2021-09-06 20:42:38 +0000 UTCThank you! I’ll look for it, sounds like it’s right up my alley!

2021-09-06 20:32:54 +0000 UTCI hadn’t seen 12 angry men in ages and couldn’t remember a lot of it so I watched it again. It’s damn good!

2021-09-06 19:39:56 +0000 UTCI completely forgot, too, they're celebrating Toshiro Mifune's 100 birthday for a few more weeks, I think, with 26 of his films, including all the big ones! https://youtu.be/RxVEJj1Fvec

2021-09-06 19:33:45 +0000 UTCSo, I haven't logged into my "Criterion Channel" in a few weeks, and damn, September is amazing! If you want to try out one of the best classic film subscription channels, it's like $10.99 a month, or $100 a year, and this month is just amazing! They have regulars, staples, but every month they feature some director, or theme. John Huston is featured this month, 19 choice films of his, stories from NYC is a theme with several films highlighting time periods set in New York, Essential Art house is another category this month, with films like, Rashomon, Henry V, Bicycle Thieves, The Gold Rush (chaplin) The Wages of Fear, 8 1/2... So many more. Anyway, this seems like the thread most likely to have interest in this channel, for $11 it's worth it to watch 10-15 films this month to try it out.

2021-09-06 19:29:07 +0000 UTCI’m torn between the two. One one hand, Grace Kelly edges it out in terms of leading lady over Eva Marie Saint. But then, James Mason is such a great villain!

2021-09-06 19:14:07 +0000 UTCI take your point, which would have applied even stronger with North by Northwest.

2021-09-06 18:14:45 +0000 UTCI love "12 Angry Men" and have seen some great discussions on strategy based on it. You are also right in saying "Casablanca" would be great for her. But, if I had to decide between them and "Rear Window", I would put "Rear Window" on top because it is such a wild ride. It is also in color which may ease her into older movies rather and starting off with a black and white movie.

2021-09-06 17:01:28 +0000 UTCOf the survivors, 12 Angry Men is my favorite (possibly a result of a career at the bar and on the bench), but Casablanca strikes me as right up Cassie's alley.

2021-09-06 14:21:39 +0000 UTCI'm just gonna drop in here to say, and I know most won't read it, but, I'm really happy about these discussions, most of the time, even the comments I disagree with, you all have passionate thoughts about film, and are generally not jerks about it. Thanks everyone for feeding my need for film discussion. Cassie has brought us all together, so she gets credit, but you've all chosen to participate, and I appreciate you.

2021-09-06 14:06:30 +0000 UTCWizard of Oz and either 12 Angry Men/Casablanca/Citizen Kane/Rear Window/Psycho. No matter what we will have two very different old classic movies for Cassie to React. Which will be great.

2021-09-06 13:48:31 +0000 UTCNo, 12 angry men lost and are in the losers bracket. It will face the winner of the four movies that are left in the losers bracket. The final winner in the losers bracket will go to final vs The wizard of Oz to determine which she will watch first.

2021-09-06 10:41:53 +0000 UTCGreat summary of an absolutely fantastic movie. The way the script develops and references back to earlier points is just amazing as is the character development.

2021-09-06 08:55:28 +0000 UTCDoes this mean you'll be reacting to 12 Angry Men? (Forgive me -- I'm new and I don't know how the polls work here.) If so, I'm thrilled! It's funny -- I was going to suggest it anyway. I think you'd love it. You know those lists of the top films of all time? You'll often see 12 Angry Men on these. I'm not surprised -- it really is that good. Everything is superb: the script, directing, cinematography, editing. And the acting! It's hard to describe the acting, because...well, I can't think of another movie where every single actor is brilliant. 12 Angry Men is not a horror movie, nor an action movie. No jump scares, no ghosts, no explosions. It's a human drama, taking place mostly in one room. The truly amazing thing is that the plot is so simple. But the way it unfolds is electrifying.

2021-09-06 07:30:46 +0000 UTCLooks like it’s between 12 Angry Men and The Wizard of Oz.

2021-09-06 07:00:13 +0000 UTCI don't ever see Cassie going anywhere near things like Saw, Hostel, the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Dee Snider's Strangeland lol. She could handle the original Halloween and The Shining I think though
William Bryan
2021-09-06 03:02:55 +0000 UTCIronically there is way more stabbing and blood in T2 than Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the '74 version anyway lol
William Bryan
2021-09-06 02:25:24 +0000 UTCIf she's brave enough. I know her awesome sister isn't brave enough sense she hates the t 1000 stabing habits

2021-09-06 02:14:46 +0000 UTCI wish she would watch Halloween on Halloween. The music alone will scare her lol

2021-09-06 02:10:02 +0000 UTCYou think Cassie will ever get to anything like Halloween, The Shining or TCM?
