Fight

Ya know... I've been meaning to practice more fight scene drawing. I've had worse ideas than just drawing Cass doing some MMA stuff.

I've included one of my anatomy study pages here, too, where you can see how some tracing is utilized to help study a pose. I wouldn't want to use tracing in any paid job or even post on social media. Photo tracing is purely a learning tool for me. But even in studying by tracing, you need to understand the underlying anatomy; otherwise, you could get mixed up by surface details or obscured parts of the photo.

I still need to do more studying. I haven't been able to do live drawing since the pandemic, and it'd be nice to get back into it and use some of the things I've learned over the last few years.

I think something that'd help with studies is contextualizing in a short fully finished project. Nothing extensive, but maybe something 2-4 pages (setup/scenario/context, the fight itself, ending) that would both allow you to experiment and explore, but also force you to commit to design choices and reward you with a finished portfolio piece. A narrative would also contextualize your choreography choices, so it isn't just "what looks cool," but "what makes sense for this character in this scenario." As for story ideas: - Cass in the gym with Steph, having a frustration moment over some aspect of her past. - Cass on the streets. Either the same narrative thrust as the gym idea, or maybe the antagonist being stronger than anticipated and forcing her to resort to more brutality than intented, which leaves her shaken (maybe she's fighting Lady Shiva, or Shiva intervenes from afar) These are cool, however, and I'd love to see where you take this.

Very Cool.
