I don't have a whole lot fleshed out on this, and I know this is pretty late, but I really like the idea of Calvin making some sort of drugs out of Abyssal Alchemy.

Licking frogs that excrete a hallucinogenic. Call em dream frogs or something. I just think it would be amusing if Kala was sitting at dinner with her parents and randomly pulls a frog out of her bag, licks it while it squirms around, then puts it back like it's a completely normal thing to do.

Hadrian Thistle: Oil from this plant causes hallucinations and feelings of connectedness with the world. Side effects include feeling empty and alone when not on the drug. Moon Milk: drug gives you lucid dreams that let you live another life while asleep that is most often better than your own life, causes insomnia, feelings of emptiness, and sometimes coma. The alternate realities may in fact be real. Cuddle Bug: drug is actually a symbiotic relationship with a parasite. The bug gives advice, good feelings, and generally better health, but reduces inhibitions, inflates ego, eats your bent, and may in fact be trying to have you get eaten by another animal to spread.
