halfway through this bookclub, but I am so curious how he's gonna tie in these "side stories" best way i can word them into the greater story we're so invested in

Itโ€™s so interesting because after Iโ€™m done reading those types of scenes I really appreciate them! It moves me and the overall feeling and takeaway is definitely achieved. It just feels dragged out during it ๐Ÿ˜†

see i am just different, I think Sanderson writes great fight scenes. I think whether you like those long combat sequences or not just depends on what you like to read! I have heard many opinions with different people who picked each of three main characters as their 'favorite', so its always interesting to hear different perspectives from new readers. I personally enjoy the Szeth chapters. They establish how dangerous he is, and then double and triple down on it.

I'm glad you mentioned your confusion after the first interlude, because I joined pretty late on this book, and I was like, "Am I supposed to know what's going on here?" ๐Ÿ˜… I'm with you on Szeth's fight scene. I was thinking part-way through that okay, the author is just establishing again that Szeth is super strong and shouldn't be blamed for his killings because he's beholden to someone else's will and he hates himself for it. I'm not really entertained by this fight-writing, but I guess other readers enjoy it. I agree with you that it was too drawn-out with filler for my liking, but I get that Sanderson had to make that interlude worth including. I think I'm just not the target audience. At least I had the benefit of having it read to me so I could do other things at the same time lol. Thank you so much for making the time and effort to get this reading to us! I know you have a lot more pressing things on your mind and schedule right now.

Hiyahoyhoy

Excited to jump back into book club!
