Upcoming...

Hello my friends!

How did everyone's first week of 2022 go?! I got Covid and found out I need an oral surgery sooooo...only way to go is up!  Good news is symptoms are pretty mild, all I want to do is curl up in bed with a good movie-oh wait?! We have a very fun and exciting line up this week! My first anime, another round of trying an in-theatre reaction, and then two huge ones with Solo and Rocky III (finally eye of the tiger?)

I can't believe in the end Maverick won, when I checked last, Unforgiven was killing it in the final and then by the time it ended Maverick had pulled ahead!  dejavue ;) I'm excited to watch both and from what I have heard they are on different sides of the western spectrum. I will watch Maverick this month and then Unforgiven at the beginning of next month THEN work the rest in throughout the coming months. I did hear that perhaps people found a way to rig the bracket system and vote more than once? I mean, lets keep it fun and fair ok?

Is it weird to have a poll on what poll we should have next? I have so many ideas but can't decide.

Also! We are going to have another YT Live on January 29th, probably around 3pm. (I said before somewhere it woud be the 22nd, but we don't want to compete with football ;) )We are going to celebrate one year since I posted my first video! I want to have a little award show "The POPpies"  This week I will put out a form with nominees in each category for you to vote on: "Best Comedy Reaction", "Best Sister Reaction" etc. Then during the live we will go all Oscars on you and read the winners (first time I'll see them as well!) Should I wear a ballgown in bed? Recruit celebrity presenters? jk!

One more thing-there is still $41 left on the Starbucks gift card, don't be shy, I may just top it off again this week as well :)

Much love,

Cassie

Really could use a Rocky 3 reaction for a chilly Friday night.

TL;DR version: To view the movies in a logical order of increasing "sophistication," follow this order: 1. Maverick 2. Tombstone 3. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 4. Unforgiven

Recommendation for Cassie when it comes to viewing the Westerns: (I know this will be overly simplified; writing a doctoral thesis would hardly be helpful.) 1. Watch Maverick first. It's the winner (darn the voters! :-) ) and an enjoyable movie. 2. Next watch Tombstone. While the newest of the remaining movies, it's the most old-fashioned of the bunch, with relatively clear cut good guys and bad guys. 3. Then for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. As mentioned, the old Westerns were black and white, both in colour and in morality. Then came the "Spaghetti Westerns" (so named because they were often Italian productions) and provided some good old European nuance :-). TGTBaTU is not only the exemplar of the Spaghetti Westerns, it is considered by most to be the best Western ever. It launched Clint Eastwood's career, has some beautiful cinematography, and what might be the best movie score ever, by the legendary Ennio Morricone. A must-see movie. 4. And finally, end with Unforgiven. (No need to actually end...) Clint Eastwood was the iconic star of the Spaghetti Westerns, and later went on to become an acclaimed director. He directed and starred in this movie, which can be seen as a coda to his Westerns career (and Westerns in general). While characters in Westerns had become more ambiguous, they were still larger-than-life charismatic figures. Unforgiven de-glorifies them and presents the sorry unvarnished truth behind the mythological facade. (Don't let what I wrote turn you off; Unforgiven is an excellent movie, not a lecture/sermon.) (Again, I know this is overly simplified. I don't see much point in nitpicking, but if you feel it necessary to defend the honour of old-school Westerns, who am I to stop you?)

"The POPpies"? Since we're dealing with videos, surely this should be "The POP-eyes"! I'm a sailor man! (Toot-toot!)

Clubber , whats your prediction .......PAIN

I think most western fans would not be happy without one of the legendary Sergio Leone westerns in there.

Considering the heat on the forum during the poll, I think you should give a chance to see your reaction to Maverick, Unforgiven AND Tombstone. I would say it will make you all corners covered and I guess more ppl happy 😎

A *free* like (!!!) to anyone who finds the connection between my previous comment and Cassie's last YouTube upload (Serenity).

Haters gonna hate. XD

But oh! that deep romantic chasm which slanted Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover! What's that? Wrong Xanadu? Ah, I see, you were speaking of Citizen Kane!

Happy Hanukkah

it's like a fairy tale! that level of creepy

Glad to hear it didnt hit you to hard I also started the new year with covid but it was also mild. youre doing great WOW 1 year and now youre a celebrity ! 😁

Sam R.

Xanadu would be even worse than Streets of Fire.

Dear Cassie, I hope you will get well soon and won't suffer from any long-term symptoms afterwards. 😢 I'm very happy that I could avoid getting Covid until now, even if I'm vaccinated twice and get my booster shot in two days. An oral surgery too? 😦 So I hope it is nothing too serious although a surgery itself already is very serious. Please, then let us know, wether everything went well and and how your healing process is going.

Most of the movie probably would have to be muted because of all the music.

Michael_AP

You won’t have to. If she watches that I’ll old school samurai myself and you can just donate mine!

Krusty “Topher”

I wonder how many organs I would have to donate to get you to watch Xanadu...
