2025 Year End Art Review!

Happy almost 2025 everyone! 🥳 Figured it was high time to look back on another year of making smut! (Get ready for me to yap like crazy, lolol)

I really can't overstate how much I enjoy putting these little art memes together. When I'm hopping from one project to the next or juggling multiple WIPs at once, I kind of forget how MUCH stuff I'm actually finishing, and cobbling it all together gives me a much needed sense of accomplishment 🤭

As for the year in review, some thoughts: I'll get the heavy stuff out of the way first. I won't pretend 2025 wasn't difficult for a LOT of reasons. It's been extremely challenging at times to feel connected to my work when there's people in power who want to make it impossible or illegal for me to make a living off of adult content. That's to say nothing of all the other gut-wrenching things that have transpired this year.

I won't dig into it too much, because the point I want to make is actually a positive and optimistic one! BUT - I wouldn't be accurately reflecting on the professional and creative challenges of this year if I didn't touch on it a little bit. There's been a lot of uncertainty, including needing to delete a bunch of work off of here to undo a suspension - and picturing the future has felt almost impossible. All the while, I've somehow still managed to hold on to this immense privilege of being able to continue making art for y'all.

All this is to say - I owe SO much to all of you. Despite it all, I have an incredible year of artwork to reflect on, and I couldn't have done any of that without your support. Thank you for sticking around and keeping this community going, for enjoying my art, and for helping me stay motivated and positive when things looked scary. You all give meaning to what I do, and I couldn't be more grateful knowing that even while this has been a challenging year for so many of you, you still choose to be here 💗

Ok, whew! All that aside - I do want to reflect on some more process-specific stuff from this year, too!

Last year, I mentioned fine-tuning some of my rendering and mark-making over the course of 2024. That carried on through this year, but maybe in subtler ways. I sussed out that my line weight was getting thicker without me really realizing it, and I actually dialed that back a bit partway through the year. The same push-pull has been happening with how prominent I want certain textures to be, given that they tend to compete with my linework depending on how thick/contrasting it is on any given piece. (Nitpicky of me, I know, but what else is new😂)

Given the background stress in 2025, I wasn't in an ideal place mentally or creatively to make big experimental leaps with my style - though I DO hope to do a bit more of that in 2026. I have so many new brushes to try out!

Regardless, I do need novelty to stay excited about my art, and reminding myself of that was really crucial to my artistic practice. Recognizing my needs + the mental real-estate I had to address them, pushed me towards experimenting more with composition and subject matter rather than mark-making.

My mimic and Kar'niss pieces in early 2025 had a more zoomed out composition than most anything I did in 2024. I got to play with Kar'niss' webs and his spider legs to create some ambitious framing, and I was so stoked on the result! In July, I finally tackled that Nurgle gangbang artwork (I'd had a thumbnail sketch for it sitting on a back burner idea pile for almost two years!). In my September Nazgul piece, I played around with a decorative border and detail panels overlaid over the main artwork, and kept pulling that thread for the next few months with my Blight and Licker pieces. (And y'all already got my rambling about my December Ghostface artwork a few days ago, lol 🤭)

Again, I just want to thank you all for picking so much fun stuff for me to work on (with both comms and polls!), and for bringing me your excitement and positivity all year. Y'all keep me going and keep me inspired... And aside from beating my THANK YOU drum forever and always, the best way I can repay you is to hit the ground running in 2026, and make more weird smut of weird lil guys. 💗
