Way too many option that are better watches than most current films. My vote is for "Goodbye Mr. Chips" 1939 with Robert Donat.

2021-09-23 20:41:55 +0000 UTCSo many great choices here. But, in my humble opinion, Casablanca is THE classic film of all time. - and that's coming from a guy whose favorite movie ever is Jaws!

2021-09-08 17:54:51 +0000 UTCA friend of mine had never seen "Casablanca," so I made him watch it. He was shocked (shocked!) at how many classic lines he recognized.

2021-09-05 19:58:54 +0000 UTCThat is true. I hope to see her do both at some point. I think she would also do well with "The African Queen." That Bogart guy has been getting damsels in distress transport since WW1.

2021-09-05 04:32:58 +0000 UTCHmm. I feel differently. WOZ is good. But IMHO, she will feel Casablanca to the core.
2021-09-05 02:28:26 +0000 UTCAndy, most of us would find it difficult to remember the first time we saw the film. This could provide a sense of that moment. When you see 1939, it blows your mind that the film has retained it's power. I'm with you and your little dog.

2021-09-05 01:17:26 +0000 UTCWizard of Oz is the greatest American film in my opinion. It has stood the test of time. It is not just a musical but an extraordinary blend of humor, love and fear. A film that touches all ages and ground breaking in cinematography. Virtually every scene has found its way into the American fabric. No film has as many lines cited in our lexicon. It defined Kansas. The witch became the iconic image and voice. Flying monkeys, still creepy. Amazing dancing and the music, oh the music. Unbelievable costumes and makeup. What a rare treat to see the reaction of an adult seeing this iconic film for the first time.

2021-09-04 20:57:29 +0000 UTCWizard of Oz, not the greatest ever made. Maybe the most played movie on all media formats. But not the best.

2021-09-04 20:40:43 +0000 UTCI'll be honest, I've seen about 11 of these and I've forgotten a lot about some of them. I recently saw a reaction for Casablanca but that doesn't mean I watched it in its entirety. Oh I saw at least 2 reactions to Psycho as well, maybe 3. The last one I saw personally has to be Singin' In The Rain. In the theater (let me ask my friend) I know I saw come classics in the past 3 years. (Normally when I make a movie recommendation I try to watch it first just to make sure I'm recalling it properly before I even mention it.)
