Ok reposting I have more to say ;) Runners Up Bracket Update #1

Hey guys! Don't forget to vote on the round 1 matchups on YT. Voting ends in ~4 hours and the quarterfinals for each category begin!

VOTE NOW!

The pic is what's coming this week on Patreon! (and "Halloween" will be up late tonight).

I will also be posting a poll to help me pick which movie to watch for Remembrance Day/Veteran's Day tonight that I would love your feedback on. I have had so many suggestions for so many war movies and I want to watch all of them, help me pick!

Information about the special "event"/drawing (do you know what I am referencing?) I'm planning on going live on discord, picking the 2 winners and I'm so excited to know what movie you would have me watch!

Come follow me on Instagram if you don't already @popcorninbed, I would love to connect with you in that way as well as it's easier to show more snippets of everyday stuff, if you are interested in that. Tonight I taste tested popcorn m&m's!

Hope you all have a great week gearing up for Halloween!

Much love,

Cassie

She is planning to randomly pick a movie suggestion from someone on discord.

Come to think of it, why hasn't any of the most popular reactors on YouTube not reacted to this Mother of all Blockbusters?

Mike LL

What "special event/drawing" is she referring to?

Contact vs the Fifth Element? Thats a cruel choice to force me to make! Very different films that are both really amazing.

Robert Haynes

Spot on.

Jay

Yeah, wait, how has GWTW not come up on any list yet?? Still in my all-time top 5!

Man, what's it going to take for Roman Holiday to win one of these polls! It could not be more up her (and Carly's) alley.

Robert Y

Excellent analysis. They didn't call it King Cotton Diplomacy for nothing.

William Bryan

Yeah, mainly because the 'yeoman famers' realized that, at that time, slavery was required to run their culture. Even though most Southerners didn't own slaves, the backbone of the economy was cotton, rice, indigo, all things that were labor intensive at the time. Slavery might still have died out on it's own, well before war erupted, if Whitney hadn't invented that 'gin, thus making cotton even more profitable.

Dunkirk is very good! However it’s wise to watch Darkest Hour before Dunkirk because it helps to explain everything that leads up to Dunkirk and puts great context to everything. If you watch Dunkirk by itself without knowing that particular history…it kind of just throws you in it and could be confusing.

Krusty “Topher”

I don't like to call it the Civil War because the Southern States didn't want to control the government. They simply wanted to form their own nation much like the original colonies did from the British crown. Some would argue the Southern States had more of a right to secede from the US than the thirteen colonies did from Britain.

William Bryan

After Lincoln's defeat of Douglas did South Carolina act in haste and attack Sumter too early? Probably. Lincoln's calling of 75k troops to put down the "rebellion" only made things worse though. Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee joined the secession movement after Lincoln's actions

William Bryan

It was and it wasn't. Tough issue. My 40 page thesis was about whether or not the yeoman farmers agreed with movement of secession. Seems they did. I'd have to do more research and dig out my paper(it's been 14 years).

William Bryan

So it actually was about slavery. I have never heard it called that before but I googled it. I read that it was a way for Southerners to deflect responsibility for the war.

Mark M

Now you're catching on Mark. It's not called the War of Northern Agression for nothing. I've been trying to find the source for the quote but my advisor and college professor claims Lincoln said "if I could send all the slaves back to Africa to avoid a war I would." "5 Things You May Not Know About Abraham Lincoln, Slavery and Emancipation | HISTORY" https://www.history.com/.amp/news/5-things-you-may-not-know-about-lincoln-slavery-and-emancipation

How did Stargate not make it out of the first round. That movie was all but made for Cassie and is a perfect choice. I can't believe she hasn't seen this classic. Are people choosing films Cassie would like or films that they liked. Because some of these choices do not make sense.
