I later appreciated John Wayne by cherry picking ones like, "The Searchers," "Big Jake," "The Cowboys," and "The green Berets." He truly is/was stuck in the old Hollywood system and was a relic, even when Eastwood was breaking out of the "system" and blazing his own weird western trail. Weird, that is, compared to Wayne's films, locked into an old school system of both production and standards.

2021-10-05 01:06:42 +0000 UTCI grew up watching reruns of all the spaghetti westerns. I was more Clint Eastwood era than John Wayne. After Clint there were a few good westerns made like Tombstone, Open Range, Silverado etc. A decent smaller bracket could be made. 😊
