Gladiator Next!

Looks like the majority voted for Gladiator to be the next reaction! I sense a theme here.. :D. I'll be watching it this week and posting the full-length reaction hopefully by Monday/Tuesday. Thanks guys!!

The Patrons demand tears, gasps and emotional upheaval. Thumb up! They will be entertained!

Nick Hook

I don't think Gladiator is that good of a movie but she might like it. If you're interested in going that route I would definitely recommended Starz TV show Spartacus.

Damn everyone is fighting and whining like a bunch of chicks with some serious pre menstrual syndrome LOL

When it comes to being a patron and her stated goals on running a patreon campaign in the first place , I obviously disagree with you, and that's all I'm talking about.

Jimmy Crackcorn

Huh? Since we are patrons, I think her goals here are very much our business as well. That's the whole point of being on patreon. No? We, or at least I am not, trying to dictate everything she watches in her life. We're just getting involved with what she reacts to here and on YouTube and we pay for that opportunity.

Jimmy Crackcorn

@andy, who is denying her anything? If there are movies to vote on, only one can win at a time. Is that denying her all of the other options in the vote? I guess it is, but then public voting probably shouldn't be the method used to pick what film is reacted to. Good question on what a good reaction movie is. Could be a discussion on it's own. I think, in the end, its just as subjective as a what a "good movie" is. I agree that if the goal is to discover lesser known films here, the typical reactor construct probably isn't the way to go. I didn't think that was her exact goal though, but rather for just to do the typical reactor-thing for well-known and popular films that she missed. Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm totally good with that approach, because of her own unique reactions to each film.

Jimmy Crackcorn

@jessica yes. agreed. I should have been clearer, but I saw a reply to one of your comments where the idea of click-chasing was introduced. Didn't mean to infer that you, yourself, said or implied it . I moved on to a more general response to some of the things I was reading in the later comments. I'm all for diversity of films to react to. I just hope they are selected because they are actually "good reaction films" and not simply because it is a "different type" if film. Even if dislike the movie, I'll likely still be interested to watch her reaction to it. She has such a wonderfully authentic response. I think this is what we are all here for. Right?

Jimmy Crackcorn

@jessica I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion based in what I said. My point remains that not all movies make for great reaction videos, no matter who makes the film or stars in the film. It should not be a surprise that some of the most popular movies get the most votes. People, of all types, love those films and love to share the experience with those who haven't ... Or relive the first-time-experience through the others. I hope we aren't labeling Ms. Popcorn as a click-chaser just because she chooses to react to these popular films.

Jimmy Crackcorn

I'm excited to go to this time period, and the storytelling! My skin is getting thicker by the movie so hopefully, I can handle it :)

Cassie

Thank you Andy, really appreciate this comment! That is the goal, to build a community and watch all genres of stuff I have been hiding from! Thanks for the support!

Cassie

Jay! Yes! What you described is the dream, to not just watch the youtube view favs but all the older, or not so mainstream romantic comedies that I haven't seen before, and I can't wait to get to some of those! As a channel just starting to grow I wanted to start with the most suggested movies from the comments and those movies that everyone has been telling me I HAVE to see for the last 10 years! I'm hoping I can keep doing this as long as it is still fun for me and the viewers and I love that my watch list is 100's of movies long right now! Thanks for the comment :)

Cassie

Hey Jessica, I so appreciate your comments and feedback and totally get it! As a channel just starting out, and as a person who has been under "a movie rock" for a long time, I started with the ones that have been most suggested in the comments and on lots of "top 10 movies of all time" type of lists to see these great films that I've been hearing "you HAVE to see this" for years but sheltered myself from! I'm having a blast doing this so far, and am so excited to continue to watch all types of movies, not just the "popular reactor" ones, although every one I have seen so far have been so great! I'm excited to do some of the picks that have been suggested but haven't won the polls that are a different genre like Fried Green Tomatoes, Amelie, Get Out etc. And I LOVE A League of Their Own, it was one of my dad's favorites and think of him everytime I watch it! Thanks again for being here and the comment :)

Cassie

I agree with you Jessica that there are missed opportunities to see many really wonderful films if most of the reactors are chasing the same 'blockbusters'. I suppose it depends on if the reactors are interested in getting YouTube clicks, or building a community on Patreon for a subset of reactions videos that may not get the 'views', but do allow for personal expression. I had hoped that with her interest in romantic comedies that Popcorn would end up watching a different set of movies and not follow the pack. We shall see how it goes I guess.

Jay Kawala

Fair warning, this movie is pretty brutal at times. It's not sustained brutality like SPR, but there are very sharp sequences of it. Still, it's in service of a fantastic story that I predict you will enjoy overall.

Jimmy Crackcorn

I hear you, but I think these same films are popular for reaction videos because they generally elicit very entertaining reactions... At least in part. There are countless, great movies that wouldn't make for interesting reaction videos.
