Which style to use?

I'm testing different style to draw trees, vegetation and other assets in my maps.

Classic style is the most used, not only by me, but there are at least two other ways in which we can draw some elements, here I show you two.

Realistic is performed using special brush in Photoshop, the final effect is very good, the only problem is that it's not easy to show lineart for black & white version of the maps.

Low poly style is an idea that came to me lately, I'd like to try a map with this style and I think I'll release a simple and free map soon, to receive feedback.

What do you think?
Are there any other ways?

Obviously I talk about drawing by hand, not with software using premade tiles or similar.

Great answers Cari Most, thank you. I agreed with all!

Low Poly Pros: - Distinctive and unique style. - High level of abstraction offers high versatility. Low Poly Cons: - Can be just as cluttered as Realistic style in small, detailed areas. - Will not mesh well with other campaign maps. - Hard to make distinctive, unique maps when you have so few features you can depict.

Classic Pros: - Everyone uses it, meaning maps from multiple creators go well together in a campaign. - It's popular. - Good level of abstraction, just enough to allow interpretation/modification. Classic Cons: - Everyone Uses it. Your maps are less distinctive. Realistic Pros: - Can look really, really good. - Undeserved, hungry niche market. Realistic Cons: - Niche Market. - Little room for imagination and mental texturing/variations. - Textures can get too busy and too repetitive very quickly.

I like Classic the most of these options

I will draw a simple wilderness map and release it in all 3 styles, to see the difference

I really like the current style. Realistic trees, why not? Let's see how it fits with the rest of the elements. As for low poly, I'm not sure about that, seems too far from your current map style.

This should have been a poll? If not, it's a good way to force some comment! I do not prefer too realistic myself, of those posted here the classic one is closest to my liking. Although it would be cool to see a map / or alternative with low poly version :D
