Question about a Sea Witch

I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask if anyone's seen the new 'Little Mermaid' movie? I'm both sorry and relieved to be at a point in my life where I'm no longer excited by upcoming movies; on the one hand going to the movies was always a thrill as a kid...on the bigger hand getting over the cinematic hype and drama is a weight lifted from my shoulders I can only compare to giving Talula a piggyback ride :D
On top of that I have even less interest in the live-action Disney reboots. I think the last one I saw was 'Aladdin' and I damn near walked out of the theater. Apologies if any of you enjoyed that one but these Disney reimaginings is yet another board I cannot find the strength or desire to get on.
Yet I was curious, as I'm sure many of us in our bbw appreciation underground were, about the portrayal of the new Ursula. I suspect some of you went to see the movie JUST for that scene.
My question is simply this: Was the new portrayal worth seeing? Was this new body language a worthy contender or does Pat Carroll leave it in the aquatic dust?
I think I'm crotchety and cynical enough to know the answer but I'm legitimately curious to hear everyone's thoughts. If nothing else hopefully it'll spark some interesting conversation.

2023-06-13 00:45:25 +0000 UTCyeah I don't blame ya on the remakes, but I do think A HandFul of them are ok to Great! Mainly the Jungle book and Pete's Dragon are my 2 and only Faves. and I hear the Aladdin, Cinderella and the new little mermaid are decent at the very least.
