Runners Up Bracket
Added 2021-10-21 07:58:51 +0000 UTCHey guys! I took all of the runners up for the brackets we've done here on Patreon and added them to a massive march madness style tournament. I'm going to open this up to YouTube as well and I'll be watching all the movies in the final 4. Hopefully it'll be fun for everyone! I love watching these tournaments play out and reading all of your opinions. I also seeded each movie by the final standings of the past brackets. Thanks for all your support! <3

OUCH - This is what I get for not checking in regularly. I'm sure I could have pushed King Kong over the top! :-) I know some dismiss it out of hand, but after seeing Cassie's reaction to a certain chase scene in another movie, I think she would absolutely love it! Well, maybe third time will be the charm…someday. And speaking of Peter Jackson -- anybody anxiously awaiting his Beatles "Get Back" documentary next month? **EDIT -- WHOA!! And somehow I manage to post 4 threads behind! LOL!! If anybody ever sees this -- say a prayer for me....**

2021-10-24 06:36:30 +0000 UTCit's easy to skip a vote, hit the right arrow button near the top (it's the greater than symbol ">") which takes you to the next vote and lets you skip. I skipped voting for Predator vs Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind just because I've seen one too many times and also want to see the other (which I haven't seen in a while), I let the fates decide.

2021-10-24 05:15:01 +0000 UTCyes some of the paired movies were painful to choose between - a few of them I wanted both to move forward. For example Singin' In The Rain vs Seven Samurai - whoah! To choose one, wut?! Hahaha... I like the body of work of Akira Kurosawa and there are many to choose from and the most recent one I've seen is The Hidden Fortress... but I still had to vote Singin' In The Rain. For me truly a tough choice - or an easy vote if they weren't against each other lol. Voting is fun, I'm glad I caught it. (Edit: I just caught the last hour/s of the previous day - this time I wish for Seven Samurai to win...)

2021-10-24 05:09:04 +0000 UTCSo... voting on the first round has been going for over two days now. How long are the rounds?

2021-10-23 21:28:33 +0000 UTCYes, that is also a problem and maybe they could at least have a split vote button option so you do not influence that choice either way. What I really dislike is when I have to choose between two amazing films, especially when I see some weaker ones (from my perspective) in other parts of the bracket, though, to be honest, I am not sure how they seed here. Also, to be fair, I do not have an alternative on how I would select movies to watch, since any methodology you implement you still have to deal with bias and unfamiliarity. It just saddens me to see some really great films buried that Cassie might not get a chance to see, though she seems pretty intent on getting to as many as possible. Can't be easy for reactors with so many suggestions.

2021-10-23 18:48:51 +0000 UTCFWIW, I'd substitute "Big Sleep" for "Maltase Falcon" as it's a much more relationship driven story.

2021-10-23 17:28:46 +0000 UTCNorth by Northwest is in my top 20 movies of all time.

2021-10-23 03:12:42 +0000 UTCThere are some great and excellent movies that are head to head in that bracket. It took me a couple of minutes to finish voting.

2021-10-23 01:01:47 +0000 UTC@Doug Fisher - It also bothers me that I cannot abstain from any match-up. It feels wrong choosing between 2 movies I've never seen/heard of (especially if I wouldn't watch a reaction for either [mostly movies from the last 15 years, admittedly]).

2021-10-22 20:12:49 +0000 UTCMan... there were a few choices in this one that were REALLY hard to make!

2021-10-22 17:54:09 +0000 UTCThat is part of the problem with bracket voting... people tend to vote for what they know, which does not always translate into the "best" one. Not throwing shade here... just saying. :)

2021-10-22 17:51:57 +0000 UTCI'm guessing after the first couple of tiers, she probably can't really control the match-ups. No idea though.

2021-10-22 08:37:48 +0000 UTCYes. I'm down for anything Russell Crowe.

2021-10-22 08:37:12 +0000 UTConly 2 movies i've never heard of are also 2 lowest vote getters so I don't feel as bad for not knowing them

2021-10-22 04:12:08 +0000 UTCCOLOR is a weird case. The script makes the film almost entirely self-contained and stand alone, so you can certainly watch it first, BUT, the movie was also clearly made and marketed around the appeal of seeing Newman reprising his role 20+ years later.

2021-10-22 04:07:43 +0000 UTCOne of the hardest to pick Brackets so far, I mean in a good way lol

2021-10-22 02:25:01 +0000 UTCThe way I figure, The Color of Money is technically a sequel, so it's disqualified until she's seen the first.

2021-10-22 00:41:52 +0000 UTCCan we reshuffle this bracket? I don't WANT to have to choose between Major League and The Color Of Money! :) lol
