K'wyde Quest P2: Tilly

A TaDa for Tilly!

Your character is Tilly. A young inexperienced knight of the impoverished kingdom of Omeoet, sworn from birth to uphold the honor of her noble bloodline by loyally serving the lord and land with her life. Unfortunately in a kingdom with little wealth, Tilly, a public servant, is left very little in her spending budget. Which is basically how she ended up becoming a repeat customer in a tavern in the seedier side of the kingdom. At a little less than half her day's food budget she can’t complain that the price isn't right (even if you couldn’t place what kind of animal you just ate). Stepping out from the Mantum Mantis Tilly sighed, while her belly may have been full enough to keep her going until the end of the day her sense of pride was more than a little bruised. Growing up hearing her grandfather regial her with tales of his grand acts of servitude and noble deeds had bestowed a expectation that when it was her time to take up the mantle of knighthood that she would be able to do so meaningfully, alas, such pride was a loss to have these days as it only made the days feel wasted. The knights of the kingdom had all been tasked with garnering income for the crown, weather that be through taxing smaller misdemeanours, renting themselves out to wealthy noblemen, on the rare occasion other kingdoms, or collecting the bounties listed on the countryside wanted board. The ladder being Tilly’s preferred method as at least some sense of action could come from chasing down criminals, if any would run, unfortunately the few that could be found in the kingdom always seemed to be a lethargic bunch so even this proved quite boring for Tilly’s tastes. She had half a mind to simply run out into the world, embody the fool and throw caution to the wind and go explore. Maybe she’s come across some bandits, maybe the rumours of a fledgling dragon in the mountains are true and their gold could save the kingdom, maybe her true love is just outside the kingdom, rippling muscles, rose in teeth holding back sweet nothings he could whisper into her…

Tilly blushed as she walked forward, outside the tavern the road split.

To her left was the road that led to the centre of town, the bounty board awaits there for her usual visit. High priced rewards listed for criminals, mystic or troublesome beasts and wanted treasures. To the right the outer limits of the kingdom, a vast clearing with paths that lead to neighbouring villages, mountain side trails and romantic destinations, in the kingdom heyday the knights would frequently clear these areas of monsters and trouble makers, alas it has become somewhat unattended these days detering visitors. And behind her the door to the Mantum Mantis still stood open… she did still have coins in her wallet.
