“Ok then.” He says as he slowly gets up.
“While I’m sure you’ve been trained well in the methods of combat, to implement and use your skills will be the true test. Are you ready for me to explain it all?"
Tilly sterns her face and nods her head.
“ Good! Then let us begin with the very basics that I’m sure you already know, but will go over just for clarity’s sake. First is your health, this is your body’s ability to function and survive. It’s easy to picture this as a points system called HP. When you take damage your HP will go down meaning you are closer to death. You look decently healthy, 20 HP points seems like about right.
Next is your offensive ability or Attack which is often shortened to ATK. This is the damage you inflict to an enemy when battling it. if your ATK is high enough you will generally beat your foe in one hit, if not your foe will be positioned to strike you back assuming they didn’t attack first. With that sharp iron sword in hand I’d estimate your ATK at 10.
Then there is Defensive might or DEF. This stat reduces the damage you receive from incoming attacks. With your armor this stat is considerably high which will put you at quite the advantage young knight. I would rate your natural defense at about a 2 but that armor easily raises you to a 10.
Then there is speed or SPD for those who want to say it fast. This stat contributes to who attacks first in combat but also retreat maneuvers. If your SPD is higher than your foes you will strike first in combat and successfully be able to retreat from battles you want to avoid. Unfortunately with all the metal that weighs us down knights like us average lower Speed stats then most, I’d estimate yours at a 7
Then there is Charm, sometimes referred to as Charisma this stat determines your likelihood to win over folks in conversation or befriend foes before engaging in combat. I can already tell this is a low stat for you, 5.
There is also faith, as a knight implored in the service of a kingdom you undoubtedly know afew miracles which can be cast outside of combat to aid you on your journey at the cost of your faith energy. You needn't fear though as faith energy restores after rest. Not a strong believer are you? I’m only sensing 4 faith from you young knight.
Magic works much the same way as faith, allowing one to cast spells at the most of their mana energy, I don’t really sense any magical aptitude from you so I will save us some time and leave it at that.”
The Ex-knight walks around the corner of the building
“Now, let’s go through an encounter” he says as he approaches a trash canister, “prepare yourself young knight.” He says as he kicks the canister with gusto.
From out of the trash a big fat raccoonula hops out, fanning its body in an aggressive display it shows its maw at you and hisses.
“Now, normally when you encounter a possible enemy you're given the choice between fighting, fleeing or befriending. Seeing as this is a feral creature of the night let’s assume that you choose to fight. When one chooses to fight they have a short period of time to choose their fighting tactic, a simple 'Attack' uses one’s speed to select attack order and if attacked uses half the def stat. 'Attack defensively' has the opposite effect, your Def stat is used at its max when receiving damage but the careful and decisive movements mean your speed is halved, which will usually result in taking a hit before dishing one out."
Tilly grasps her sword and stands ready. The beast's ready's its body.
"this battle will be a 'Attack' one."
Tilly, steps forward and swings her sword, the Raccoonula pounces, fangs eager for blood, and in a quick decisive slice the beast of the night is sliced in half, its vile blood splatting on the ground.
"Very good, as your Speed was a 7 over the rodents 5 you were able to strike first. with an attack of 10 you easily able to end the beasts life. If it did manage to strike you your 10 Def would reduce its incoming attack of 6 to one damage or if you attacked it defensively it would deal none. If you had wanted to flee your 7 speed would have allowed you as the Raccoonula's speed was only a 5."
Tilly and hopefully you the player now understand combat completely.
"Now for Navigation prompts and inventory. When navigating you will sometimes be given the need to stop and assess yourself, this will usually be best when an item in your inventory or a usable miracle are options for you. Currently your inventory consists of '10 coins' a 'Knights pass' and a Bagel"
"Interesting." he says as he looks through your stuff.
Tilly grabs her satchel back, annoyed and less amused.
"Well, I do believe that covers everything, on your way young knight, good will to you!" Ex-knight proclaims as he lifts his sword high with Gusto!
