Review:
I'll start off by saying that this review will focus mostly at the 2nd installment than the first one. Both sequels have straight up top tier H pixel animations, and for that reason alone I'll recommend you to also check out the first game as well.
With that being said, Milky Quest 1 doesn't have much else going for it in terms of gameplay or story, and by the looks of it was probably made to showcase beautiful artwork and animations in a "game" setting.
Alright, so Milky Quest 1 did pretty well regardless of its drawback. (I mean, people DO buy these titles mainly for one reason) and as a result we got Milky Quest 2 that came out just recently with an incredible overhaul of, well.. EVERYTHING!
There's a real story to follow this time, with an actual battle system, and a my god, the stunning animations got even better!
So you start as a male protagonist that wakes up in an unknown forest, you take a few steps to explore the area, and before you know you're assaulted by a beautiful water planet maiden.
This part of the game introduces you to the basics of the battle system:
You face a cute girl in her birthday suit with her own theme (fairy, plant, ghost etc..) and your job is to make her climax before you do. Each of you have HP that will determine victory.
You know, I've seen many battle systems in my life, but one where you gotta choose which is most effective: D slap, Thigh thrust, or a Furious piston attack, now THAT had me both laughing and intrigued at the same time.
Each of the girls you win over can be placed at the "gallery" back home, where you can either refight them or slowly enjoy each of the "battle" interactions.
As mentioned earlier - the pixel art work is pretty much a 10/10, even more detailed than the first installment and looks much smoother with even more animation frames!
Honestly, overall Milky Quest II is pretty well made for a "basic" RPG title.
You can often tell the difference between RPGmaker to Wolf RPG Editor titles. Wolf is aimed at advanced users and basically people who know their shit, while RPGmaker CAN produce great titles, but more often than not is targeted at creators with more shallow or basic game development knowledge, and the results are accordingly as well.
The playthrough isn't braindead either, so you'll have to do a bit of planning ahead instead of jumping into battles and expecting to win effortlessly. Some boss fights will probably straight up destroy you if you're not careful.
Do note that the game is currently in Japanese only, but there IS an English patch.
It is also censored, but there IS an uncensored patch too!
Both can be found over the internet, since they're not official, but you are more than welcomed to DM me for more or specific info about the patches.
After all is said and done - I HEAVILY recommend checking out these amazing titles! 👍
Milky Quest I & II are both available on DLsite.
