Groundhog Day (1993) - Full Reaction

Comments

Time for my new yearly February 2nd tradition, Cassie Groundhog day!

That's cool you watched Schitt's Creek. Hilarious. Chris Elliot was made famous on The David Letterman show back in the early 1980s when I was in college. Our daily routine during the week was to stop studying at 11:30 pm and put Letterman on the TV. Characters that Chris Eliot played on Letterman included "The Conspiracy Guy," "The Panicky Guy," "The Guy Under the Seats," "The Fugitive Guy," "The Laid Back Guy," and a few others.

I'm watching this movie in November. Dunno. Just wanted to see it again.

Stephen Dias

Thank you so much, Cassie. This movie was the reason I joined your Patreon, and I was a little sad because it wasn't available.

Guess what? 👆

Brett Richey

Yippee! I've been hoping you'd update this one, Cassie. Thank you x

Is this reaction lost forever? Can't be reuploaded or something?

Diego González

Oh, I decided to watch this one today, and it says it doesn't exist. Is there a way to watch it?

Diego González

The full reaction for Groundhog Day says "does not exist."

Gosh you're an upbeat lady! Groundhog Day 2024 👍

Andie MacDowell is beautiful. "What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?" "You like boats, but not the ocean. You go to a lake in the summer with your family up in the mountains. There's a long wooden dock and a boathouse with boards missing from the roof, and a place you used to crawl underneath to be alone. You're a sucker for French poetry and rhinestones. You're very generous. You're kind to strangers and children, and when you stand in the snow you look like an angel."

Watching on Groundhog Day! Glad the audio issues have since improved. I literally can’t hear your commentary.😕

Bryan Erickson

Read somewhere that someone worked out how long Phil was in the time loop. It was just over thirty years.

Great flick ... one I consider to be a "new" movie as it was made after 1975. I can hardly wait to watch It's A Wonderful Life, The Apartment, and The Quiet Man. It's just my opinion but movies like Saving Pvt Ryan or Schindler's List are excellent but slightly too intense for watching with Cassie. Romance/comedy is probably the best genre here.

One year later and I'm watching Cassie's reaction to Groundhog Day on Groundhog Day.

There is another love story type film similar to this called "12:01". A big difference is that they explain WHY the day keeps repeating itself. It stars Jonathan Silverman ("Weekend at Bernie's") and Helen Slater ("Supergirl" 1984). I guess you could categorize it as a sci-fi, comedy love story.

Chris Reise

When it gets December it would be great if you watched Scrooged if you haven’t seen it. It’s Bill Murray too and is a great take on A Christmas Carol.

Trembling Colors

I can tell you are barely staying awake on this one! :) haha! Awwww... busy mom! I love this movie!

Cassie! I'm only 6 months late to watching this... Many internet sleuths have noodles out he was in the loop for about 30 years!

Jon Johns

GROUNDHOG DAY's same day over and over plot established a sub-genre of movies that utilize the same basic story structure. EDGE OF TOMORROW, BEFORE I FALL, SOURCE CODE, and HAPPY DEATH DAY and its sequel have featured this entertaining plot dynamic to various degrees.

A little late to this reaction, but you might recognize Andie MacDowell from commercials. She has been the face of L'Oréal since 1986. I always remember her from St. Elmo's Fire and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Jen Barnes

CRAP! I remember 12:01 pm. Saw it on Showtime when new. Blew my mind! Every time I seer/hear Groundhog Day, I remember.

An unfortunately somewhat forgotten film released the same year as "Groundhog Day" that deals with the time loop theme is "12:01" with Helen Slater.
