That episode is the definition of successfully running the race and tripping up just before the finish line lol. It hurts because everything was going so well. This is the best version of Subaru we've seen thus far, the one who took in all the harsh lessons of his character and finally started to change. Put his pride to the side and asked for help, received the best help he could ever ask for. Was uplifted by Rem to never give up.. then Wilhelm and even Felis (or Felix idk either). Made a good team with Julius side by side and took down evil. But even then it wasn't enough. Having to die like that just when you were gonna win the day sucks.
