryan

Cassie has seen that remake, but she has never seen John Wayne in any movie.

Mike LL

When Maverick pulls ahead and wins?

nick bell

I chose The Quiet Man too, although it's not my favourite John Wayne movie. Would love to see True Grit here one day (if it hasn't been done already ... I'm a newbie.) The remake from a few years back was almost as good.

"Gnome-mobile, Gnome-mobile, riding along in our Gnome-mobile."

Christopher Smith

What, no love for “The Gnome-Mobile”???

C-Ball

Anybody know when this poll ends?

Mr Jordan

The fight scene in “The Quiet Man” is epic, and the music is unforgettable
