Also known as "Shurin" or "Syuurin", is a solo dev that "make games and draw pictures" based on their short bio introduction.
They recently released an action game called "Endless Dream", and me being a sucker for all ACT H titles had to check it out asap. Now... before I go on about that title, I'd like to first fast forward a bit and say that this dev's approach kinda left me annoyed.
I know it's common in the H scene to put something short up together from scratch just to showcase the beautiful adult artwork, but what really grinds me is when a dev ALMOST creates a real game.
I mean, you already went through all the effort to put down the foundations for proper functioning titles that could leave a memorable experience. I'm not asking for the next Dead Cells or Cuphead here, but you gotta respect your own capabilities and the boundaries of your project.
Now after saying all that, here are summaries of each titles and my thoughts. You can also watch the video I prepared above to see what I'm talking about.
Endless Dream:
Their latest title, which is an autorunner.
I actually love autorunners, not the smartphones ones though, because any game that asks for microtransactions lost all its validation in my eyes. But I do wish we've seen more of these around, and it also explains why I picked this game first.
You control either a female warrior or a kunoichi of sort, that gets provoked by what else - a succubus. You can jump, dash and attack, with enemies are placed randomly on your way to the end.
So far sounds standard, only that there was no effort to add any actual platforming other than death pits. Every dash and attack is accompanied with delays before and after execution, which ruins the entire momentum of the run.
I'd be totally fine with the game's easy difficulty if it at least tried to provide a smooth experience - as short as it may be.
H content is very barebones, but with future content updates it seems.
Right now there are only 2 H CG's (well drawn multiple artwork scenes that tie together), and a the usual enemies grab animations - which are sadly very poorly done. Based on another title of this dev, I can safely say that they should stick to 2D.
RUINTERRIBLE:
An action side-scroller, and their only other action title.
You'd think that with a name like that the game will be equally as bad or worse, but in fact it's much more competent than Endless Dream.
You control a female warrior with a giant sword that starts out with a few basic combos, a skill, and one ranged move. There's a bit of a story as you progress, and the main gameplay is basically going from point A to point B while mowing through enemies and the occasional bosses.
Not a bad game honestly, or rather not a bad start for a game. You get a whole bunch of combos (you need to buy most of them) that you just won't use. There wasn't any real combat testing done here, so you can basically spam attack, uppercut, and whatever active skill that isn't on cooldown.
This title got me the most disappointed, because with a bit more polish they could have something along the lines of Maken Incubus that I already covered.
Like I said - it doesn't have to be a gaming masterpiece, but if you already decided to focus on a combo system, then the least you should do is engage the player with a learning curve to feel like a badass for executing wild combos, even if the enemies drop like flies. (which they aren't in this case)
The 3D H animations aren't done so well here, but at least the animated CG is pretty decent and I did find it enjoyable. Just a real shame about the gameplay that again - almost cut it.
Royal Girl Adrift:
A 2D survival game made with RPG TKool MV.
Surprisingly, this was the most competent action title of Suniiru, probably because they worked with tools and a skillset more suitable to their limits as a developer.
As any survival game, your main objective is to... well.. survive.
Collect items such as wood and rocks in order to craft items that will further improve your life and help progress through the objectives and collecting other resources.
The day runs on a Day & Night cycle with weather conditions that will also affect your status.
Overall not a bad game. There are 3 islands in total, but by the 2nd island you've already seen everything. Each island has its own objective that you must find out through key items and exploration. While it does get repetitive, it certainly has a bit of that survival genre charm, and as someone who doesn't really play these type of games, I found myself enjoying it the most.
H content consists of only still CGs. They're all drawn nicely, but I wouldn't recommend this game if that the only reason you're going for. You're better off watching these somewhere else instead. Otherwise the gameplay is pretty nice and worth the hour or so you'll put in if you're into that kind of gameplay.
Dissolute Daydream:
An clicker / Idle simulation game.
It's not that I never heard about adult SLG games, it's just that there aren't that many decent ones.
Dissolute Daydream isn't quite a top shelf clicker game, but it gets the job done, and I shamelessly admit clicking and micro-managing for 10 minutes straight to unlock everything.
You know, there aren't really that many decent clicker games out there, so I'll give it pass. It works, it's neat, it's short, and that's all a clicker game needs to be.
I couldn't include it in the video above for obvious reasons.
⭐ There are another two individual titles called "GO-IN * IDOL Lesson!" and "Seikan Controller". Both are pure artist CG / illustrations titles.
There is also another non-H adventure game called "Sanguinea" that I didn't review since it's irrelevant here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
So that sums up Suniiru.
I'll hand it to them that since they work alone (or at least that was my impression), then I totally understand their shortcomings as a developer. But regardless, anyone who decides to develop a project should always understand his own limits instead of putting out a half-assed job.
There was no way I was going to make a post only about one of these titles, since you're better off either watching all of their juicy content online, or play them all at once to somewhat get the experience of a single decent experience.
All of Suniiru's titles are available on DLsite.
