The Gondola Drydock (22x17)

Edit: There was a minor problem where I had forgotten to enable the window visibility on some of the map variants. This meant that the windows weren't displayed properly. I fixed these issues and re-uploaded all of the archives with corrected JPGs.

Edit 2, November 2021: I made some new variants! I can't believe I missed this in the past. There's a new download under Supporter for a normal drydock with fewer ships ala the underground ones.

Good morning! This week's map is based off of the gondola workshops and drydocks - squero - scattered around Venice. Though once there were many, these days there are only three still functional; the only place where you might be able to obtain a proper gondola.

Variants

• Supporter: Day, night, and rainy versions, as standard, but also a skydock edit to go with the sky version of the previous map. Greyscale too, as usual.
• Enthusiast: Two scenario-based variants! One has the workshop lit on fire - sabotage or an accident? The second is an elaborate and custom-designed gondola decorated with utterly gaudy patterns, silks, and colors. This is actually subdued compared to historical examples of commissioned gondolas; the designs grew so outrageous over time that the Doge issued an order that all gondolas be painted black and possess minimal ornamentation. There is also a variant of the commissioned gondola on fire, too. Good riddance.
• Benefactor: Also continuing from the last map, the benefactor variant today is more underground maps. Two extra minor edits are included, one with fewer boats in case you don't like the gondola theming and another with the gaudy overdecorated commissioned gondola.

Notes

Gondola, gondola. It's a fun word. I did a lot of research on this map, trying to figure out what the inside of a squero actually looked like. I could only find pictures/video of the workshop itself, though, so I basically had to guess and fill-in-the-blanks myself. Office, forge, storage, workshop. It should be serviceable.

I also reiterate - gondolas commissioned by the aristocracy were so utterly gaudy and showboaty (ha) that the Doge issued a decree banning gondolas in any color other than black. Historical European aristocracy are an endless font of amusing absurdities to shove into a game - bans on silks, tassels, excessive colors worn by merchants and other non-nobles; extravagant spending on silk and colors that would be considered garish today, because their only purpose was to conspicuously display wealth. Your noble could be wearing a coat composed entirely of checkerboarded purple-and-red silk, and noone would bat an eye.
