Remembrance Day/Veterans Day Poll

I want to watch a movie around November 11th to honor our veterans. You know I have loved and deeply appreciated all the war/miniseries I have watched about war. They have brought emotion out of me more than anything else and I look forward to learning and watching more.

These were all suggestions pulled from comments or messages on here that I hope are appropriate for Veterans Day

You can vote for more than once if you would like.

Poll will end on 10/26 at midnight MDT

Thanks so much :)

god, I love how angry people can get here.

No, but you can copy and paste it when a piece of garbage no one should be encouraged to see (as Cassie was) wins.

Halloween. Truly stupid, pointless garbage with bad acting. Very bad acting and painfully boring to see through even a few minutes. A study in Film Depreciation. It's not that I don't "like" it. I'm not in eighth grade. I find new things all the time I thought would not be my cup of tea, and I've enjoyed them.

"Sighs" nobody appreciates world war 1...They shall not grow old is in my opinion the single greatest war related production that has ever been released. Not World War 1 production. The greatest war related production ever made period. Lip reading the soldiers, colorised footage, just simply the most in depth documentary I have ever seen about the most tragic war in history (Remember, World War 1 is what led to every single war of the 20th century).

Can I copy and paste this quote in the next poll if the movie I don’t like wins?

Mark M

I agree with you disagreeing. Dunkirk was a great movie. Tarantino said it was Nolan's best movie.

JayF

If you’re referring to Dunkirk then I respectfully disagree.

Wes Stewart

What movie are you even talking about?

Dylan

We Were Soldiers was a great war movie if you like war movies. I doubt Cassie would enjoy watching Vietnamese and American soldiers get blown to bits (especially the Vietnamese) for the last two thirds of the film. Not sure why it is being pushed so strongly.

Dylan

I pity Cassie for having to watch this. The acting and dialogue is atrociously stupid, what a worthless piece of junk. Just lost 8 minutes and 29 seconds of my life; I would rather self-harm. Fans of Cassie, there is no reason on earth for anyone to watch this movie unless they are studying stupid movies. And that would be pointless. "Famous" and even "popular" does not mean worth watching. Please, fans, help warn Cassie away from junk like this. It is sensational to watch her react to great movies, but this? No. How very inconsiderate to vote garbage onto her watch list. She deserves better. Shame on you all who vote for this.

Dunkirk was an good movie I wonder if has so many votes is because it is a recent release

Jason Mangen

Seeing it many times and my claustrophobia always gets me

We were soldiers. Colonel Hal Moore’s speech before deploying to Vietnam was one of kind. The movie was based on a book written by a reporter who was there in Vietnam. Hal Moore’s and SGM Plumley’s professionalism was well betrayed as well as their care for their men. If every unit was led by leaders of this caliber things would have been much different during the Vietnam war.

Jason Mangen

I gotta agree. It's right up there with Saving Private Ryan for realism. I heard it was another one of those movies where veterans who were there said, "That's exactly what it was like."

Deer hunter!

I was reading the comments and agree with Das Boot whole heartedly. Watch the full length version. Another good movie about German soldiers is Stalingrad. Definitely not a feel good movie. Perfect ending though. All Quiet on the Western Front. Definitely the 1930's version like Andrew Ramos said also not a feel good movie. (Read the book as well) it is a pre code movies so it has a much harder edge then later movies of that era.

Jeffry L Manion

I don't know if it will win but Seven Samaria is hands down one of the greatest movies ever made. It's really long (3+ hours) and in Japanese so you have to read the subtitles (unless you understand Japanese). Extremely influential film.

Jeffry L Manion

its a horrible and great documentary all at the same time

Daniel Fowler

They Shall Not Grow Old. Why? Because it’s footage of the ACTUAL MEN who fought and bled and killed and died for us all.

James Little

Cassie is a big Robin Williams fan ,so I voted Good Morning Vietnam.

I dont hate spiders, so was ok for me. Today horrors are much more scary. But I understand, if you dont like spiders, Arachnophobia is scary…

David Hron

Ugh. Arachnophobia was VERY scary (but good).

Jason Brugger

if I may I would like to write something else. I had a weekend when I first saw enough movies I finally saw the Parasite (great Korean comedy) - The Trip (Norway movie 2021) thats was awesome and brutal.. I like a lot.. - Arachnophobia - good but not scary - Army of the dead (2021) - watchable but not much good. Still best zombie movie Train to Busan. and few more average..

David Hron

Even if it doesn’t win you gotta watch we were soldiers

Someone said they thought Platoon wasn't as hard hitting as Full Metal Jacket... Agree to disagree, FMJ was directed by Stanley MF Kubrick, a badass filmmaker, based on a short story written by a Marine Vietnam veteran, it's classic and one of my all-time favorite movies, but Platoon was written and directed by Oliver Stone, who was literally there himself... He volunteered for combat and served 13 months in country with the 25th Infantry. I would love to see "Born On The Fourth Of July" on a war poll too, but it's a true story, Tom Cruise's best performance in my opinion, but maybe too controversial?!?
