Rocky II - Full Reaction

Comments

Great Reaction, Cassie. This movie put you through the emotional wringer. I was worried you were going to knock the camera over with the way you were bouncing all over the bed. Great movie. My favorite of the Rocky movies. I love how much you have come to love Rocky.

Rick Williams

Sylvester Stallone is a great actor and film maker. He should have won the Oscar for Rocky and Creed and at least should have been nominated for best actor/director/screen play for Rocky II.

Mohammed Alshahrani

I just became a subscriber on here. I have seen a few of your reactions on YouTube. After watching your reactions to the first two Rocky films I decided to become a Patron. That said, I am 46 and grew up on Rocky. I have the full set on Bluray and can tell you that I don’t cry during movies. Rocky is the exception. I cry during those movies almost every time I see them. Especially 1,2 and 6 (Rocky Balboa). All of them are inspiring and really play at the emotions. Even part 5 which is probably the worst one will still tug at you a bit. I love your reactions though because you are a lot like my life. She didn’t see most movies growing up. She won’t watch anything violent and Rocky was hard for her to get through. I just showed her the first two and the 6th one and that was enough for her which means I still watch them alone 😂

Steve Jones

Eye of the tiger is an 80's song. The first two films were from the 70's.

Brian Oliveira

I'm not sure if you knew this but Burgess Merideth who played Mickey also played Batman villan the Penguin in the 1966 Batman tv series and Movie (the show had the BOW and BAM during fight scenes)

Patrick Toscano

Cassie… who are you??? lol When the fight was starting, you said “Oh, he’s gonna try the switch and it’s gonna be good” and then you said “I’m so nervous, I won’t be able to enjoy it” Enjoy it? You were referring to a fight and we know how you feel about those. Wow! This was your best reaction yet. I could’ve just watched you with the blurry screen and it would’ve been awesome! I really hope you watch at least 3 and 4. You see the relationships and characters grow.

Tara

I hope Cassie will watch and react to Rocky III. It's true that the "formula" starts to become transparent but I think it has value in the sense of asking the question "What's the price of having your dreams come true?" I agree about Rocky IV. I think it's a jingoistic mess. I won't say any more because I don't want to feel like I'm telling anybody what to watch.

Jamie van Brewen

LOL!!!!!!!! "This is really starting to hurt my feelings!!" (as Rocky is getting severely beaten by Apollo)... LOL!!!! Dear Lady, you are a treasure!! I had so much fun watching this with you!! I saw this at the theater when I was a boy back in 1979. I still remember sitting next to my mom and watching her jumping up and down and "boxing"....my family never let her forget that...LOL!! Also, the theater was going crazy...it was almost like being at a real boxing event. People were shouting, men and women were crying, and when he stood up at the end of the count in the final round, making him the champion, the theater was cheering and applauding....and everybody was absolutely EXHAUSTED when they left the theater....LOL!! You made this so much fun again...it was like being in the theater again.....and I loved how you kept pointing at Apollo Creed and saying "Stop it!!...Stop it" when he was being an ass in the ring...LOL!! I look forward to watching another one with you again soon!!

Tipper1994

Sylvester Stallone's daughters, Sophia and Sistine Stallone have a Podcast on Youtube and a recent guest was their dad. It's pretty cool to see the real side of him.

JJ Actual

You can’t stop now! It continues to be great 3-4. Many hate the fifth film, but I didn’t think it was too terrible. Are you going to get back into some more Hitchcock stuff? The Birds, Vertigo, Rope, Strangers On A Train, Rear Window? Nudge nudge.

Glenn Burns

You hate Apollo heh? Don't worry you'll love him like we all do pretty soon!

Yann Laliberté

I honestly think you'd be satisfied with Rocky III and possibly even Rocky IV (that was the end of the line for me...lol) On another note, by the way, should you ever feel the urge to sneak in an old B&W film noire type of film again, I would suggest Double Indemnity (the original with Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyk), not the cheesy remake which doesn't even come close to the quality of the original!

Bill Poulter

I have seen this movie probably 15 times since I was a kid and it still makes me emotional every time. That "win" from Adrian and the bell sounding when she says it... what a perfect moment in a film.

voiceofraisin

I have watched so many reaction videos over the last 2 years (pandemic isolation therapy), and this was hands down the best one I've ever seen. Seriously, signing up for your Patreon was worth it just for this. I hope you do watch more Rocky movies. Your reactions to these films are gold. 1 and 2 are the best. 3 is decent. 4 is ridiculous but you have to watch it for the peak 80s that it is. 5 is kinda dumb but whatever. Rocky Balboa and the Creed movies are really good.

voiceofraisin

Lol, the reaction during the final fight was gold. I've seen this movie countless times and I still bob & weave on my couch during that fight. Your notion to stop watching Rocky after this one is a very understandable one. Although there is definitely enjoyment to be had watching the others, they have a hard time competing with the first two IMO.

Paul W

That's what I thought you thought it was. Us movie geeks have to stick together. If you ever have questions of your own about a movie that you've reacted to (provided I've seen it) I'll be happy to answer anything. For example...regarding Star Wars: There's no relation between Qui Gon Jinn and Jyn Urso (Rogue One) :)

Chris Reise

I am not a violent person, but I also want that guy to experience a "samurai breakthrough".

ArsTropica

I must break you

Mike Lipke

Definitely, and we all immediately felt protective of Cassie haha, can't understand who would send her hate mail but he's out of the building and better leave the parking lot before I get a break haha

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I think both Carl Weathers (Apollo) and Sylvester Stallone (Rocky) would have both gotten a kick out of your reactions during the climatic fight... with the exclamations and the literal dodging. I know I enjoyed it.

Michael Labs

Retired 1Lt here, Army is well represented brother.

Jon Johns

What are you even talking about?! It was like trying to figure out what Brad Pitts character in Snatch was saying! Are you wanting a caravan?!

Krusty “Topher”

Cassie what do they say to you? If you'd rather not say that's cool. :)

William Bryan

be careful what you wish for! haha

Cassie

haha you are so awesome, i am a pretty good “DIY” er, I just may be able to rig one up ;)

Cassie

AWWW THANK YOU! I was doubting myself with this one but really I was SO into it!! I think it is totally a chick flick with a little boxing here and there!

Cassie

love that! not to be confused with *butt kiss

Cassie

Hey Ike, glad you got to watch with me, haha that’s so funny about the grapes. as much as i loved that ending, i cant stop!

Cassie

you absolutely had to if you were there!!! please tell me you had the song on in your headphones

Cassie

i actually feel like after the fight, after it was said and done he was respectful about the loss

Cassie

You are too kind, thank you for saying that!!! i was nervous about this reaction because the next morning I was like “i was so dramatic, but at the time it felt so intense and it was so real for me!”

Cassie

don’t you worry, i still will, but sheesh that was a good ending!!! were they planning on continuing with more movies when this was made?

Cassie

haha ya i know those people are probably struggling themselves and am pretty good at ignoring it. 99 percent of people are more thank kind to me!

Cassie

Rüdiger Radtke

I think you should give me credit for knowing that it's not spelled "Butt-kiss"! :)

Alan Kobb

You would really like Rocky 3 and 4 to.

Arnold

Cassie helped me in a very dark time in my life. I was in the recovery room for six hours from a microdiscectomy(bulging vertebrae disc) and was browsing through my YouTube channel. Her reaction to Ghostbusters(my all time favorite movie) happen to come up in my suggestions. I watched it while in recovery and smiled the entire time. Those four months I didn't know what was going to happen with my job, my settlement, and my work ability in general. Things turned out OK but I was so depressed and anxious. Cassie gave me something to look forward to. She is an absolute angel with one of the biggest hearts I have ever seen. For that I'll never be able to repay her. Anyone who sends her hate mail has no soul.

William Bryan

I can’t fathom someone writing Cassie hate mail.

Steven Ashford

It's Butkus, not Butkis.

Art of Free Speech

William Bryan, she said she got hate mail when Apollo Creed was reading his hate mail. Right around 29:48 of her video or 27:28 of the movie timer.

Art of Free Speech

So, to everyone who commented, first, thank you. I appreciate the conversation and feedback. I pretty much knew all of that, but it's still baffling. I know there are those who are so miserable they can't stand it when other people make even more people happy. It still breaks my heart. The Cassie she shares with us is characteristic of all that's good in the world (I mean, I'm sure she has her crappy days, but we don't see those).

Art of Free Speech

Rocky III still has some vestiges of storytelling integrity. There's definitely an arc and the characters do grow. IV is a shitshow, but she'll probably watch it cuz it's her husband's fave, which is fair enough.

Brian Harris

Literally my thought exactly. So weird. She is probably the least offensive person I've ever seen on online.

Brian Harris

There are elements of Rocky III that I think you'll really love, but it may also at times be the toughest watch of any of these movies so far for you. I would stop after III, probably, unless you're intent on watching all of them, including the Creed movies. I have no idea how someone could ever send you hate mail, the concept is just bizarre to me.

Brian Harris

I propose a rewatch with Carly!!!! =)

bossminion-freizeit

Reaction so good, had to watch it a second time. But you missed the dedication to Jane Oliver, his personal manager.

Allen Bond

Stallone's unique drawl came as a result of complications during his birth: his obstetrician committed a medical error that left the side of his face paralyzed. He uses vocal exercises to make himself understood, but the silver lining would be that his voice is globally recognizable.

Alex Villarreal

The commenters telling you to skip Rocky V and Rocky Balboa are just flat-out wrong. Rocky V is a little weaker, true, but not nearly as bad as some make it out to be. And Rocky Balboa is the best Rocky movie since the first one.

The One True Chris

Yeah, even if you wrote the greatest book in the world, you'd still get one guy saying "I ordered a pan set and this showed up. Terrible service. 0 out of 5 stars!"

Zensonar

Great reaction! So fantastic. Like some of the other commenters I recommend watching Rocky III and IV, but skip right to the Creed series after that. Michael Jordan as Adonis Creed added new life to this amazing franchise.

Ali Williams

Just a joy watching this with you, Cassie! It's not "Butt-Kiss". It's a real name, albeit uncommmon. The most well-known Butkis is Dick Butkis, who was an 8-time all-pro linebacker for the Chicago Bears in the 1960s and 70s. He had a reputation as a very tough guy and a very hard hitter, so at the time it would be natural to name a dog Butlkis if it had the same traits, and someone who Rocky would look up to.

Alan Kobb

"Who the hell sends hate mail to someone like Cassie?" Tightly wound balls of anger and negativity whose lives haven't panned out the way they'd hoped. They see someone without an ounce of meanness or cynicism in them and get the urge to make them feel miserable, just like they do. That's my take anyway.

Jay

Art, when did she say she gets hate mail?

William Bryan

I think I mention it for every Rocky watch but how about the film score by Bill Conti? Just tremendous! Really loved Redemption and that ambulance ride at the start.

Mark M

Who the hell sends hate mail to someone like Cassie? Are they trying to get attention because their mother didn't love them, their dad beat them, or maybe their uncle gave them a little to much love...? Cassie is literally the sweetest person I've ever come in contact with. She helped in a very dark time in my life and for that I'll think about her in 40 years from now.

William Bryan

@Jay: I have a friend who makes podcasts and youtube-videos. He said that ”there will always be people who love what you do and others who hate it. You can’t try to please the haters. The only thing that works is delete, block and move on. Everything else is a waste of time.”

Björn Von Knorring

I am almost positive #3 is not considered the second best. I'd guess it ranks below 1, 2, and 4 for sure, possibly even under Balboa.

My_Cousin_Mose

I think you've got the jist of it Jay. Cassie keeps things so positive, friendly, and wholesome. I think the only people sending her hate mail are the guys who send hate mail to a great many people and for mostly petty reasons.

My_Cousin_Mose

I laugh when I see comments on YT suggesting her reactions are fake. If she was that good at faking it, she'd be one of the most in demand actors in the world.

Jay

Once you're getting as many hits/views as she is, it doesn't even matter what kind of content you're producing, negative responses are sadly inevitable. There's a lot of weirdos online who actually get off on abusing people. It's bizarre and infuriating in equal measure. There was one comment under The Shining edit on YT that honestly made me sick, I hope she never read it.

Jay

Some people will literally lose their shit for any little thing. I can imagine some of them will get all bent out of shape because she hasn't gotten to some movie they requested. Those people are why we can't have nice things.

JayF

Cassie, what an amazing reaction. You pick up on so much the first time watching a movie. Your Patreons ask”why do we love watching Cassie’s reactions so much?” Because you feel everything to the core, with your whole being. And you are so genuine and real. Be sure to take time for yourself and take a break if you need to. Your emotional health is priority! Do you debrief with your husband after watching these movies? Again great reaction, looked like you were going to come through the screen there at the end!

Steven Ashford

When I heard you say "I get hate mail, too", Cassie, it broke my heart. I can't imagine what problem anyone could possibly have with you. Sending you hate mail is like sending hate mail to Tweetybird or Lisa Simpson. Okay, so not "butt kiss"... Butkus. It's a real name, I promise. It just translates poorly. It's worth noting, NYC in the mid 70s had record high unemployment. There simply were no jobs. When you said "He's doing it for pride. Rocky's doing it for love. That has to mean something," it brought to mind Sade's Love is Stronger Than Pride. You really should watch Rocky III and IV... after that it's not worth it. All in all, this reaction is emblematic of why we all love to watch movies with you, and why we gladly pay for the pleasure. Thanks again, Cassie, for a great reaction.

Art of Free Speech

Best reaction to Rocky!!! You almost made me cry haha... Btw, a rabbit punch is a punch to the nape. For example, when they are hugging (in a clinch) one can punch the nape from behind, and it is illegal ... just fyi since you are becoming a boxing expert =P

bossminion-freizeit

Awesome reaction! Like Rocky….Cassie’s the best!

Krusty “Topher”

3 is worth it for Eye of the Tiger Alone, but the fight scenes deteriorate badly, you don’t even have to be a boxing expert to see the ridiculous nature of the fight scenes in 3 and 4. Great soundtracks though, and entertaining films as part of the story nonetheless.

Mark Cannon

I feel emotionally spent after watching this reaction video. Thanks Cass.

Janne

Retired CW4 here... Nice to see an Army brother in the comments.

Art of Free Speech

You and me both. I can't for the life of me imagine who could possibly send Cassie hate mail. What a miserable life they must have!?!

Art of Free Speech

I think it has to do a lot with her hitting the sequels to franchises she's not invested in. I've noticed this about her, she gets really invested in characters and so when she sees progress like in this movie it impacts her more than if she just sees a fresh story with new characters she hasn't yet. In other words she's just like any other fan.

KTVindicare

I get people wanting Cassie to finish the series, butvI also her not wanting to. She wanted a love story and found it in 1 and 2. The rest of the series is less a love story, the rest is more about retribution and redemption. If Cassie is not wanting watch Creed, then I am fine with her not continuing the stories. If she does watch Creed, then I feel 3 and 4 are mandatory. I don't want to have Cassie subject herself to the emotional trauma that lies in wait with 3 and 4.

Brian McGovern

Not sure what you mean here. I am sure you would prefer her to finish the series as would I. I love the movies, but look at how she was put through the wringer with those boxing scenes. If she intends to watch Creed, then I think 3 and 4 are required viewing. If not, then let her have this ending. Let us not ask her to subject herself to the additional emotional stress that comes with the rest of the series.

Brian McGovern

I am sure Cassie will watch 3 and 4. She wants to hear Eye of the Tiger and number 4 is her husband's favorite. Will be great no matter what.

Doug R

Thank you, agreed

Andrew Hogan

Incorrect, sorry, move along.

Andrew Hogan

Radwar, I think you and I are the only ones who are going to push her to watch them all. I understand that it doesn’t get much better than the first 2 and it would have made for a perfect ending of sorts, but that’s not life, we can’t just end it on the high note, you have to endure the valleys with the peaks.

Andrew Hogan

Lol! Perfect comment.

Jon Johns

This whole skip the others is nonsense, and if you don’t like them all, you just aren’t paying enough attention.

Andrew Hogan

Yes, Cassie's reaction game has turned up to eleven recently.

Jon Johns

Those were brutal fights

Andrew Hogan

Lol! "Stop biting his ear!"

Jon Johns

Yeah, no.

Andrew Hogan

She's done Grand Budapest, and loved it.

Jon Johns

I knew there’d be a lot of comments, so hopefully you get to mine. You must continue the entire franchise. Everyone has their favorites along the way. Some say the original, others love the second, some the third and so on, but I believe the entire series is amazing. You go on the journey with Rocky and they lol have their moments, and you’ll decide which ones are yours, but you have to watch them, the ups and downs, just like life. He could have ended it here, and it would have been fine like you said, but just like a real athlete, there’s a fire that burns to keep fighting to see how far you can go, to what your limits are. I’m really happy you ‘get’ these movies, it’s what a lot of men strive to be, we might have our missteps along the way, but we try and we love want our version of an Adrian. Plus, you have to continue for Eye Of The Tiger. My only request would be having your sister, or husband (even if it’s off camera) join you. A quick fe boxing points, in the first they were inhaling was a type of nasal spray, to open the airways, being able to breathe and oxygen flow are huge parts of stamina and being able to last long in a fight. Rocky should keep his hands up to block, but it wouldn’t make for as impressive a part of his heart and ability to keep getting hit, which some boxers are able to do, however if anyone tried to fight like Rocky, they wouldn’t last very long. The heavyweight division has the largest differential in size compared to other classes. Most other are within 10-15 pounds, heavyweight can be around 30-40 lbs. height can also be a factor. All of these are usually huge advantages to the bigger boxer, but not always. That’s why it’s called the sweet science, you can beat a bigger guy, you just need to know how. Apollo was a much better fighter than Rocky, which is why it’s so hard for him to let go of the first fight. He just doesn’t have the same desire as Rocky as you correctly pointed out. Apollo was for pride and Rocky was heart. If Apollo had gotten up with Rocky, he would have won the fight, since he won the most rounds, somRocky had to knock him out / down. As for men crying, yes, we cry in the first one, and it’s the only time we’ll admit to it, along with Saving Private Ryan and Field Of Dreams, those are the only acceptable times. Can’t wait to see Rocky 3.

Andrew Hogan

Well that was more cathartic than I was expecting. Brilliant as ever! If you wanna stop then that's really ok. However life is about taking the hits and traversing the whole story. The rough with the smooth. So I'd be pleased if you continued on this journey, with us in your corner, backing you all the way! CASSIE!!! CASSIE!!! CASSIE!!! 😁 But I'll back you either way.

Daryl

One of the best reactions yet. In a nutshell, watching you react to a movie we love, is like watching a person open a present or cooking a great meal and seeing someone really enjoy it. Yes, very self serving for us. Kind of like sharing a special secret with someone special. I personally cannot say enough for your genuine reactions. You have that grace that us Jaded individuals have lost.

Matt Mabry

Love your comment to the girls about it being a story for you (i.e., love story). You're gonna hate and love rocky 3.... but you gotta do it.

Jimmie V

the guy singing by the fire in this and the first movie is frank stallone slys brother.

rubberkidney

I also wanted to add that his dog is named after Dick Butkus who was a pretty great NFL player for the Chicago Bears.

Damon Corrigan

I am in the minority - 3 is not my favorite, but 4 for me is right up there with 2. But if you were born in the 80s or after, Rocky 4 loses a LOT of it's flavor because of the state of the world back then and the fear and/or hatred that existed. No spoilers, just know that there is a lot of stuff in Rocky 4 that just doesn't apply to today and the movie depends a lot on that stuff.

Damon Corrigan

Hahaha for sure. Was one of the first movies that totally broke me. I would love to see her watch it. It is a great film indeed

Dirk Rheeder

Cassie will bankrupt the entire tissue industry if she reacts to the Champ. Great film.

ArsTropica

Also Rambo 1st blood!!!

Scott

Oh yes like old mate said part 3 is a must see!

Scott

Now that we are a Sylvester fan, next mission is to dip your toe into the Rambo series, starting with First Blood, and ignoring the rest :) Also, to stick with the sports trip, I can highly recommend The Champ ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0078950/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 ) and also The Wrestler (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1125849/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk)

Dirk Rheeder

WTF I had 3 gym memberships by the end of the movie

Scott

Another quality reaction! Watching this with Cassie has actually changed my general opinion about the Rocky series. But as she pointed out at the end, Rocky is now at the top of his game and it's hard to imagine where future films can go without first having to tear him down. Still, I think that professional success only plays a small part in the overall story. There is so little actual fighting in the second film, that I now see the franchise as more of a character drama with a love story as its foundation. If the plot of the first movie was about self-worth, the second is about values. When Rocky declines Gazzo's offer of his old job back, we can see that he's changed his opinion of himself and is trying to evolve as a person. Even after he wins the title, I think there is still a lot of room for his character to grow (outside the ring).

ArsTropica

This is reaction gold right here. Everything you want in a reaction.

Mike LL

SPOILER ALERT: you can watch this reaction with only the blurred out video and no sound and this is still Cassie's best reaction to date.

Doug R

There are Pros and Cons to continuing Rocky. I personally don’t think it will get any better than this. I am curious however to what Cassie’s husband thinks since he knows her best. Either way, this is the best reaction to Rocky II ever recorded - I think Sly should see it himself and be proud of his work.

Ike

Best reaction ever, Cassie!

Allen Bond

I would still strongly suggest watching part 3. After that it's really not worth it as it goes a bit off the rails, but 3 is still considered by most to be the 2nd best movie to the original. Different motivation, same amount of heart.

Brian Jones

YO, ADRIAN!!!

Alex Villarreal

Great reaction Cassie! Rocky 1 & 2 are my favorites, especially 2 because it touches on the damage the sport can do as well as his struggles as a working, family man just trying to survive. I know it isn't a popular opinion but I don't like boxing because of the damage it does. But, putting that aside the story with him and Adrian is just great. Awesome reaction, and I look forward to the next!

MattN

Loved your reaction, it was very emotional, and I appreciate you watching this for us even when you're under the weather.. I can understand you wanting to end the series here on a high note, but for our sake I really hope you watch the next two movies!

Eric Denney

I almost forgot about that movie, but you're right - it's excellent. I'm a boxing fan and was thrilled when they made a movie about Mickey Ward. Another amazing performance by Christian Bale.

Johnny

A real Rocky just happened recently , Andy Ruiz a pudgy candy eating fighter beat the Heavy weight champ Anthony Joshua and shocked the world in 2019

Mike Lipke

Mike, that's absolutely not a spoiler. It actually happened, for one, and I didn't give any details on his career other than the fact that he made a huge comeback. If you think that somehow spoils that movie then i don't know what to tell you, because there's a LOT i left out.

Joe Berger

spoiler much , she does plan to watch cinderella man , buy why now that you spoiled the whole movie

Mike Lipke

Thank you for this. Why do I find your movie reactions so damn entertaining and fun?! SO CRAZY WEIRD!! Such a genuine and moving reaction to Rocky II. The ROCKY movies are some of my favorite movies. Please keep watching. Stay genuine. Stay awesome!

Philip Alan

Rocky and Rocky II are by far my favorite reactions of yours! We can tell how much you are invested in Rocky and Adrian's story. When we were voting for the sports bracket I think everybody knew you would love them. And sure enough you did because they are love stories first and boxing movies second. I think I speak for a lot of patrons on here when I say we want more Rocky reactions! I don't think any of them reach the heights of 1 and 2 but you're now a Rocky fan and owe it to yourself to continue Rocky's journey.

inpham0us

I have to disagree wholeheartedly. Part of what makes Creed so good is dependent on the story of Rocky 3 and 4. If she's to continue on with any of the more modern Rocky movies, she really has to watch all of them in sequence. If she decides to skip any of the movies in between, she might as well should just stop with Rocky II - which she shouldn't, IMHO.

inpham0us

I agree. Completely agree.

Ike

This is the greatest movie reaction I've ever seen. Amazing.

James MacDonald

I loved this! Thank you SO MUCH for reacting to this movie! I've been looking forward to it ever since you watched the first Rocky. I think the first two movies in the series wrap everything up nicely and it could well have ended there. In that sense you could say that there was no need to continue with a third Rocky, but then again, resolving one set of conflicts can end up introducing a whole new set of conflicts, and I guess that's an idea that Rocky III deals with and while I don't feel like it even comes close to being as good as the first two I think it's still worth watching. I hope you'll stay with the Rocky series at least that far.

Jamie van Brewen

You want over the top Radwar? You want over the top? Go watch Saw, Hostel, Strangeland, and I Spit On Your Grave. THAT'S over the friggin top.

William Bryan

If you loved this then I think you would equally love Cinderella Man, starring Russell Crowe and directed by Ron Howard. It's a true story where Crowe plays boxer James Braddock, a heavyweight during the 1920s and 30s. The movie takes place during the Great Depression, when his career took a negative turn until he makes a huge comeback and eventually gets a world title shot. He's literally fighting for his family to have food and electricity, and is a huge underdog the entire time. It's even more motivating than Rocky in many ways because he's fighting for his family's survival. Plus it actually happened. "The Fighter" starring Mark Whalberg as Mickey Ward was also very good. Christian Bale should've won an oscar in that.

Joe Berger

Great reaction Cassie! Please , please, please continue with the next movies . You will fall in love with Rocky even more! Thank you so much!!

Ed Garland

I love the fact Cassie gave a film like Rocky a shot. For me that is what film is about. You never know. Cassie: Like men cry at this part right? No, I just got something in my eye... yah both eyes... Great reaction BTW.

Bret

Why does this sport exist? As long as there are bad men who know how to fight there will always need to be good guys who know how to fight. I'm a very nice guy, and usually I can talk to someone down, defuse, but it helps to be able to fight if that doesn't work. And yeah, boxed a little in the Army, body shots hurt like a mofo, that liver shot will drop you, it's like an involuntary reflex. Had the fun of boxing another soldier who already had an amateur record before enlisting lol, held my own though, gotta say.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Cassie, I totally understand how you feel about this being the perfect ending and not wanting to continue especially seeing how worked up you get during the actual boxing. But this series still has so much life and fire to it that I know you will love. Take a good long break from it but please return to it, Rocky 4 is my favorite of the bunch but I love them all. This IS your best reaction that you've had yet. Hands down. This one has knocked out the others even the recent Rogue One which was incredible.

KTVindicare

You need to watch ALL of the Rocky films, followed by the Creed follow-ups. You will not be disappointed.

Chris Reise

I love this entire series and I want Cassie to see it, but I'll tell you why we should STOP here. It's kind of like giving your wife or significant other a gift or compliment that caused such an unexpected, positive, heart-aching emotional response... and then you kept talking and ruined it. LOL (I've done that). After watching Cassie's strong reaction to this film and her review - and - unless someone truly believes it gets better than this reaction... I'd say we're done here. Just my opinion.

Ike

Cassie you HAVE to watch the next 4, Rocky Balboa included. For warning though, if you don't like Apollo, you're going to hate Clubber Lang. Apollo does redeem himself in the third one, if that helps your motivation to watch.

William Bryan

I rarely watch actual boxing but if Cassie was commentating on the next big heavyweight fight, I'd definitely tune in :)

Jay

I recently got my chance to run up those steps. It's apparently one of the most tourist things you can do in Philly but I didn't care. I grew up on these movies I had to do it.

KTVindicare

Wow, watching this review just brought up all the emotions I had as a kid when I first saw this movie - my throat hurts. Plus, Cassie picked up on themes I didn’t catch right away - like Rocky is fighting for love and Creed is fighting pride. And I’m glad Cassie likes Mick - I imitate him a lot in life with a handful of grapes :) Continue or Stop, I’m fine with either - but ‘Rocky Balboa’ is one of the best in the series and ironically that’s the last one (shrug).

Ike

It makes no sense considering that this is one of her best reactions because she's so involved with the story and characters.

Radwar

I had the biggest crush on Talia Shire when I was a kid lol, especially this movie and the Godfather 1 and 2. BTW she's Francis Ford Coppola's younger sister, and Jason Schwartzman's mother. Speaking of Jason Schwartzman, would love if we got to see some reactions to Wes Anderson's movies, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums (my personal favorite), Grand Budapest, Darjeeling, even Bottle Rocket was great in it's way, but so many great movies in his filmography, I think Cassie would really like them.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

I can't believe I'm seeing people tell you it would be okay to stop with just one and two. This whole freaking series of movies is great. Sure five isn't as great but man there are so many ups and downs in this saga. I think it really is the greatest saga in movies. Plus you have to see why so many people love Rocky 4. Greatest soundtrack I've ever heard in my life. And the training montages. My God the training montages!!! I absolutely loved your reaction to this movie. I had to wipe my eyes several times watching this. You really do get into these characters. Please watch the rest of the series.

Michael Lynch

Sylvester Stallone is exaggerating when he plays Rocky but he does have a slight speech impediment. During his birth, forceps (basically tongs lol) had to be used and as sometimes happens one of the forceps was clamped across half of baby Sly's upper lip and caused permanent nerve damage, that's why he has that signature upper lip curl on one side. Damn great reaction, rewatching this movie, so full of heart, with someone so full of heart watching it for the first time, again reminds me why it's so awesome! I say keep going, the franchise gets a little hammy in the mids (my opinion, my favorite was 4 when I was a kid but that's because it was the first I saw), but the new movies are awesome.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

One thing never heard during a boxing match: “Stop hurting his head!” - PiB. Seriously though, great fun watching along, always entertaining and a nice to enjoy a favorite movie that I haven’t seen or thought of seeing again in decades. Glad you like the story even though the boxing can be tough to watch. Looking forward to III.

ron young

Rocky's dog is named Butkus played by Sylvester Stallone's dog, Butkus. :)

Chris Reise

Rocky 3 is really good , but after that it turns into a cartoon character .

Mike Lipke

you're bobbing and weaving like a boxer C.

Mike Lipke

If you want to see the real ROCKY "Rocky Marciano" the greatest boxer that ever lived, search on youtube, all his fights are there. His life was the bases of these films

William

your reaction when she says WIN , is the same reaction of the movie theater when this movie came out ... cheers

Mike Lipke

For me, Rocky I & II are two part of one amazing movie.

Radwar

There's nothing to understand, the reason she had such a great reaction is because she's so invested in the characters and the movies. Stopping now wouldn't make any sense.

Radwar

That was the undisputed champion of reactions!!!! You are the champion. Thank you for your amazing content. Question? Is this a chick flick? 🤔

Doug R

This is in one of the best reactions she's had which is why she should continue with the series.

Radwar

If she stopped now would be complete BS considering how much she loves these movies. Loving these movies and characters is the main reason why she's so involved in Rocky being beaten up. She had less problems with people being beheaded and maimed in Braveheart.

Radwar

Always been my fav of the franchise…👏🏻

Doubting Thomas

Oh come on Cassie, I love Rocky I & II the most but stopping now (which is arguably your best reaction to any movies) would be an insult to a lot of your supporters. I'm sorry to use this analogy but "man up" and watch the rest of the series, including the Creed movies, please. The fact that you had less problems watching people get beheaded and maimed in Braveheart is proof of this.

Radwar

The last lines of this movie are powerful. Rocky I and II are masterpieces. Which is why I support the idea of you just leaving it here. There's some good stuff in the next few films but I don't think you will love them the way you loved the 1st 2, not even close. Now I watched the whole series on repeat as a teenager, and I think "Rocky Balboa" actually did a really good job of capturing the essence of Rocky and was a near perfect end to the series. But given your reaction, I think you should just let the story end here.

My_Cousin_Mose

Whew! What a movie and what a reaction! I can understand you wanting to end at this movie, it's a great ending! The next couple films are over the top but entertaining, you'll be missing out on Rocky's journey and relationships with Adrian, Paulie, Mick, and so many others. It's what makes the character so beloved and endearing these past 40 plus years!

Nismo

Nah, she's good.

aarswft

Radwar

As I recall it, and until now I haven't seen these movies in a very long time, the stories don't get any easier to watch. But these are all about love and family and friendship.. Thank you for another awesome reaction!! It's funny but I catch myself replying to your commentary in these quite frequently lol

Andrew Rose

I loved this reaction so much! Reminds me of myself, only not brave enough to film it. I reacted very similarly to you with both of these movies, and very much NOT the same to the next few. The original, sweet-hearted, genuine underdog vibe is lost, not to mention they were just straight up not good movies, in my opinion. But more importantly, if you get a gut feeling like that about watching any more of them, chances are you're probably right.

CJGardner

If you do decide to stop now. It may be worth skipping ahead to the Creed series since Rocky is no longer the focus but still present in the story.

aarswft

“There’s one thing I want you to do for me.” What’s that? “Come here.” What? “Win.” :)

Ike

"With the exception of Rocky Balboa, all the fight scenes in the Rocky series are over the top.", You have a knack at bringing out the obvious. "Over the top" in an American movie, that's something you rarely see.

Radwar

I hope you do watch the entire series straight through to Creed II. Your genuine reactions always make me enjoy my favorite movies even more. Truly amazing! Bravo on this one.

Jeremy Vickers

The patrons have done their work well when Cassie realizes that Rocky I and II are love stories.

David

God these movies always make me want to get back in the ring. Lol Cassie if you can't bring yourself to follow this franchise anymore, can I suggest another movie called The Fighter (2010) starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale? It also won at the Oscars and is actually based on a true story about Mickey Ward. Mickey Ward and his legendary adversary Arturo Gatti are the 2 guys who first made me want to fight.

Aaron

Cassie: “I get hate mail too” I just wanna talk to him

Nick Deuchars

Cassie, I searched for the pink cardigan, the actual costume piece sold at auction to a private collector in 2013. There was a lot of info about the sweater, though, so I looked for the brand and 'model' of it, and you can buy them in a variety of colors, but not pink! (Also, they retail new for around $600) anyway, when Rocky goes to the gym, and asks Mickey for his locker, Mickey is wearing a red almost identical sweater! My theory is that he had a few of these sweaters, probably one was white, and he washed them all together and stained the white one pink! Don Draper has the exact white version in Mad Men, so they were fashionable in the 50's & 60's, but these were not fashionable in the late 1970's so he probably bought them at Goodwill for cheap. And that's my martin cardigan 5 button sweater deep dive.

Jon Johns

Rocky's Dog is named Butkus, after the legendary football coach Dick Butkus. And a Rabbit Punch, is a punch to the back of the neck.

aarswft

+100 Cassie chasing chickens video.

Jon Johns

@Radwar: Its very hard to predict what triggers different people or what different people finds to gory or too violent. I can’t stand some movies that my friends thinks are hilariously funny.

Björn Von Knorring

Am I the only one who wants a Patreon exclusive video of Cassie and chickens in the backyard?

JediLounger

Such a fantastic reaction!

David Crabtree

Loving this reaction. The reason Rocky and Sylvester mumble a bit is that he has nerve damage in his face from forceps used during his birth. The lip droop became so iconic that his mother started doing it in the 80s and his brother Frank (who is one of the singers in the film) stated to do it too during his short lived acting career.

djKENTO

How could she have so much trouble watching these scenes when she had little trouble watching the brutal fights in Braveheart which were a lot more often than the number of times you actually see Rocky fight. Rocky's fights are a heck of a lot more tame graphically in comparison.

Radwar

My left pupil is actually permanently dilated and oblong shaped from a punch I took in my left eye when I was 22. Lost the fight and never got back in the ring.

William Bryan

With the exception of Rocky Balboa, all the fight scenes in the Rocky series are over the top. Every fight would have been stopped very early. Take it from someone who was in the ring several times when he was younger. No one could take that many punches.

William Bryan

Good on you for not wanting to continue the stories. It really does not get any easier moving forward. You could probably jump straight to Balboa which essentially tells the final part of Rocky's story. At least you would not have to endure the other stories that come with the other movies.

Brian McGovern

Considering she has trouble watching the boxing scenes I’m not so sure.

Björn Von Knorring

Ha! Rocky!! It's true that there are a lot of preconceived ideas about this saga! Boxing is only in the background in all the "Rocky" or "Creed" movies. It is above all the story of life, to know how to take the punches and to get up again. All the writing talent of Mr. Stallone. I'm waiting for the next. Thanks Cassie.

Grégory Gautier

The others are good as well, granted Rocky I & II are my favorites too but she'll continue viewing them especially considering Rocky IV is her husbands favorite of the series.

Radwar

You can stop here if you want. You can watch Rocky III if you want the background of "Eye of the tiger". It wont hurt your opinion on the first two movies albeit it is a bit different. But I take no responsibility if you watch any movies beyond that though:-)

Björn Von Knorring

Rocky 2 was a huge movie for me as a kid. Loved it

nick bell

I was gonna go see Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon City tonight. Now you've thrown a monkeywrench into it lol
