The other great Michael J. Fox film is The Frighteners, directed by Peter Jackson. You should definitely check it out too!

You mention at the beginning how you love the BTTF theme and score. That's Allen Sylvestri. He has done many great scores including the Forest Gump score. I am a high school drumline instructor and we did an Allen Sylvestri show one year with the BTTF theme and the theme to Forest Gump as our ballad amongst other pieces he composed. He is one of my favorite movie composers along with Hans Zimmer.

Well, it has been a little since your comment, but you are right, the story about the 'Clayton Ravine' is from school and Marty tells about it, so it is an information from before the first movie. You are very right, in both scenarios, Clara survives and so it keeps its old name "Shonash Ravine", but finally after the locomotive has crashed, Marty aka Clint Eastwood assumedly died, Marty lands on the bridge over the then "Eastwood Ravine". And there are many little things which change according to the storyline as e.g. the 'Twin Pines' become 'Lone Pine' after Marty knocks one of them over etc. And I think also these little things make this trilogy so extraordinary besides the great story, the perfect actors, really great acting and how they implemented and introduced the different times, even if not every invention was done until now. 😂

I have ALWAYS loved this trilogy. Thanx you for allowing me to see it for the first time again. :) I have a request...if I can put one here in the messages. My favourite movie of all time (and yes my son makes fun of me all the time for it cuz it's a chick flick) is "Serendipity" with Kate Beckinsale and John Cusack.

3 in a row, I'm a train wreck🤦‍♂️

I read an interesting theory on how Clara didn't fall in the ravine when Doc went there first. He was told to go meet and pick up Clara. And in doing so she arrived safely so she didn't fall in the ravine. When Marty comes back he is still told to pick up Clara but they went to check out the the bridge first so Clara drove herself (like she would of if Doc or Marty never went back in time). But luckily they saved her. So in both scenarios she avoided her death.

Groovy Reacts

You also have to remember that parts 2 and 3 were shot together in their entirety. So a hard piece of work for the actors and the director. But of course Zemeckis always had the big picture in mind while individual actors were probably not always quite clear in what exact time context the one or other scene played. Especially since it was not shot chronologically :-).

So, so glad you liked it. BTTF3 is kind of a hit-or-miss for a lot of people. Whether it's the setting, the subplot with Clara (which I love btw) or just the tiredness of the series as a whole, 3 is considered a bit of a black sheep. At least that's always the impression I got; the person talking about how they dislike 2 but love 3 had me surprised. As I've said, I watched 3 SO much as a kid, just as much as any other movie we had on VHS (Lion King, Aladdin, Great Mouse Detective, etc.) so I can't help but always love 3. It has a pretty special place in my heart.

Oh my gosh, wow! Someone also said he said something like "pain lasts but a moment, a movie lasts a lifetime" referring to the incident. He seems like just such a good guy.

Good point!!

I wasn't able to see if the scene they included in the final cut was the one from the accident, but I did find this quote from M.J.F.'s autobiography: “I swung unconscious at the end of the rope for several seconds before Bob Zemeckis, fan of me though he was, realized even I wasn't that good of an actor.”

Jay Kawala

That I dont know. I would imagine yes. Would you volunteer to shoot it again after being hanged for realy by mistake? I wouldn't.

Labcurmudgeon79

Holy cow you weren’t kidding, i looked him up, he did lead a crazy life!

Cassie

Just rewatched the hanging scene. is the one in the movie the one where he got hurt? That’s scary!

Cassie

That's disconcerting to hear. I remember thinking while I was watching "wow, the makeup looks really good - Marty looks like he's really being strangled..." Well, now I feel weird about that.

Jay Kawala

In the hanging scene early in the movie, Michael J. Fox really got hanged when they were shooting it. Almost really hurt him. Shooting had to be halted.

The DeLorean was a real car named for the maker John DeLorean. He had an interesting life-look him up. The car was made from 1975 until 1982.
