Has been a Police Officer for the last 30 years, and she is due to retire this year.
Has served in the Metropolitan Police throughout.
Highly dedicated and ambitious, she rose the ranks and within 10 years was promoted to Detective Inspector.
In 2005 she was awarded the Queens Police Medal for outstanding bravery and dedication to duty when she helped many victims during the London bombings of that year. She was on the Underground (subway) when the train she was on was attacked. Despite suffering injuries herself she walked through carriages giving first aid and comfort to many.
In 2020 she was promoted to Detective Chief Superintendent and transferred to Tower Hamlets Police District.
She is the senior detective and is currently based in the Whitechapel division.
The area is known for the Jack The Ripper murders in 1888
2023 has been a reasonably uneventful year thus far. And as this is her final year in service, DCS Thomas is hoping to keep it that way, although she is hoping to go out on a bang.
At present there is nothing to suspect that the female found dead in the street is an indicator of what is to come.
The initial assumption of the first officers on the scene is that she was drunk, passed out, and asphyxiated on her vomit.
DCS Thomas doesn't share that opinion and suspects foul play.

Although this is a fictional character, part of her story (the London Bombings) is based on an ex-colleague of mine who was on the way to work on the underground at the time of the attacks. She didn't get a QPM but she did get an MBE)
