Development Update #30
Added 2019-03-10 11:00:48 +0000 UTCI've been sick the past week so I'm a little behind on the previews and polls for this month here on Patreon. I'll make up for it in the coming days and luckily the development of SL doesn't seem to have been impacted overly much.
In the past two weeks or so, the workstation arrived and after setting everything up I've been using it to create the renders for v0.18. I'm very happy with the new hardware. It's much faster than the laptop and eGPU I've been using before and also much more stable. Using the Iray viewport preview caused a kernel panic before and took more than a minute to actually function, now it's a matter of seconds.
The case, a be quiet! Dark Base Pro, is simply great (not only in size). I've never had a PC as silent as this one. Could be that I've always bought crap cases and noisy components before, but I'm happy nonetheless.
I had an old GeForce 760 card lying around which is now powering my screen, so all memory is available for the Titan Xp to render scenes. In the future I'm planning on replacing the 760 with a brand-new Nvidia GeForce RTX to further slash render times.
As for the specs of the new workstation, they're as follows:

nice, choice of set up rendering on AMD ryzen is really quick. i rendered 30 second rotation scene when i had a 1800x. it didnt take me long at all to render if i remember correctly took 2 hours max
