this literally made my day I'm so happy y'all loved the album so much !! I discovered Chappell over a year ago from now by getting naked in Manhattan in my recommend songs on spotify and I instantly fell absolutely in love with it. it genuinely felt like a song that was made for me and my music taste, personality and everything and I had been looking for music like it for some time before and finally found that with Chappell especially when I went to listen to the album when it released. ive been following her and obsessing over her for so long now and it feels so surreal the amount of quick success she has gotten in such a short time. when I found her she was so small, given she still had a couple million streams on songs but literally no one knew who she was if you weren't a big fan already and to see her growth in real time from before and the incredible after is so insane and I feel so special to have gone on this journey with her I feel like she really isn't my little secret anymore and I couldn't be happier for her !! okay im done now I guess my love for Chappell just makes me wanna write a paragraph lol. love your videos btw y'all are literally my favorite music related channel and one of the only reacting channels I will consistely watch <3

Chappell was originally signed by Atlanta records while in high school. She moved to cali and eventually was dropped from the label apparently her music wasn’t doing big enough numbers. So she moved back home where she worked in a coffee shop. but around 2020 she decided she wanted to give it another shot . So she moved back to Cali to pursue music where she met Dan nigro and they made the album. Now she’s 26 years old and her career has finally skyrocketed 🙂. Im pretty sure she wrote California after she was dropped.

Especially Notes On a Conditional Form maybe since George did so much of the production on that, and it’s got such a different vibe compared to their other stuff. Album wise I don’t know if it’s the most cohesive piece of work but there are some amazing songs on it. Been loving your videos I love how positive and open minded you guys are with new music it’s really uplifting. Wanna know if you guys have listened to any of The 1975 and if you haven’t you should do a reaction to one of their albums. Would recommend A Brief Enquiry or Funny in a Foreign Language. If you like the humor in Chappell’s lyrics I think you’d really appreciate their lyricism. They’re very clever song writers and utilize a lot of humor, parody, wit and self-reference in their lyrics. Charli’s parter George Daniel who did some of the production on BRAT is also the drummer for the band, and does a lot of their production. The songs Apple and Talk Talk on BRAT have a very similar production vibe to some of The 1975s stuff, as they’re more indie pop and rock than electronic, although they do some electronic influences. Overall I think their genre is quite hard to define as they often explore a lot of different sounds in their music which I love, but they have a very defined lyric style that’s so easy to pick out. They tend to have a distinctive sound from their debut album that they often fall back on, which is an indie pop 80s coming of age movie soundtrack style of song. You might already be fans but if not they’re so worth a listen.

She was actually dropped from her label after Pink Pony Club was released in 2020. She released some of these songs independently before signing with another label and releasing this album. She was an opener for Olivia Rodrigo’s tour which helped her rise and that’s part of the reason why this album was a slow hit.
