It's been a really long time since I've seen this movie and actually forgot about it. Then, I saw that it was on HBO Max and watched it. It was SO good and SO much fun!! The soundtrack is so hype and amazing too. Then I watched Cassie's reaction because I remembered she had seen this, and it was such a joy to watch! It was so fun to see how animated she was and how much she enjoyed it. And yes, Keanu is so HOT in this movie!!!

I have always loved this movie. Sports movies in general are sort of a weakness of mine, but especially the ragtag, underdog types in films like this, Major League and I also really like Necessary Roughness with Scott Bakula!

Walter

I forgot how good this movie was. I haven't seen it sense it first came. Funny movie.

Rick Williams

Please watch another underdog football movie “ unnecessary roughness” please

Loved it Cass... one of my all time favourite movies!! 😁 I always had a bit of a crush on Brooke Langton after this one. Your husband is a lucky man... pretty, smart, and knows sports... the trifecta!! 😉 Oh... another good coach movie by Gene Hackman is "Hoosiers".

Doug Fisher

I just realized the deaf receiver is Roy from The Office, and Don Price from Big Fish

I bet the Rams will come from behind to beat the Bengals 23-20 on a late touchdown.

You guessed the Rams score right on the nose. So close but yet so far. 😎🏈🏉🏈🏉

I believe cheerleaders are prevented also from serving alcohol in their day jobs. The sort of stereotypical job for cheerleaders was always dental hygienist that allowed them to get their smiles worked on for free. Whatever their profession, they’ll work, typically, full-time jobs then practice for 3 or more hours most days of the week. They’ll do appearances for various community events for which they get a pittance and while on their squads, forfeit their legal rights to their own images. The teams make money on their likenesses, they do/can not. Though they make more money now, it’s absolutely a labor of love. A long cheerleader career is 3 years. It’s highly competitive, they’re every move, gesture and word on and off the field highly scrutinized and criticized: “You weren’t smiling enough in the 8th hour of that appearance!” Their weight and appearance relentlessly critiqued. The hours long and in often miserable weather. Yet the vast majority reckon it a huge honor and one of the best experiences of their life.

On the $50/game for actual NFL cheerleaders has been pretty standard for far too long even for the most elite cheerleader squads like Dallas. Most squads put out calendars that supplement the income of only the girls chosen to appear. $50 doesn’t even buy the hose much less beauty supplies the women have to supply themselves. From my understanding, someone please correct me, past massive resistance by ownership and revelation of quite deep, pervasive and nasty corruption, squads fought legal battles to, I believe their solution, was to unionize. Cheerleaders across the league now get paid more but each lady, barring some other form of income, holds predominantly full-time jobs. There are all kinds of restrictions on them, nevertheless, first and foremost being no adult work of any kind, I want to say not even ‘Hooters’ waitresses. The ‘no fraternization’ rule is iron clad. If a cheerleader is in a restaurant and a player should walk in, she’s expected to leave immediately and report the contact to her squad. If there’s any question of fraternization or even co-location, she’ll be the one fired every time. All the responsibility lies with her.

Yes, this explanation is accurate except that one effective way to counter a blitz (not the only) is a short pass over an inside receiver who gets free by allowing the blitzing defensive player by him thus getting open. A very low percentage counter to a blitz is to try and run through it. The blitzers don’t particularly care if they hit a quarterback or running back so long as they hit the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage. Granted there was a great deal of confusion but changing the play was the right thing to do, changing it to a run up the middle was not. A quarterback that can outthink the defense even as late as the line of scrimmage is valuable so long as he changes the play to one that has a higher percentage of working not less. Shane didn’t should be accused of a brain not heart failure.

Odds and ends: 1. "Red Blitz" The coach had called for a passing play, but at the last moment Falco arguably loses his nerve and goes for a running play instead (which relieves him of the responsibility and pressure). When the coach berates him for that, Falco argues: "I read blitz," that is he "read" (from how they were set up on the field) that the other team was planning a "blitz" defence, which could justify his decision. 2. Keanu Reeve's hair waving from a mild jog definitely looks good, but in an almost laughable way. For a more authentic rendition, I prefer the beginning of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmSGUGGbRSQ (I feel like English Bob.)
