Here’s a synopsis of sorts of the story behind this swap
Anyway, in this story, when Pyrrha unlocks Jaune’s aura, something goes wrong.
Aura is a representation of the soul, so when things go wrong they can go very wrong, Pyrrha and Jaune were lucky. Because in this case all that happened was them swapping bodies, it could have been much worse.
How did it happen though? Well, when unlocking someone’s aura, you need to insert a bit of your own aura into them to unlock it, like a jumpstart. Pyrrha accidentally inserted all of her aura, or all of her Soul to be more specific, into Jaune instead of a little bit. Since her aura was already unlocked, it acted like a denser liquid and pushed Jaune’s soul out of the way before sinking to the bottom. In this case it means Pyrrha’s souls entered Jaune’s body and pushed his soul somewhere else. That “somewhere else” happened to by Pyrrha’s body, which due to its lack of soul, quickly accepted Jaune’s bodiless soul.
Of course this all happened almost instantly, and Pyrrha did unlock his aura as well, it just happened afterwards the swap. Now both of them have their aura and this method cannot be repeated, another method needs to be used. Unfortunately neither of them know what happened in the first place.
Pyrrha has her suspicions that it was either due to the aura unlocking or Jaune immediately unlocking a body swapping semblance.
Jaune has no clue what’s going on, having faked his transcripts and just learned about aura a few minutes ago.
Been practicing with proportion and anatomy, I hope it’s starting to show.
