Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi - Full Reaction

Hey guys! I'm late to posting this, but here's the full reaction to Episode VI! Okay, so I think this one is my favorite yet. The ending was perfect - the good guys won and Hans and Leia are in love. There are still lots of unanswered questions, but I've heard I'll get my answers in Episodes 1-3. I will be watching the rest, but it probably won't be until November as I'll be doing some spooky-but-not-to-spooky movies in October.

Also, for some reason my mic decided to pick up the sound on the TV more than usual, so the background noise is a bit stronger in this one.. I tried to quiet it down a bit but you'll still hear the movie sound in the background. (For those who don't know my setup - I listen to the movies nice and loud with some wireless earbuds but also have the sound playing slightly from the TV so I can easily sync).

Thank you all for your support here on Patreon, you guys are the best!

Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi - Full Reaction

Comments

The download video is for Rise Of Skywalker and not Return Of The Jedi, FYI! :)

I didn't agree with putting Hayden Christensen at the end of this, should have been an old Anakin, the one that died, but I understand why Lucas did it.

I laughed so hard first at you thinking Luke was being way too cocky right before he goes ahead and kicks everyone's ass, then when he kisses Leia on the cheek and you're screaming "WHAT WAS THAT LEAN IN???" It's his sister, he cares about her, he's allowed to kiss her on the cheek LOL. Better than the huge one she planted on him in 'Empire'. That was awkward.

Fun Fact: The “cute teddy bear” Ewok was played by a little person who was a kid at the time and then he returned in the sequels to play the Ewok again and this time he brought his son to play one too. He also played the goblin in Harry Potter, who takes Harry to his bank vault. Also, Kenny Baker who played R2-D2 and was inside the droid also played an Ewok in some scenes since he was also a little person.

Hey Cassie, I went back and was rewatching your Star Wars reactions and you were mentioning the changes that George Lucas made when they were remastered. It’s mostly in between CGI scenes that they didn’t have the technology to do in 1977-1983. I’ll give you an example. At the end of Return of The Jedi, Vader kills the Emperor and they blow up the Death Star 2.0 as you called it. In the original release we see everyone celebrating in the Ewoks (teddy bears) tree houses only and Luke sees the ghosts of old Obi Wan, Yoda and Anakin Skywalker. But the prequels hadn’t been made yet, so the ghost of Anakin is the actor who played Vader when Luke took his helmet off. When they remastered it, they included CGI scenes of several other cities celebrating the destruction of the Empire and not just the celebration in the tree houses and they changed the ghost of Anakin to Hayden Christianson. Some of the creatures were done using CGI rather than puppets like Jabba, who had several puppeteers controlling different parts of him. Originally we didn’t see Jabba until ROTJ, but they added a deleted scene in episode IV of Han talking to him and they made a CGI Jabba. Jabba wasn’t originally supposed to have a tail so, when they filmed it, Han walks around him and refers to him as a “human being” which you picked up on and thought was strange. When Lucas decided to put that scene back in, he had to make Jabba look like what we saw in ROTJ and when Han walks around him, they made it look like he stepped on Jabba’s tail. In episode IV, when we first meet C-3PO and R2 after they landed on Tatooine and are sold to Luke’s uncle, we see the stormtroopers looking for them and riding some large lizard dinosaur creatures. Those were added in with CGI, if I remember correctly, they originally had one elephant with covering over it, so it didn’t look like an elephant. Yoda was a puppet in episode V, made by Jim Henson who did the muppets. But in the prequels, he is CGI. If you look close in episodes IV, V and VI, you can see some CGI scenes that they never could’ve done in the original releases of the late 70’s early 80’s

The Speeder Bike chase sequence *is 100% identical to what I saw on the original theatrical release* Actually the majority of the current version (well over 90%) is the same as what I saw in 1983! Some fans are so entitled, and too many have exaggerated their complaints and yelled them repeatedly, that it seems there’s more changed than there actually is! Artists (which all filmmakers are) cannot make coherent works of any integrity based on audience demands! The result would be chaotic But then again I fully support Artists’ Rights. If someone objects to what an artist does WITH THEIR OWN CREATIVE WORKS, the objector is free to create their own original work, or choose to see something else. /end rant

Agree, I hate how they added that in.

RJ MacReady

Doug Fisher The theatrical releases aren't canon. Just ask Lucasfilm, the studio that made the films.

Kal-El_138

Kakarot134 Yeah, and all the additions suck! Theatrical release IS canon and it is the only version most SW fans would choose. It is the only version I watch (well, except for this reaction from Cassie to support her). Han shot first!

Doug Fisher

It works better in the original version when Vader decides to kill the emperor because instead of shouting "NOOOO" inspiring music plays, upping the surprise factor and giving a lot of emotional depth. I won't buy the blurays because they have the noooo

Dustin Nelson

They aren't. There is different songs in Return of The Jedi, Boba Fett has a different voice, Jabba is not a guy in a New Hope, Darth Vader says ''no!'' in Return of The Jedi, he also has no eyebrows, Anakin's Force ghost looks way younger, Greedo says ''maclunkey'' and also shoots first. There are so many differences besides just effects shots.

Kal-El_138

Cassie, I was 17 when this movie came out. I had to wait until I was 33 before seeing Episode I in the theatres.

Chris Reise

They're still canon, the new effects that were added in the special editions don't change the story. If you add up all the new scenes together, only about 5 minutes was added to the original trilogy...the new scenes were just basically new effects shot.

Chris Reise

The despecialized versions aren't canon.

Kal-El_138

I wis you all the best and i am looking forward to see you watch other movies ! Kiss

Hi Cassie. Greetings from germany :-) and thank you for your reactions !!!

Rüdiger Radtke

The speeder bike scene in the forest was not changed. It is exactly as it was in the theatrical release, thankfully.
