Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - Full Reaction

Hey guys! Here's my full reaction to the final prequel! I don't want to spoil my thoughts about it on this post, so you'll just have to watch to see what I think! I am planning on watching the recent sequels even though they are highly regarded as not-so-great by a lot of Star Wars fans. But before I watch those, I'm going to watch Rogue One and Solo. Anyway, hope you enjoy the reaction!! Have a fantastic week!

PS. You can hear the movie pretty loud in the background, I'm uploading another version that fixes that as we speak, but you can watch this for now!

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - Full Reaction

Comments

Thanks Cassie! I was never a big fan of the prequels mainly due to dialog, some story choices, and overuse of CGI but rewatching with you has been a real treat. I loved how much you got the tragedy of Anakin's story. Looking forward to watching the sequel trilogy with ya!

Marcus Hoelscher

Nah, they're fundamentally solid stories tragically bogged down by a couple of truly baffling narrative and world-building choices. I can understand anyone who can't look past those, but there's way more good in them than bad.

Clara V.

Congratulations on doing the impossible. I hated Ep 1 & 2 but you made them tolerable.

Cereal And Grape Juice

Hello Cassie, even if I'm a two months behind, I can only appreciate your decision to watch episode VII-IX, because they are simply very good movies, better than 90% of the movies that were released in the particular year. 😊 First a short explanation, I'm as much a Middle-earth nerd (and the discussions about 'The Hobbit' are quite similar 🥱) as I'm a Star Wars nerd. For the first time I saw the original Star Wars (today Episode IV) in 1983 in cinema just before The Empire Strikes Back was released. Back then I was 8 years old, actually too young, but my brother and my cousin (both 4 years older) took me with them and since then I love this world, these movies and the characters. And this fascination never ended. So I can get that there are people who don't like the sequels because there was another story implemented before Disney took over. But I for myself decided that I can accept another plot very well. There is nobody who says this story is right, that story is wrong ... it's just the decision to accept it or not which everybody for themselves has to chose. But most of the people who were disappointed afterwards had too high expectations. They expected Star Wars 2.0 ... the fascination of the original trilogy with new tricks, technology etc. and all of that - just better. But that isn't how it works, such a fascination is only once possible with the same storyline and stuff and afterwards it only can be on the same high niveau, but it isn't new anymore. So I decided for myself to accept the story as it developed now and not to complain about it. The same with the movie 'Solo: A Star Wars Story'. The people expected a young Harrison Ford clone to play Han Solo, but this clone doesn't exist. So there is another actor and Alden Ehrenreich plays it really good, very Solo-esque. 😎 The story is also okay and fits, so no reason to complain for me. 😉 The biggest problem of the movie was that a lot of people were disappointed about episode VIII and their own expectations, so Solo had a smaller audience. But it is a very good movie. So I would recommend to watch this movie too. 😄

Chris Lüders

It's in Watch-Along format. Play this, then start playing your own copy of the movie at the right time and enjoy.

Richard Ryan

cause copyright?

Andrew Peterson

Am I missing something? Why is the movie blurred out halfway through the opening scroll?

Jon Brown

I've said this before but it bears repeating. I enjoy watching you guys sit down and discover the joy of these movies for the first time. It never gets old. 😄

Kristopher Wood

Palpatine: “Leave him, or we'll never make it.” Anakin: "His fate will be the same as ours!" Well, yeah...they all died on a Death Star!

Sean Novack

You killed me with the ”Nothing. He is just like a girl”-comment. I loved it😂

Björn Von Knorring

it is on the schedule!!!

Ann Peterson

please watch this, it's how the real fight went down in episode 4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=to2SMng4u1k

I don't hate the sequels, but just feel meh about them. Part 7 is ok. Part 8 is the first Star Wars movie that I only watched once in the theater (starting with Episode 1) and didn't end up buying when it was released. Just fell completely flat with me. I have many issues with it. The worst in the whole series IMO. Part 9 is meh. Honestly don't remember much from it. But I remember not disliking it as much as The Last Jedi.

Verteron

Second, I forgot what it really was so I will say this, the clones weren't evil from the start, at one point Palpatine started implanting some clones with a chip that would make them obey to a certain order (the famous order 66) but the clone themselves didn't know about it. So from their point of view they just did what they always did, follow the order of the leader of the Republic (whatever the name you give it and the type of regime it really is).

Charles LELEU

Two things I want to adress : First Anakin only saw Windu with a lightsaber on the verge of killing Palpatine. He didn't see the chancelor turning evil and killing Jedi, so he saw what Palpatine wanted him to see. It seemed like a coup from the Jedi, and once Windu was dead he knew he couldn't go back anyway so the only hope he had left to save Padme was through following Palpatine.

Charles LELEU

Loved The Last Jedi as well, too bad Rise of Skywalker ruined it : (

Gornay

The prequels are just terrible movies that are fun to look at.

nick bell

No, the hate for the sequels is not universal. I think Part 7 is ok. I think Part 8 is the second best Star Wars film. I think Part 9 is the worst Star Wars film, the only SW chapter i have not, and never will, rewatch.

Opti_Frog

I think the divisiveness of the sequels themselves is what keeps many reactors from the movies. The hate for those movies has little to nothing to do with the prequels.

My_Cousin_Mose

I think the divisiveness in the Star Wars fandom about the prequels is the reason some reactors have chosen not to react to the sequel trilogy. What Cassie must think of all this if she has read all these comments!

Mike LL

I agree with you 100%. I think it is important to watch 6 last because it is the END of the story, and knowing who that new force ghost actor is at the end of Return of the Jedi after watching 1,2 and 3 brings so much emotional context to Vaders return to the light. And you are right that the viewing has to start with 4 because that is the best movie to introduce someone to Star Wars, much better than episode 1, because that is not the exciting movie 4 has always been. I'm beginning to think it is a generational thing, to so many people the prequel trilogy is "their" Star Wars, the Star Wars they knew at that young age that I was when I saw the OT in theaters so long ago. Also I'm beginning to think that the downer end to Sith appeals to that young generation as the triumphant end of Return appealed to my generation.

MikeLL

Yeah it’s definitely my favourite as well after the original trilogy

Dean Holt

Can’t wait to see what you think of the other movies. I’d definitely recommend The Mandalorian after you’ve seen them, even if you think the sequel trilogy is a bit of a mess due to two directors wanting to go in completely different directions lol.

Dean Holt

Cassie: I’m gonna watch Rogue One. Everyone else: *stares intently as THAT Vader scene starts...*

James Little

you need to watch rogue one first

Mike Lipke

The sequels is a great example of a producer: (cough, cough) Kathy Kennedy being in the Director’s chair and calling it Star Wars is female, which has always been Star Wars is the Force 🤓

FranciscoGios

I think my take on the Sequel Trilogy is that it has higher highs and lower lows than the Prequels. The main sin of the Prequels is that they are strangely boring - unless it's a completely CGI sequence the direction is usually flat and unambitious and the acting is mostly actors trying to find their marks so the VFX guys can paint around them. But there's in the Prequels as godawful as RISE OF SKYWALKER.

Patrick Flanagan

Second pretty much all of this. I've always thought of the prequels as a fairly good political thriller cosplaying as a science fantasy movie and the costume is flashy, overly busy, and not well tailored.

Colin Gutierrez

Such a reasonable comment! As a Sequel lover (though they have lots of flaws, as do the Originals and Prequels), your comment gives me hope that not all of the fanbase is toxic.

Raj K. Dixit

Ignore the Sequel haters. The Sequels are better than the Prequels in terms of characters, in my opinion - way better acting. That said, the Prequels aren't bad, and they do have more inventive visuals. Rogue One is amazing, and Solo is entertaining. Looking forward to more Star Wars reactions!

Raj K. Dixit

Been several years since watching this and I think my initial opinion hasn't changed. Anakin is the fatal flaw in this trilogy. He's never really heroic, just competent, but Lucas seems to think we're meant to find him heroic anyway. The love story is created out of thin air and forced on two characters (and actors) who have zero chemistry. At least this movie has Obi-Wan and Anakin slightly friendlier to one another. I enjoy watching the machinations play out and I actually think Lucas and his collaborators had some great and consistent world-building taking place here. Throughout the Prequels we see a Jedi Order which has grown very comfortable with its access to the halls of power, and which has also become mostly blind to the future, and whose leaders never put 2 and 2 together and realize that these 2 facts might be connected. And Palpatine is probably the very best character of the trilogy. The Clone Wars proceed along a deliberate path meant to corrupt and destroy the Jedi. The Clone Troopers were created to lull the Jedi into a false sense of security - maybe they can't see the future, but they can still sense emotions, and any attempt by the Clones to betray them should be sensed immediately. But the Clones have no axe to grind with the Jedi. They don't hate them at all and so there's no dark emotions for the Jedi to pick up on. The Clones aren't good or evil, they're simply obedient, and if told to gun down their generals they'll do it without hesitation or regret. Watching Palpatine spin his webs is probably the best part of this movie. General Grievous is also a great new villain in the few scenes we get with him. This is probably the "best" of the Prequels, it's definitely the best on a technical level, but it's so joyless and rote that watching it feels like an obligation.

Patrick Flanagan

There is nothing at all "woke" about the Sequels, this franchise has always had diverse casting. The Sequels have plenty of actual flaws and faults, no need to make up new ones.

Patrick Flanagan

Senator Jar Jar helped destroy the Republic in the last movie, so Lucas gave him the rest of the franchise off.

Patrick Flanagan

Eh, people love Qui-Gon Jinn because he was Liam Neeson, full stop. His character didn't consist of much more than a stern look and a beard. He completely overlooked Anakin's potential for danger and in fact doomed the Republic by insisting on bringing him to Coruscant and forcing the Jedi to train him.

Patrick Flanagan

I have to disagree, AMERICAN GRAFFITI has great dialogue, and Lucas also co-wrote APOCALYPSE NOW which is well-written as well. But for STAR WARS he's writing to the format, trying (still) to recreate the long-lost matinee serials we've all heard about when reading STAR WARS lore but have never actually seen because they're ancient. The corniness is part of the genre for him.

Patrick Flanagan

Do you think you'll get around to the Mandalorian eventually?

LMrcs

After watching this series again, I think I've strengthened my belief that watching these in a flashback order really would enhance the viewing experience. I really do think that watching them 4,5,1,2,3,6 is the best way to watch these movies. It preserves most of the reveals and in ways just makes the moves hit harder. 4 is the better option to introduce the franchise. 5 keeps the Vader reveal . Then by jumping back to the prequels you get to see the backstory and then jumping back to 6 you get to end the saga on a happy note instead of the depressing episode 3. This enhances Vader's redemption as you get to see him make the right choice this time to save Luke from the Emperor as he should have done with Mace Windu. It makes Yoda's death in 6 mean more because you have seen him in 3 more movies and have seen his journey as well. Seeing Anakin as a force ghost at the end will make more sense and so on. The only thing it would change is the Leia reveal, but this isn't really that big of a deal, as it gets revealed in almost a better way in 3. It basically just moves the reveal from after the Jabba's palace stuff in 6 to right before it. The Jabba's palace stuff wouldn't be effected from knowing Luke and Leia are twins. Plus you get a minor bonus of having more backstory on Boba Fett. Just my thoughts but that was long way of saying great reaction, can't wait for more movies in this franchise.

Verteron

I cant WAIT till you watch Rogue One, if disney did anything right with the new movies it was DEF Rogue One its SOOO GOOD

Shawn Walsh

The most heart warming part of this love story is where Harrison Ford cheated on his wife.

My_Cousin_Mose

Lol you guys are the best! Every time I log in to comment on something I find that someone not only beat me to it, but knows 1000x more than I do. It warms my heart to see so many cool sci-fi fans out there!

Fireteam Joker

Fans never really settle on what "balance" means for the Force. I believe the most recent update was "destruction of the sith" but not the Dark Side, as that is just as much a part of the force as the Light. How cool would it be if we finally got to see a true Grey jedi balanced by both the Dark and the Light. I believe the general understanding now is that Plagueis and Palpatine were responsible for the creating Anakin, but not directly. He was willed into existence by the Force as a response to their growing power.

aarswft

Just want to add two things here: 1. If you think about it Anakin did bring balance to the force in a way. There remained 2 Sith and 2 Jedi (we know of). As Yoda mentioned they could have misinterpreted the prophecy altogether and balance might not mean the destruction of the Sith. 2. Palpatine's story about Darth Plagueis, especially the part that he was "so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life" makes you wonder if it had to do something with Anakin's conception. Although it is never said in the movie, it is heavily implied that Sidious himself was the apprentice that killed him thus he posses this power and he might have used the Force himself to create the Chosen One of the Jedi. By the way it was fun to see that Cassie didn't realize Palpatine is Sidious until the middle of Episode 3 and he was the main villain and architect of everything that conspired.

Gábor Árki

Technically Palpatine wasn't lying, the Jedi did attempt to overthrow the republic, albeit for the right reasons. he rarely tells outright lies. He twists the truth until it serves his goals.

Wreckingballryan

Brian you must be joking, with Mary Sue Rey female Jesus re-incarnate? Production wise they're great, but story wise and what they do to beloved characters, it's just a mess, the story ends for me after chapter 6, I'll watch the edited versions with Cassie cause I like her and value her opinions but will never watch these films again, everyone is intitled to his opinions of course...

Marc Levesque

Not everyone hates the sequels. I think they're far superior to the prequels, and I think that The Last Jedi is the second-best film in the entire series. The Rise of Skywalker I can probably do without though.

Brian Harris

The sequels pretty much destroys everything established in the Skywalkers chapters with wokeness and bad writing, Disney should never be forgiven for that mess, no tissues required but I suggest a large bottle of moutwash, the sequels will leave you with a very bad taste in your mouth...

Marc Levesque

I love how invested you are in the story considering we all know Anakin was going to disappoint and betray everyone who cared about him. And I don't really consider evil winning because at the end of it all in episode 6, a Skywalker did bring balance to the force...it just wasn't Anakin. I know you want to watch episode 7-9 but I would not get my hopes up. I like to pretend those didn't exist. lol

inpham0us

Great Reaction, I always spend the last half of this movie crying non-stop. I think you can see why they released them in this weird order, and why watching them this way is the best way. The knowing what happens really makes everything leading up to it much more meaningful and heart wrenching. And at the same time, like you said, even though "evil wins" in this, you always have in the back of your mind, the hope of how you know the story will end. I think this is why I will always prefer the Prequels the most. They are not perfect, but they are, in my opinion, BY FAR the most emotionally impactful. And as an added bonus, now the next time you watch the original 3, everything will have whole new meaning to you, like watching it anew Great prediction of the self-fulfilling prophecy as well.

Hannah Mather

Midichlorians: microscopic life-forms living inside cells of all living things. The Force fabricated the universe, flowing through every living creature. An energy that touched & influence all living things, it’s currents-both light & dark, shaping the patterns of existence.

FranciscoGios

btw, has anyone seen that new GQ video where a psychiatrist breaks down Anakin's actions in this movie as being typical to adolescent psychotic behavior? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKAWtNW-Xfk

Alex Villarreal

It's basically accepted that George Lucas can't write dialogue or direct actors.

James MacDonald

I've always felt the original trilogy was directed by a young, idealistic '70s-era filmmaker who thought replacing old, corrupt institutions was the only way to make a better future. The prequels were directed by an older filmmaker (and parent) who is aware history is cyclical and institutions, old or new, will always repeat the same mistakes. If there is any hope, it's with future generations. And he's also a Dad that maybe watches too much History Channel.

Alex Villarreal

I'd say nothing is a more apt description for this trilogy than: The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. Because in truth this is Anakin's story. This too is my favorite star wars film. Just as an fyi too, the Clone aren't technically evil. Sidious commissioned the clones and they were "programmed" to follow orders. The Clone Wars gives you specifics but that series makes it more heartbreaking for Order 66 since you see the relationships these clones had with their Jedi Generals.

Stephen O

Can't wait for you to watch the final 3 episodes! I love them more than the prequels, but honestly, I love all of Star Wars.

Dan Hensley

The prequels get a lot of hate, but man this was a hell of a way to cap off the trilogy. There's a line towards the end where Anakin was supposed to ask Obi-Wan for help, but they removed it and just left the "I hate you". Like some others have said, Rogue One is a must and even though we know the outcome having seen A New Hope, its still one of the best things to come out of the Disney acquisition next to The Mandalorian (which you should totally watch btw)

Jason Mangen

R2D2 the only character to witness all that happened uninterrupted throughout the first six episodes. His memory was never wiped. If you watch the Clone War series you gain much needed knowledge to better understand how The Emperor worked on Annakin over the years between movie 2 and 3. Star Wars Rebels tv show happens between movie 3 and 4. It even has Annakin’s Padawan Ashoka confronting Her old master who now is Vader. If you watch the final 3 movies then all I can say is “MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!”.

Jason Mangen

Please just go straight to number 7. After watching this one, you need to smile. Please

Matt Mabry

I can obviously only speak for myself. I am one of those people who actually really enjoys the sequels. Not necessarily as a whole but certainly for what they are. I think, like all three trilogies they are most definitely demonstratively flawed. For me the balance is about the same as the prequels. So I'm pleased that you are continuing on to watching them as well. Looking forward to Rogue One too. I think that is probably a close tie for my favourite alongside The Empire Strikes Back. Only the Sith deal in absolutes. There are always those looking to offer some balance. I just choose not to be consumed by the negatives which could cloud my ability to enjoy light as well as the dark.

Daryl

I'm glad you enjoy them. Regardless of how people feel about them, at the end of the day they are still part of the story and it's worth it for any fan to at least experience it once.

aarswft

Daryl

Time for Rogue One!

Raymond Goff V

I have to say, by some magic, Cassie's reactions sometimes make me like movies even more. Its so strange.

Obie Brown

Ooh I had never heard that one. I like that.

aarswft

I like the theory that Emperor Palpatine siphoned Padme's life force and gave it to Anakin so he could survive his wounds.

Patrick Toscano

The main reason why this is better than the other two is that there is less Jar-Jar. Kidding! Not... Anyway, this is where I hop off the Lucas Train. I suddenly developed this burning irrational desire to keep my childhood memories in tact.

ArsTropica

'I coulda written this' Truer words never spoken lol

Luetin

Now that you have arrived at this point, Cassie, I would like to recommend 2 YouTube fan made videos that you might appreciate: Scene 38 Reimagined, and Obi-Wan has PTSD. IMHO, both were extremely well done, but to understand both of them fully, you have to have seen all 6 of these movies, and I think this community might like seeing your reactions to them :)

Sarah

You are in this trust circle, but we do not grant you the rank of master

Chase

Just curious as to why you feel this way? I think he is a good actor. Just watch him in the quiet moments, very good. It is the dialog and directing that let these films down, not really the actors. Hell, he made Samuel seem wooden for Pete's sake. :) (PS Not saying you are right or wrong, just wondering)

Doug Fisher

Nice trilogy, but for me Hayden Christensen is a mistake to have taken him for this role. The love story between Anakin and Padme is laughable (it's poorly written.)

Grégory Gautier

Ah, I think a put a small spoiler in my previous comment. Didn't want to trigger anyone, but my impression is that the clones aged out of service by the time of the OT and it was just regular, trained humans as the stormtroopers.

MikeLL

Great, super reaction. All we could have wished for. You've heard the stories of Darth Sidious, the Emporer and Darth Plaguies the Wise, and now you know the full story of Darth Vader, the Matchstick.

MikeLL

oh, Miss Cassie. Yes, yes, please watch the others. There is real life tragedy in the next few as well. Hans, Leia, Luke, and yes, we have a new Padawan. All will be revealed.... stay tuned. For the real life part, there is a show documenting Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford's real life relationship. They loved each other for awhile. I know how you enjoy a love story. Well, watch the Carrie Fisher docemetary please ma'am.

Matt Mabry

You handled Order 66 so well, very impressed!!!

Dustin Nelson

The Force Awakens absolutely destroys and crushes the happy ending of Return of the Jedi in the most heartless ways, that's mostly the issue I have with the sequels. It WILL wreck episode 6's catharsis if she sees them

Dustin Nelson

I'm curious, are some people suggesting Cassie shouldn't watch the episodes 7-9 because they think she'll like them? And they don't want her to like them? Or do they think she won't like them, which... would reinforce their opinion? This is all very confusing. If you watched the new "Disney" Star Wars movies, and ended up hating them, would you have not watched them, if some rando stranger told you not to? Did you watch the first of the last trilogy, and then choose to not watch the other two, because it was so bad? I know I must be trying to apply logic to something that is emotional, but I never really 'got' the argument. Do you wish someone had told you not to watch those latest films? Anyway... I think Cassie will enjoy all these films, all the TV shows, and animated series, and all the new stuff that will come out in the next decade with her own children, and re live all this again thru their eyes.

Jon Johns

This was a GREAT REACTION! I watched along, whilst I should have been working. So now I'm massively behind. Can't wait for you to see the rest of the saga and especially Rogue One, and the rest of the Saga. Not only because as I mentioned to you that I pop up in them as an extra. But because you share the same approach to watching them that I did. Which is despite all the bad blood that surrounds them, you enjoy them for what they are, and appreciate them in their own way!

Biggman83

What about "Solo"? You didn't like it? I thought it was pretty good, though it wasn't without faults. It just came out at a bad time when Star Wars fans were force-choking "The Last Jedi". Out of spite, a lot of fans were dismissing Solo (some without even seeing it).

Prof. Writhms

Creating the characters and storyline were always George's strong points. Writing dialogue... Well, that's another story.

Prof. Writhms

This was a really good reaction and I enjoyed watching this again too. Well, got Rouge One to go before the dumpster fire begins! And I am honestly looking frward to the dumpster fire. Over all, this was fun!

Mr. Killeverything

Does it help me sync? Not one bit, but its funny!

My_Cousin_Mose

“Lost the will to live” yeah because let’s not use the billions of dollars of medical equipment around us 😂

FlyByNight

Ever since since the release of the prequel trilogy, there has been non-stop bitter debate over the content. I won't be drawn toward the dark side this time. I will just say, GREAT REACTION!

Prof. Writhms

"She's lost the will to live." For many people, the dumbest line in the series. Like a new mother wouldn't find the will to live to raise her children. For what it's worth, there's a fan theory that the Emperor was using the dark side of the force to channel the life energy out of Padme, and into Anakin. My two cents.

Zachary Carter

This one is one of my favs but I love all of the Star Wars movies. Obviously I have criticisms here and there for almost all of them but the target audience for these films are kids really (excluding The Last Jedi probably lol). I really do enjoy every single one of these films.

Chip MC

Jedi was perfect right up until the Ewoks appeared on screen. All of us knew they were supposed to be Wookies, and Lucas gives some lame excuse about how "Wookies shouldn't be shown as technologically advanced" when he already has one the co-pilot of a starship! Lucas made his money on the merchandise and he knew that the little teddy bears would sell.

Sean Novack

For modesty's sake, I'm glad you didn't get so mad at him that you burnt the shirt before the end of the movie. :)

Sabrecho

About 1/3rd of the way in, I started keeping a tally of times I said, "I thought this was your first time watching?" Hehehe. I got to 6 times.

Sabrecho

No... different levels. No one "hated' Empire! They had trouble with Vader being Luke's father, but that was about it (and also understandable). The OT and PT were not hated... there were aspects of the films that were disliked or "hated" but that is not the same as hating an entire film and trilogy. People "hated" that they didn't have a choice between the special editions and the theatrical releases. Most people who fell in love with SW preferred the theatrical release because that is what they fell in love with. They didn't like the additions (in our views) because they diminished the movies, not enhanced them. The funny thing is, the original FX stand up better than the SE FX. People "hate" Disney SW because they are poorly written garbage movies and they destroy what came before them.

Doug Fisher

100% "The shroud of the Dark Side has fallen!"

Doug Fisher

I strongly dislike sequel trilogy but let me tell you straight; GO AHEAD AND WATCH IT! Do it! Watch and make your own mind. Don't let others opinions influence how you feel! Take it from a person who doesn't like sequel; watch them, and make your own mind! And if you love them, we will all be happy to hear how you feel!

Krzysztof Rozycki

that corny old george lucas dialog is all part of the charm. also you know that love DOES fix him :)

rubberkidney

Aw but that's the beauty of a great saga, it's a roller coaster, ups and downs. That's why I loved Empire and why I loved Jedi in turn. And just think, "Empire" had to be one of the most epic cliff hangers in all of movie history in 1980, and then Jedi comes out 3 years later and in my opinion does not disappoint. My first Star Wars memory is my dad taking my cousin and me to see Return of the Jedi when I was 6 and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen in my very short life. Still holds up though...

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Rouge One is my favorite SW since Empire Strikes Back. Definitely one of the strongest ones that Disney had put out.

Matt

I think that Rogue One is one of the best movies in the series. and is perfect to watch next. Solo just didn't cut it,... Harrison Ford IS Han Solo and can't be duplicated. The last trilogy had their moments,.... but it also was doomed from the changing Directors and change of story line in the middle,... it was salvaged decently regardless,... I think that you have to look at all of this for what it is,.... Science Fiction,.... and Disney just ruins most of what they touch now-a-days.

ENC SW DV Rush

So, againe if you like STWS check ouut Fanboys. Its super funnyt

David RedEagle

Did George Lucas mean to make Maul Dooku and Grievious each a small reflection of Vader or are fanboys giving him too much credit?

Sean Stuart

I enjoyed the light saber battles, action, and the imagery in Episode 3, but Anakin's turn to the dark side is just forced and too abrupt

ENC SW DV Rush

have you watched the Mandalorian, or Rogue One, Or Rebels, or read any of the legends books. i enjoyed the ot from watching them off Tv with my dad. But it was the books, toys and talking with friends that transported me to another galaxy. like talking on the bus that darth vader fell into lava and that's why he was more machine.

Sean Stuart

Ahh! don't get angry at Anakin! Anger leads to Hate! Hate leads to Suffering... T.T Jk Jk anyways, I'm glad you like this! Please note that Disney acquired the Starwars Franchise after the prequels. That being said, I personally think Rogue One is the best movie Disney has made in the Starwars Universe. Can't wait to see your reaction! :D

Logan Sandoval

Yes, the clones were all sleeper agents. They were genuinely good guys, but as soon as Palpatine gave the order to "execute Order 66" the clones programming changed. They will NOW become the stormtroopers that we see in Episodes IV through VI. I'm hoping you are going to continue this journey in a galaxy far, far away with the two stand-alone films, ("Solo" and "Rogue One"). Solo takes place approximately 10-15 years after Episode III, and Rogue One takes place LITERALLY days before Episode IV.

Chris Reise

Where to begin. Well, first of all I guess a thank you for another great reaction. To tell the truth, I do not even think of them as reactions anymore, I just think of them as watching some of my favourite movies with a friend. Of course if we were actually watching a movie together and you started talking at all, I would throw popcorn at you. ;) Something that I can now talk about since it will not spoil anything. Many times Anakin was said, by many people, to be whining and arrogant. When you watch the PT again, keep in mind that Anakin had a dark lord of the Sith whispering in his ear and using force manipulation on him since he was 10, which is more than half his life. He had thoughts of grandeur placed there constantly. So I would say he actually did a great job of resisting that, so that he was only rebelling against authority, whining, and acting arrogant for a small portion of what he could have done. As for Padme's death... the mind and heart are powerful devices. So after the physically draining affect of being force choked and childbirth... it isn't hard for me to buy that losing Anakin ripped out her heart and soul, which left her vulnerable at that weakened state. (Though I admit they could have handled it better) I could go on for hours talking about Star Wars... but I will end with this. I know you are watching all of the Disney SW. I am not trying to change your mind. However, you said that you are watching because we did. Just FYI... I have not, nor will I ever watch Episode IX! I know what happened from watching people I trust review it but I will not taint my SW any more. I tried so hard to like it. Walking out of Episode VII, I spent months trying to convince myself it was good... or at least OK. I do not own any of the Disney SW and I never will, and that is coming from someone who watched the OT in the theatre when they were first released, someone who lived and breathed SW. I finally had to accept that Star Wars ended after Episode VI for me, and I can live with that. I wish you all the best with those movies and I do hope you like them (for your sake). I want to support you but sorry, I won't be watching those reactions. :( Not trying to be mean or drag everyone down... just being honest.

People hate the sequel trilogy (7,8,9) but people hated Empire Strikes Back when it came out. They hated Return of the Jedi because it’s too cute. They hated the special editions, they hated the prequels… They hate the sequels now too… I’ve literally heard Star Wars fans complain about Star Wars my entire life. Just part of the franchise.

Now that you’ve finished episode 3, here’s some info about Qui-Gon Jinn that I promised I would give you :) His views are more closely aligned with the original principles of the Jedi Order. He saw the Jedi were getting involved in things they had no business getting involved in. Like war and politics. This is why he was constantly arguing with the council. But through his unique outlook on the Force he was able to discover the secret to immortality. Sadly he was killed before completing that training. However, he completed enough of it to where he was able to connect with Yoda after his death and help both Yoda and Obi-Wan complete this training. This is why they can appear as force ghost and Qui-Gon cannot. So what if he never died? Well it’s believed that Anakin would never have fallen to the dark side. It’s also speculated that Palpatine only ever feared one Jedi, and it wasn’t Yoda. It was Qui-Gon Jinn. This is because Qui-Gon would have recognized what was going on in an instant. His teachings on living in the moment would have certainly prevented Anakin from looking into the future and seeing his wife’s death. Qui-Gon might have even encouraged Anakin’s relationship with Padme. Even Dooku, his old master, would not have fallen to the dark side (he did so because he blamed the Jedi for Qui-Gon’s death). Qui-Gon’s death was the first domino to fall in the rise of Vader. Palpatine won the day Qui-Gon Jinn was killed. This is why I say Qui-Gon was probably one of the best characters ever written into the Star Wars universe.

When Ian McDiarmid saw himself in the full emperor makeup for the first time in twenty years, he acted like he was reunited with a dear old friend. Yes, the lines were cheesy at times. Lucas wrote all the prequels, and while he can come up with fantastic stories and characters, he’s not that good with dialogue. Empire and Jedi both had great dialogue, but the actual scripts were written by other people.

Texas Anla'Shok

At the very least the pilot (which was released in theaters).

Texas Anla'Shok

As Dooku would say, "I've been looking forward to this!" Or as Anakin would say, "This is where the fun begins!" Or as Chewbacca would say... *growls* I just finished watching it! Thank you so much for letting us experience this movie in a new way with you!! This was so good and a great end to my day!

Great react! I definitely agree that this was definitely my favorite out of the prequels(and not just because I got to see Chewie :D ). I disagree with the sequels being bad. I enjoyed them! Like the prequels, there were some things I definitely rolled my eyes at, and some I like way more than others but all in all they were fun enough :D I do agree with some one the other commenters, that you should watch Solo and Rogue one(at least Rouge One). They are also fun, and do a great job at filling out the universe. Thanks and I look forward to the next one!

MattN

Welll... part organic alien being anyway.

I think you'll really enjoy The Mandalorian when the time comes. Also, while it might be too ambitious to watch the ENTIRE Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series (unless you find out you're a huge fan), I recommend you watch several key episodes - especially the ones with Anakin and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano. The Clone Wars really helps flesh out Anakin's character and show that he was a good person (albeit highly flawed) at one point in his life. In addition, the series helps show the clones as people rather than the killers in the film. Hope you decide to react to some of the series!

Michael Jung

Before you watch the sequels watch Solo and Rogue One which happen between Episodes 3 & 4. Rogue One ends literally minutes before the start of Episode 4

Trembling Colors

This has been the first time seeing the sequels in along time, I forgot how bad the acting was lol. one thing that drove me nuts is that padme did not look like she was carrying twins. One of my neighbors growing up was pregnant with twins and by the time they were due she could hardly walk never mind run. George Lucas got too much leeway with the sequels and it shows.

Alex Gorell

“Master Skywalker, there are too many of them. What are we going to do?”

Hi Cassie LOVED your reaction as always... I would like to help with a few of the lore things that may have either escaped you or been confusing to you: 1. Grievous, in the film IS in fact a cyborg (think about it as though he is a reverse terminator: metal EXO-skeleton and organic parts inside, brain, heart, lungs. As Grievous is kidnapping Palpatine, Windu force crushes his lungs which is why he is having trouble breathing 2. I REALLY dislike the duel at the beginning that made it to the silver screen. In the book, it tells how Anakin and Obi-Wan actually had an interesting and effective strategy to deal with Dooku's skill with a lightsaber: (I am not sure how much you know about the lightsaber forms but let me give you a brief rundown of the most critical aspects to THIS part of the story There are 7 forms of lightsaber combat and each one is tailored to accomplish one thing or a few things well. Dooku uses Form II (Makashi) which is an ancient form that relies on finesse and grace as opposed to raw power. It is intended to face off against other lightsaber wielders Kenobi uses Form III (Soresu) which is primarily concerned with defense, allowing the user to protect themselves and wait for an opponent to provide an opening for a counter attack Anakin uses Form V (Djem So) which is a very aggressive offense oriented form, relying more on the power of the user to overwhelm an opponent and beat them down. In the duel against Dooku, Kenobi and Skywalker initially (in the novel) take up stances that indicate other forms (Kenobi displaying Form I (Shii Cho) and Skywalker showing Form IV (Ataru). This is to try and get Dooku to react to the movements of THOSE forms to throw him off guard, and it works. Through the duel, Kenobi and Skywalker are hammering dooku and breaking down his defenses and while Kenobi IS temporarily immobilized, Anakin is able to batter down the last of Dooku's defenses and take his hands off (which by the way, renders dooku unable to use force lightning to attack Anakin). None of that really comes across on screen and it is a disappointment to me. 3. It is theorized that Sidious was draining Padme's lifeforce from afar in order to save Vader from dying (this serves the duel purpose of Vader living and getting even more angry at her death and thus, more enthralled to the dark side).

The story ofAnakin Skywalker is a Shakespeare play what he thought would saved Padme is what kill her. It what Emperor planed since the beginning

William Fortner

you’re so right about Padme, i feel like seeing the babies would have given her the will! She was bad A and didn’t need Anakin for a purpose in life! they should have made her die of a medical reason at least

Cassie

Im watching this for the first time in years. I guess I forgot that Star Wars and Star Trek take place in the same universe. I was surprised when Padme showed up on screen for the first time and I saw she was a Romulan.

Variable38

Good lord there are folks that love the prequels but hate the sequels?!?! I’d think they’d love anything after watching the prequels!!😀

Krusty “Topher”

Just don't read it

Patrick Flanagan

18:42 That is general greivous, he is part robot part human.

Mike Vasconcelos

"People hated the prequels and now love them." "Appreciating" the prequels is not loving them. Just as I do appreciate the ad hominem, name-calling "crazed fanatics". The dropping box office and merchandise sales speak for themselves.

Michael Hawk

8:29 - They cant sense him because the darkside of the force fogs the senses of the jedi. They can see clearly if they are strong enough wielders of the force, but most of the time its very difficult to see past a dark evil presence. I love this movie, it portrays so well the agony anekin went through. Super stoked for the next movies! Despite their reviews, they are really enjoyable!!!

PLEASE read this novelization by Matthew Stover!!! Here is how the novel treats that ending scene: This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, forever: The first dawn of light in your universe brings pain. The light burns you. It will always burn you. Part of you will always lie upon black glass sand beside a lake of fire while flames chew at your flesh. You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don’t even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream forever. "Lord Vader? Lord Vader, can you hear me?" And you can’t, not in the way you once did. Sensors in the shell that prisons your head trickle meaning directly into your brain. You open your scorched-pale eyes; optical sensors integrate light and shadow into a hideous simulacrum of the world around you. Or perhaps the simulacrum is perfect, and it is the world that is hideous. "Padme? Are you here? Are you all right?" you try to say, but another voice speaks for you, out from the vocabulator that serves you for burned-away lips and tongue and throat. "Padme? Are you here? Are you all right?" "I’m very sorry, Lord Vader. I’m afraid she died. It seems in your anger, you killed her." This burns hotter than the lava had. No…no, it is not possible! You love her. You have always loved her. You could never will her death. Never. But you remember… You remember all of it. You remember the dragon that you brought Vader forth from your heart to slay. You remember the cold venom in Vader’s blood. You remember the furnace of Vader’s fury, and the black hatred of seizing her throat to silence her lying mouth… And there is one blazing moment in which you finally understand that there was no dragon. That there was no Vader. That there was only you. Only Anakin Skywalker. That it was all you. Is you. Only you. You did it. You killed her. You killed her because, finally, when you could have saved her, when you could have gone away with her, when you could have been thinking about her, you were thinking about yourself… It is in this blazing moment that you finally understand the trap of the dark side, the final cruelty of the Sith — Because now yourself is all you will ever have. And you rage and scream and reach through the Force to crush the shadow who has destroyed you, but you are so far less now than what you were. You are more than half machine, you are like a painter gone blind, a composer gone deaf, you can remember where the power was but the power you can touch is only a memory, and so with all your world-destroying fury it is only droids around you that implode, and equipment, and the table on which you were strapped shatters, and in the end, you cannot touch the shadow. In the end, you do not even want to. In the end, the shadow is all you have left. Because the shadow understands you, the shadow forgives you, the shadow gathers you unto itself- And within your furnace heart, you burn in your own flame. This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker. Forever…

I get frustrated by the whole thing. Not because I love the Disney sequels but I know, if she happens to like them she's going to feel like she has to apologize for it. "I'm sorry that I liked this movie 'everyone' says I should hate. I'm sorry I can just watch a movie and enjoy it for what it is."

Variable38

I'm not trying to stir up any controversy but regarding what you said about Star Wars fans not liking the sequel trilogy. I feel like a lot of the Star Wars fans who don't like them went in with certain expectations and those expectations were fulfilled. ALL of the SW movies have flaws and most of them have the same flaws. I for one enjoyed the ST but out of fear of being attacked I usually just keep my mouth shut.

matthew berry

It's pretty much the only good thing they've done. Solo has it's moments too... but also squanders some amazing opportunities. The rest is the perfect example of what you get when no one is in charge or has a vision of what they want.

Robert Haynes

Why can't the Jedi sense that the Chancellor is evil. Because he's powerful enough with the dark side to hide from those same senses. He's even able to manipulate them to some degree.

KTVindicare

I know this is most people's favorite of the prequels, and, like, I get it. It drops most of the awkward dialogue, the awkward comic relief, the impenetrable plotting - and of course it has all the iconic moments this trilogy exists for in the first place. But I just despise this movie so much. At every turn it seems to make the wrong choice. From marooning Obi-Wan in a subplot, to former badass Padme dying of no "will," to turning one of the great mythic screen villains of all time into Adam f#@ing Lanza... I just, I can't. No movie has or ever will again make me as physically angry as this one does. I am glad you're getting into the world though and I'm excited to see you continue. I for one greatly enjoy the latter day films (well maybe not the last one) and I'm glad to see Rogue One and Solo included. May the force be with you!

Robin T

The new star wars are demonic abominations, I'd rather watch the Holiday Special 3 times in a row than see any of them ever again. Rogue One is the worst big budget movie I've EVER seen by far. The Disney Star Wars are such incredibly bad movies words fail, the writers and directors should be in Jail or worse. Solo was acceptable though, and the TV series are great.

Dustin Nelson

Best Star Wars movie to date

William Bryan

Just in time for my Birthday tomorrow!

Dustin Nelson

The new Star Wars movies are not that bad….I think switching directors in the middle of the trilogy hurt the trilogy. I believe if JJ Abrams directed all 3 they would be received better. Also some “fans” just hate to hate so I’m glad you will watch them so you can have your own opinion. SN: Rogue One is my favorite Star Wars movie

David Martin

Great timing! I'm just about to make popcorn!!

😉👍🏼 for making us watch it to find out how u felt Wrote this in your last movie post. In case you didn't read it: Hey Cassie, I have a suggestion. When you drop a new reaction you usually give your thoughts and opinions on the film in the post. I feel maybe this takes away some of the mystery and anticipation in watching the movie with you. I know we can just choose not to read what you write, but sometimes you put anouncements or info regarding the channel amongst your thoughts and to stay informed we have to atleast skim through what you wrote. I feel if the only way we can find out what you thought is to watch the movie with you, it would generate more excitement and agency to watch the reaction right away. It makes watching the movie with you more fun and could potentially spark more discussion with you in the comments. So im wondering if you would consider maybe not giving us all your thoughts in the posts, atleast not initially. If you do want to keep your thoughts in the posts, maybe you could update the post at a later time or just simply label a section/paragraph as 'thoughts', so those of us who dont want to know before watching, we know to avoid that part. But tbh if its their, sometimes we cant help ourselves and read it anyway😋. This is in no way a demand by any means, Just a thought. Thanks for the content

Sahitya

Glad you're doing Rogue One before the sequels. Rogue One is the best thing Disney has done with Star Wars.

Chris W

I can guess what your reactions are but Don't worry I am keeping it to myself
