Suggestions for Jason's Class (spoilers)
Added 2025-03-04 15:44:52 +0000 UTCSo, since Jason subbed in Will's hand for the Saint piece the Church wanted him to use, he's going to get a similar class.
I was trying to think of a suitably badass name, and came up with this:
Prophet of the End
As in, the prophet that will foretell the destruction of The Tower and the end of the cycle of destruction humans have been locked in for who knows how long.
Of course, everybody and their mom is gonna think it means 'end of the world', because that's a fairly reasonable assumption.
Anyway!
I need Ability suggestions for him to sort through for his first choices.
I'm toying with the idea of some kind of Storytelling Ability that lets him create an effect based on how viral the story goes...but it feels a little underwhelming. I don't know what the effect could be, nor how to implement it.
Feel free to comment on how that could be implemented, or suggest your own Abilities!
The Sacrifices these Abilities will be based on are as follows:
Tree of Empires
1 resistance, 2 focus, 2 acuity,
Destiny, Growth, Empire
Glory Eagle
2 resistance, 1 focus, 2 strength.
Glory, Light
William Oh’s Left Hand
1 resistance, 1 focus, 1 acuity, 1 kinesthetics.
Myth, Relic.
Also, i'm not entirely sold on the 'Light' aspect of the Glory eagle, so if you've got a better suggestion?
Also be aware that Jason's stat growth is that of an incredibly powerful mage.
Prophet of the End Level 1
2 Strength
1 Kinesthetics
4 Resistance
4 Focus
3 Acuity

As long as the story is truthful. If the story is based on %fabrication then a debuff? Since he's a prophet of William Oh, it would only make sense that it would depend on Will's morality and view of the story.

2025-04-01 00:37:32 +0000 UTCOne thing that could be done, once Jason ears some levels, is that for every hundred or some other large number people that hear a story about William oh, he receives a very small percentage stat bonus relating to that story. So if there's a story about how William o tanked a bunch of damage, once a thousand people have heard that story, he gets 1% damage resistance.

2025-03-05 16:24:34 +0000 UTCI like the idea of an ability that allows him to give Relics abilities. It works by him hyping the item enough and giving it a legend. The greater the legend the better the ability. But the ability is based off of the legend so there could be shenanigans if the story changes too much from Jason's original intent.

2025-03-05 01:47:02 +0000 UTCFate guiding hand The stories create myths, which Jason could emulate in similiar manner to how Will uses his hand consumed relics. The more People share The story, more People believe it The more powerful skill it gives Access to. Only one skill at a time with cooldowns in between changes. Each skill would need to be derived from said stories, like how William Oh shot down a sun would let him make area of darkness. Both fitting for a hype man\storyteller and usefull in telling said stories

2025-03-05 01:22:48 +0000 UTCHe's a hype man, getting his foundational ability, right? He's gotta get Charm abilities. Shared Hype: When you're telling stories, your audience grows more excited as you do. Your performances are more memorable. Scales with Focus. Sense for Adventure: You get premonitions about where to find the next piece in a puzzle, whether that's another piece of a set, the perfect prize for a vassal, or where to find the next place to build up hype. Scaled with Acuity. Blessing of William Oh: Grant a relic a blessing to help its owner survive their current circumstances. Scales with Focus.

2025-03-05 00:48:26 +0000 UTC__Hearts and Minds__ Your tales have spread far and wide and touched upon the hearts and minds of many varied peoples. By spending 20 charge, for each and any peoples whom your words have ever inspired, be that awe, fear, or anything in between, gain an infinitesimal amount of all stats. You must tell a story for the duration of this ability, lasting for as long as you tell it, and may the ephemeral laws governing the makings of a good tale dictate the ebb, flow, and inevitable conclusion of the ability. __Introducing the Protagonist__ Spend 1-5 charge to share 10-50% of any temporary buff not originating from a relic or relic ability with the protagonist of a story or the subject of a prophesy you are telling. Honestly, i think the names are stronger contenders than the contents of the ability I've tacked on xD

2025-03-04 22:42:21 +0000 UTCNot sure what it would be called (What Is Has Always Been?) or related to, but I like the idea that the *reason* why Jason's hype has been so effective (and people have spread the stories) is due to whatever ability Jason is about to get. Just like how we got flashbacks to similar parties with similar names. It's a time loop (ourobotic coil?)/paradox effect.

2025-03-04 22:01:41 +0000 UTCAs abilities: *Manifesting Destiny* : can be used to either slowly make something retroactively come true (but needs people to believe it and the more outlandish, the longer it needs to charge before it fully sticks) or you can say something that will come true as long as people believe it (for small combat applications it is usually enough for people to know you are capable of the event or that it isn't unlikely). This would tie in to his prophecy ability where people start to believe that what he says will come true so that he can then start to add his own Tale of Destiny to it. *Fatal fate*: causes an event to happen that can either be the surest way for someone to die or can be the fastest way that someone could die from after the moment it has been cast. The first way can take a while but has a far higher chance to succeed while the second one has a far greater chance to fail but is always utterly improbable statistically. Use more charge to cause the ability to use a larger area for the event or if used consecutively can have multiple events happen at the same time possibly having something greater than the sum of its parts (like the really tricky final destination deaths) *His Glory beckons*: Gain a boost in stats and persuasive ability when nearby to the targeted ally or when the targeted ally performs inspiring feats of glory. *His Foes knew no end*: Gain an temporary ability based on the last enemy defeated by William's Oh hand. Said ability is based on what said enemy was most well known for or would be a stereotypical ability for it to have. You also get an vague innate sense what the ability currently would do, who William Oh last defeated and what risks the ability could pose to yourself to use. *The Endless future*: Capture an ability, that and all other previously captured abilities can be released together, at once in a direction of the user's choosing but the distance from the user is the same as when the ability was captured. All released abilities are used up and the user has no further control over them. *Oh no? Oh yes!*: What would William Oh do? Summon an apparition of the William Oh for a duration of X minutes (Focus*something acuity). The abilities of the apparition are based on the local belief of his abilities. William Oh gains a faint idea of what the apparition did after it has vanished. *Fake News*: Deny a fact and it temporarily becomes true. The more people actually believe it, the longer it stays true before reverting.

2025-03-04 21:40:40 +0000 UTCLost hand of the serpent Functions very similarly to William's hand dispel magic move around that kind of stuff but replace the ability that lets him store items in it to an ability that draws him to the other deceivers or their corpses and then let him draw something from the to fuel the hand something I think he might be able to fuel William with like every deceiver Jason finds gives William oh an extra charge. When it comes to his storyteller ability I think having ghostly copies of him being able to be made and sent out and they will tell the story to others as though he was telling the story and then his last ability could be something like everyone he tells a story to is more likely to tell that story to someone else and after reaching a certain threshold the story will become true scaling with acuity so if only a few people hear about him fighting a dragon it could just be a large lizard if everyone in the first five layers hears it then he's fighting alduin equivalently

2025-03-04 21:32:06 +0000 UTCInstead of light, you can do illusion or bedazzlement. And then you can create a storytelling ability that allows him to weave his stories into reality creating area of affect mass illusions. Another ability could be called eyes and ears, which essentially anyone who speaks of a story or tail told by him he can hear and see what they hear and see. Giving him the ability to be a massive one man information network. Another one could be called traveling tail, which essentially allows him to create an illusion based clone, which she can send out to different forms to help spread the tales If there’s any errors, it’s because I’m using Text to Speech on my iPhone

2025-03-04 19:43:35 +0000 UTCIn general he could serve as a communication nexus for the party. Some kind of skill that lets him spend charge to open a comm channel to a party member. I would love for him to act more as the middle man in a game of telephone rather than just being the infrastructure. Like him having to repeat what hes told to the next person and everything that comes out of his mouth interacts with his prophet skills urge to well, prophesize. Example/idea scout sees someone and says “target sighted, 12 o clock”. Jason heres that and passes it along to will as “1 enemy over there waiting for lunchtime at high noon”. The skill could start off as one charge-one message and evolve to 1:(10 or (20). Then it could evolve to a channel with a time duration such as spending a charge to open a channel for 20 hours where everything said is heard by jason and can be spoken back down by jason, allowing for long time frame missions.

2025-03-04 19:38:49 +0000 UTC(Sow the wind.) Stories told by the prophet are harder to forget and those who remember feel less inhibited about sharing. (Reap what is sown.) Spend charge to channel the archetype of sown stories into a party member. This also costs the memory of that archetype to be lost in the story in an expanding ring of influence starting from and excluding the channeler. Potential for end game level power up when you wrap thing up by cashing in on the literal legend of William Oh to literally make him Larger than Life. Potential for hijinks on the road to the end game by creating dead pockets of people who dont remember who all those legends were about when William Ohs party fight and uses this ability nearby. Hed have to resow the legend or wait for it to propogate there naturally from travelers.

2025-03-04 18:30:27 +0000 UTCAlso - that stat growth is moderately insane. Puts Jason at the same tier as Will, but it does make the swapping out of the Enchantresses Third Nipple or whatever much more of a gamble - it _might_ be worth playing that up more in that chapter or in the one where the class is revealed. Something like Jason musing to himself that of the available offerings it's the weakest, that sort of thing.

2025-03-04 18:28:04 +0000 UTCPhantom Mouth. User can create an intangible, invisible mouth with which to utter prophecies. Prophecies can only be (mechanic) in the future, and limited to (mechanic) targets. Prophecies must be achievable by a Climber of Jason's level. For example, Jason could say "Your next attack will miss me and strike you in the tits", that sort of thing.

2025-03-04 18:21:15 +0000 UTCLet me give you a hand: Jason can temporarily sacrifice the usage of his left hand and any Relics he is holding in said hand to bestow there effects on another/ Will. (it becomes etherial but still visable. This would include a ring and any weapon he is holding in that hand) Would let Jason allow Will to stack even more crazy effects with phantom hand. Let him speak/Don't shoot the messenger: When giving a prophecy/speaking Jason gains a massive boost to resistance and/or reverse ring of accuracy effect to projectiles targeting him. Basically makes him hard to kill or harm mid speech. Hand of the End: Offensive ability. Summon a massive phantom hand to smash down on opponents. For the storytelling buff. Idea 1: Aura. When Jason is on the same floor/close by, people who believe in the stories of William Oh will give of an Aura that will boost Will and any of his party members/people mentioned in the stories. The larger the concentration of people (such as a tavern where the stories are spread the most) the stronger the effect and range. It helps spread the legend as well since Will would do crazier things the closer he is to a group of people that are able to see him due to getting s buff from it. 2: boost people who work with Will. Similar to the priests ability for people who are believers from the water floor. Alternatively it could work on people that are mentioned in a prophecy who would help Will. Will is about to be stabbed from behind? Some random climber who see's this happening gets a sudden boost that allows him to give Will just enough help. Knowledge of the ability becomes a legend on its own where people know that if they receive the random buff they will come up in the next story/were the ones mentioned in the latest one. Charge wise, it could potentially be a pre charge ability since Jason wouldn't be able to control it. All he can do is blindly invest charge knowing it will give someone a boost when needed.

2025-03-04 17:49:24 +0000 UTCDefinitely some buff to stats based on what Jason is able to convince people to believe about William. Maybe even an ability to use abilities that Jason can convince William has. Another paradigm that would be fascinating to explore is a build around Jason being able to convince people of things and then make that reality.

2025-03-04 17:41:19 +0000 UTCWe still want him to be a hype man, but also some kind of mage. So let's think of something that will play on this. Familiar Face - 'Is something in the air?' People will feel a strange sense of familiarity or dread when he's around. (Passive ability) This is a charm-based ability. This will confuse enemies and boost morale. The kind of stuff that will evolve into getting armies to shit themselves or entertain his crazy stories, also fits with the theme of the Prophet of The End. Space Pocket - Jason summons parts (Phantom Hand, Phantom Eye...) of William Oh. There can be multiple at once. Scales with focus and Acuity. And maybe some sort of utility spell that can be turned into a weapon if used wih the right relic?

2025-03-04 17:39:12 +0000 UTCI like prophet of the end quite a bit. Feel like there should be at least one ability on the list that allows for more proactive divination. Maybe it's hype man flavored and he has to express his divination as a PR sound bite.

2025-03-04 17:30:44 +0000 UTCHere's a Rumour - 5 Charge, charms all those who hear you, to spread a message/rumour, any charmed will attempt to charm another, spreading the effect and message, causing a never ending cycle, if undetected. Resistble, effects scale with focus or acuity. So its a mass charming ability that auto charms the nearest person to spread any message jason wants, like how jason used a prophecy to tip off Will, it can be used similarly to communicate between floors, or spread propaganda, or just jason playing around. Possible upgrades could have the rumours debuff any those hear them when facing William Oh, or increase favourabiliy. Phantom Whispers - 1 Charge conjur a Ethereal Mouth, any thoughts projected will pass through the mouth in any type of sound it wants. It has a passive charm effect where listeners won't question where the voice is coming from or what's it saying. Scales with Focus A very deciever/infiltrator like ability that uses a phantom somehow, rounds his primary abilities up. He can use it to imitate commanders voices and give false orders, whisper into someone's ears as they are fighting to throw them off, spread rumours more effectively, and even add cool sound effects or music when he tells his stories, any sounds he can think of his mouth will replicate it. He can get creative and use monster sounds or armies marching to scare people off, or synergize with any other voice/charm ability

2025-03-04 17:12:20 +0000 UTCWell there are two ways i can see to make a story teller ability based on what exists so far. The first I would call "Tallest Teller of Tales". This would leverage the story to make Will more powerful and thus empower the storyteller. I think this would be a reciprocal diminishing effect where Jason would give will stats based on the difference between reality and the tale, then harvest a percentage of the difference as a stat growth for himself, i.e. Jason says Will is a 25 ft tall giant that eats steel and shits nails, people believe it is so and think he has a strength and constitution score of 80. Say Will has a strength of 30 unmodified, Will gets a percent of that (say 10% for ease of calculation) based on the difference or 5 extra strength and Jason harvests 10% for himself (rounding up of course) giving Will 4 more strength and Jason 1 more strength. In theory this could work for any tale that Jason spins to improve Will's prestige. The second option I would call "Death had a near Will Oh Once". This version would lean away from the purely mechanical aspect of the system and be geared to take advantage of the vagaries of anything mechanistic that interacts with the real world. It would act like a stacking luck buff on everything Will does so that the impossible becomes improbable and the improbable becomes inevitable. It would function kinda like a reservoir where Will's luck becomes worse the more the effect triggers until it is actively harmful. As a benefit to Jason, the effect would pull luck from Will's pool to keep him safe at a higher rate and better return so the storyteller is protected from misfortune. Part of refilling the pool would involve telling Chuck Norris style jokes about Will, but the more people believe that the story may be true and not bull, the faster the pool fills. I think one of the problems with the storyteller concept is that the ability must have some tangible reward for Will while also providing a real benefit to Jason as one of his core abilities.

2025-03-04 17:07:08 +0000 UTCSo for primaries I am thinkjng something like. Aspect of the Tree of Empires, which gives Jason passive bonuses when delivering Prophecies (Hype stories, bard type ability that makes them grab attention and stick in people'shead even better), and Will when carrying them out (like has been happening so far, but basically now when he starts doing the real version of what Jason predicted he gets bonuses to it). Scales with acuity. Upgrades cause it to scale with how widespread/viral the story goes, tack on permanent bonuses to both(will and jason) when prophecies are fulfilled, give permanent bonuses to abilities when the cumulative legend reaches certain thresholds (like extra upgrade slots for abilities, I still think sourdough is underwhelming). The basic idea is that you have the growth and destiny aspects of the tree which become self reinforcing as the legend, glory, and myth of William Ohh grows. Initially the bonuses are really small but as the stories spread, prophecies get fulfilled, the ability gets upgraded, appropriate relics are slotted, and "the legend of william oh" spreads and grows the feedback loop gets crazy. Ultimately its a hyperscaling buff ability that starts small and ends big, focused primarily on will with some bonuses to jason, and a limited ability to affect the world and everyone (at the high end). Second Primary is tougher Legends Never Die (Based of Immortal Serpent/William Ohh). "Half My Class is about Hyping Up William Ohh the other half is about surviving the aftermath of doing so." Basically improved reflexes, toughness and healing. Serpent's Spite. A debuff ability that is more focused and powerful than the Aspect of the tree, leans into stacking items that can empower buffs and debuffs (like the Granesh Guy), scales with focus. Initially it is debilitating poison, but gets more metaphysical as it gets upgraded, eventually gets stronger when debuffing people who have "wronged" you, and can be deployed remotely to people William Ohh is fighting (at heavy cost and cooldown). are the best options I can think of. I also really like some sort of streamer option either as a secondary ability or a second primary but can't think of anything too specific.

He should have a charge based ability that causes people either to focus on him when he prophesies or to focus on talking to each other about what he said so he can slip away. He should have a passive like plot armor, where he gets a percentage of wills resistance as his representative. It'd be funny if he had some sort of mode where he gets really tall and strong (after eating stew?) So that he does exactly what will told him to do early on. 2025-03-04 16:33:44 +0000 UTCI kind of think he needs to be a livestreamer. Tree of Glory(eventually becomes empire of glory) - grow a tree that functions as a broadcaster, let's the caster dump information into the system notifications of anybody in range. Broadcast range scales with focus, upgrades will eventually let trees in range of each other network together and the type/amount data sharable broadens, from text to audio to video. Starts as a little intra party chat room, ends as a multi-floor propaganda distributor. Gifts of Gab - When people actively listen to Jason talk and also feel positively disposed towards him he generates fractional charge or a buff or both. The idea of this is conceived as a magical parallel to youtube adsense payouts, some absolutely tiny and pointless advantage that becomes meaningful at scale. Major upgrades would expand on the advantages, give you a better rate of return and allow some of those advantages to be given to other people. If Jason get's an upgrade to shift those benefits onto others he should lose them when he does so, the spotlight isn't shared. This ability should do absolutely nothing to make Jason more likable. Generally I don't think he should have any mind affecting abilities or supernatural charisma. The charisma should be all natural.

2025-03-04 16:27:32 +0000 UTCGlory Eagle makes me think of a Glory Hunter. Someone who follows a football team because they are successful, until they fail and then they move onto another successful team to support. With that in mind, I’d say it goes with Glory But also shadow (or something darker at least), because it’s a hollow kind of glory? Just random thoughts, hope it can help!

2025-03-04 16:26:37 +0000 UTCAspect of the Myth: Using a charge he can temporarily convert this ability into a passive ability based on a character from a story that he has spread, the greater the spread of the story the stronger its possible effect. However the ability is based on what the general consensus of the character's ability is, so Will's Aspect of the Goat could be misunderstood as him being slippery like an eel rather than the strong traversal ability it actually is.

2025-03-04 16:26:10 +0000 UTCSince he’s a hype class and has literally used Will’s hand - an ability called Put Your Hands Up (for Detroit) Could either be for bluffing to get past enemies (or something around police, put your hands up etc) Or Like when an MC tells the audience to put their hands up when building hype for the music, a buff on allies to boost energy (charge) levels

2025-03-04 16:23:01 +0000 UTCI like the tree of Empires one the most. We saw the Granesh prophet have a similar ability to award stats but it seems better if the stats grow by being nourished by a prophecy. Then the excess gets awarded out based on contributions towards the prophecy. Maybe call it Seed of Growth or something.

2025-03-04 16:22:46 +0000 UTCHow about Prophet of the Eschaton? Means basically the same thing but imo sounds cooler. As for the Glory Eagle, it makes me think of Roman symbology - maybe tag it with Imperium, and imo Glory/Imperium could lead to propaganda style abilities. Ex: a Big Lie, where you say something so ridiculous that reality itself believes you for a moment Ex: a Wag the Dog style buff / debuff where you can change someone's behavior if enough people believe that's how they behave (e.g, make your enemies incompetent by spreading tales of their incompetence)

2025-03-04 16:17:35 +0000 UTCIf you combine the light with the myth you could have him be able to summon lifelike illusions of the most popular myth's he's told. Or maybe just straight summoning phantom legends like will has a phantom hand

2025-03-04 16:16:05 +0000 UTCEpic Plot Twist: Has unexpected results… (1 Charge) My thinking is it can impact things that reenforce Jasons story’s, “William Oh Never Gets Hit” make arrows miss for a brief time. Maybe it could have a more powerful effect depending on the amount of people who believe it too, so as people have seen William Oh fly if he said it that way he’d be able to fly for a set time but the opposite also happens and if no one believes it the effect is almost useless.

2025-03-04 16:15:18 +0000 UTCI love that you've already set up the narrative framework of causality manipulation via that support that could change supplies. For the tree ability how about something that lets them choose a different branch of events? Option 1. Limited prophecy to see the branches and which one to choose (similar to what he's already doing but with more choosing). Option 2 could be more defensive and retrospective -- a 3 second hop on another branch causality timer so if he is killed he can jump back and move to a different path as long as he has charges (Called leaf me alone of course). Option 3: once a day he can commune with the trees or other vegetation to predict the weather (similar to DND druid craft)

2025-03-04 16:14:49 +0000 UTCTree of Empires (Destiny, Growth, Empire): Jason may invest his stats into a prophecy about William or another of the retinue. When the prophecy is fulfilled the stats invested are released back to Jason and a bonus amount of those stats are awarded to all involved in the prophecy. Glory Eagle (Glory,Light(maybe Celestial)): Jason summons a glowing avater in the image of William Oh as a stand! Allies who look upon it are buffed, enemies debuffed. Minor abilities to interact with the world like Williams ghost hand. William Ohs left hand (Myth, Relic): Some interaction with Williams own abilities? Borrow Williams gear invested in his hand. Buff Williams abilities. Add mythylogical prophecy to a relic that awakens a pseudo legendary ability with a relic.

2025-03-04 16:14:37 +0000 UTCEchoes of the End – Jason’s words gain a supernatural weight. If he convinces someone that something will happen, reality subtly tilts to make it more likely. (Focus + Acuity-based. More effective when spoken to large crowds.) Eagle's Resurgence – this ability could let Jason charm, seize control of, or enrage enemy summons, golem like constructs, or pets/conscripts resulting in him bending them to his will, allowing them free choice or removing their ability to only target enemies . You could probably use chatgpt or something similar for quicker/easier recommendations

2025-03-04 16:13:23 +0000 UTCThe more i think about it, William's hand should really warp the class. Maybe instead of a bardic support class, it's more of a charisma-based infiltrator/debuffer. He goes behind enemy lines and whispers insidious truths about their demise at the hands of WillOh, poisoning their psyche until they can't imagine victory. Skills that help him spread rumors, stay undetected, and poison the enemy mental.

2025-03-04 16:12:15 +0000 UTCFor his ability, now that he's with William, have his frustrating ass prophecies switch around, so now he's predicting what William's enemies are doing (in cryptic hyperbole)

2025-03-04 16:06:05 +0000 UTCI think he should have an Ability called "Raise Your Left Hand" that in exchange for giving up use of his physical left hand, gives him the ability impart permanent (or semi-permanent) skills/stats to his metaphorical left hands (i.e., followers he recruits into the budding religion centered on Will). I think a skill like that could lead to all sorts unfair power multiplier BS that we love to see. For example, what if another part of will gets cut off and Jason uses it as a sacrifice, allowing him to pass on whatever abilities Will currently has slotted to all of his Left Hands? I think that would lead to all sorts of hijinks. Edit: Thinking about the example I gave, that would also give Will a huge motivation to oversee and protect his Will-ing followers (hehe), since they would represent a HUGE weakness. All his enemies would have to do is capture one of them to know what build Will was currently using. So that would be a bit of a limiting factor to scale back the OP-ness.

2025-03-04 16:05:44 +0000 UTCTurn narrative force into a tangible power, if he tells a story about will and people believe it he can stockpile that "belief" and use it to tell a "true" story that uses that belief to become true, scaling off acuity for how long it can be, at first only a single word with a small effect and going up from there.

2025-03-04 16:04:31 +0000 UTCFor the glory eagle replace light with assiduity, just for the sheer number of people who will have to look it up. Assiduity definition: constant or close attention to what one is doing. This would allow for something like the ability to buff all the individual projectiles William launches from his hand with a different buff optimized for the opponents that the projectiles will hit. I.e. the ability: Serene hunter's focus - The ability to track all observable objects and their trajectories and target them with abilities regardless of their distance or obstructions. For an ability from William Oh's left hand: Phantasmal Slap - 1 charge - Deal ethereal and physical damage based on your resistance, acuity, and strength, and their fear of William Oh. Not sure I like that slap, but it'd be funny and would turn Jason into a Nuker.

2025-03-04 16:04:19 +0000 UTCTruth is Stranger than Fiction The more outlandish your claims of William Oh and his followers deeds, the more likely people are to believe them. This effect is magnified by how close the actual events and your retelling align. Every retelling of this story by a third party provides a minuscule amount of faith that can be used to preform a miracle in William Oh's name.

2025-03-04 16:04:13 +0000 UTCCould make the core abilities of the class a kind of Bard/chanter/ritual caster. I'm thinking powerful buff effects for Will and his team that last while Jason is actively storytelling/hyping. Maybe scales with who and/or how many people hear him. Could be very similar to the high ranking support member of granesh we just met on floor 6.

2025-03-04 16:02:04 +0000 UTCRe the Glory Eagle , maybe something alluding to the Blood Eagle, the viking execution method. Maybe Jason can absorb damage from allies near him that then lets him fly on bloody golden wings when activated, the more damage the faster he flies.

2025-03-04 16:01:27 +0000 UTCInstead of Prophet of the End, since he's using William's hand, why not Prophet of the Serpent or Ouroborus' Prophet? For Glory Eagle, instead of Light, maybe Air or Wind? Either one probably makes sense given that he uses his breath to speak.

2025-03-04 16:00:17 +0000 UTCI think any kind of storytelling ability could siphon a fraction of a fraction of stats down to Jason and William from anyone who buys in to the story. Not enough to be particularly noticeable to anyone but the most powerful climbers but over time a significant buff to Jason/Will's power. Then you get the fun side effect of William suddenly having more stats than he can account for and eventually some Lord puzzling out why their acuity is down a single point for no reason.

2025-03-04 15:59:10 +0000 UTCFor Abilities he actually takes i think it should fit with his original desire of being a Hype-man, so a way of making his stories spwouldi think would be something he would choose. Or a way since he is tied to Will now through his hand to see his exploits (current and future) specifically so he can craft stories?

2025-03-04 15:57:57 +0000 UTCA semi-prophetic ability that lets Jason tell a story involving William Oh. Depending on it's popularity, how many people actually believe it, and how outlandish the story is, it comes true. A semi self fulfilling prophecy kind of ability.

2025-03-04 15:57:33 +0000 UTCSince there's already the Norse stuff going on with Oroborus maybe have Jason allude to Níðhöggr, The Dragon that rests at the root of the Yggdrasil, The World Tree. Maybe an ability to build up a "Legend Meter" made of Will's memetic character that only Jason can perceive and that Jason can activate to do either psychic damage or a harmless frightening or awe inspiring debuff. Something like "echoes of the Nidhogg's Hiss" and the flavor text allude to the words climbing the tree. Something like that.

2025-03-04 15:51:48 +0000 UTCOddly, I looked at Glory Eagle, and suddenly had a thought... there are a number of societies that associate ravens with the sun mythically, but obviously also death. 2025-03-04 15:50:57 +0000 UTCAlso, I think the Tree of Empires ability should be something to do with telling stories and influencing fate to follow those events, potentially in a somewhat monkey's paw sort of way but still subtly influencing the future so that things he says now and spends a charge on are more likely to happen somehow. Would effectively make him more of an active member and less of a passive observer in his own role as the Prophet
