The Others - Full Reaction

Here is my reaction to "The Others" WOW WOW WOW This was a TRIP!!! I tried not to psyche myself out so much, but couldn't help it!  Watching this back I'm laughing at myself because apparently my limbs lose all control when scared and I jump out of my face! I love Nicole Kidman, she was amazing, I refuse to accept the ending, it is haunting me. I never saw it coming and I can't believe it, I think she loved them.

Did you see the ending coming when you first saw it?

What an asshole comment.

This film has such a great twist, and its so fun to watch the second time around once you know said twist and can picture all the events from the intruders' POV. Love this one.

Boy are you in for a shock! LoL πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘»πŸ‘» πŸ‘»

You can’t let October pass without checking out The Crow.

Adam Richardson

I think she was still reacting to the Shining. Lol.

Marina

Oh calm down.

Labcurmudgeon79

It was still a fun reaction to watch. Keep at it.

Labcurmudgeon79

Not everyone reacts in the same way to movies. Maybe you should get out and learn how people are not the same, programmed like robots. How rude.

haha i know! i can’t help it πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ and i googled it, technically thriller/horror ;)

Cassie

I have never in my life seen a bigger scaredy cat. That isn't even that scary of a movie. There are maybe 4 or 5 jump scares and it has creepy music, but that's about it. I don't even think it's considered horror. I think it's a thriller. You should watch these movies with your kids. Maybe then, you'll stiffen your spine a little and not psyche yourself out so completely.

Labcurmudgeon79

Eating, sleeping, all done as ghosts. But I think it was all without substance. They were going through the motions.

Catherine LW

Good point Catherine, thanks for clearing that up.

Jon Johns

I think the breakdown was related to her husband being killed in the war. Remember the housekeeper said something about people doing strange things out of grief? And she looked at her intently when she said it.

Catherine LW

Never seen this before, just watched you're YouTube reaction. Personally, they could have made it so she killed her children out of mercy? Instead of because she had a breakdown? Would have made her more sympathetic. Mike the editor: well done, sir, well done.

Jon Johns

The thing I love about this movie, and it's one of my favorite horror films of all time, is that at the end, it actually makes ghosts *less* scary, because if they don't realize they're dead, they quite literally are more afraid of you than you are of them. It humanizes an otherwise creepy as hell monster in the best way. And really, if you think about this movie from Victor and his family's perspective, it works just as well, if not better, as a horror movie. Like, you move to this house, and the curtains constantly close on their own, you see two strange kids in the bed when you're trying to sleep, the piano shuts on its own, the sheets covering the furniture get ripped off, and then you find out what actually happened. But the funniest thing is, the ghosts are just as terrified, and kind of just want to mind their own business. And at the end, they get to be together with no fear about anything, ever again. Such an exquisite combination and I knew I had to subscribe just to see your reaction to this masterpiece. I am not disappointed.

Where did you watch this? I could not find it anywhere online!

Alan Kobb

Fair point, but their mother did the same thing when her husband came back.

RavenLunatic

I thought about that after too as well, but maybe they were just because the mother was so obsessed about being in denial, they had to have their routine kept so specifically!

Cassie

Later on, I was suspicious, but I did not give it much consideration because it did not make much sense to me for them to be sleeping while dead.

RavenLunatic

When I first saw this, I copped the servants were ghosts pretty quickly (all but confirmed when Bertha said "it feels like we've never left this house") but I had no inkling about the main twist. An old house shrouded in fog will never not be creepy, and isolation is always a great theme for horror, as we saw last time out:) And you're right about Nicole Kidman, she is terrific.
