I am aware of the absolute dearth of Volatile Gases news, so let me explain. One of my biggest issues with the game so far has been the exploration and movement, or lack thereof. The world as you've seen it has been a linear height map, it's not engaging to traverse. This had me worried, anxiously so, because travel is something you will spend a lot of time doing, and having it be as boring as choosing whether to move left or right peeved me. I experimented a bit and changed to a room based structure with a bigger emphasis on verticality. The environment is more akin to a metroidvania now, a location can have more than two exits, and the layouts are a lot more deliberate which means I can make more interesting scenarios and setups. Broader traversal is also changed, instead of navigating a grid where each location has a maximum of 4 connections, the world is now more like a spider's web with locations being able to have anywhere from 1 to 10 connections. I'm quite happy with these changes, I hope they will prove fun to play.
