SAFE workers
Added 2024-05-22 10:00:06 +0000 UTCSo here I am, doing a little more world-building-conceptual stuff for SAFE. Have I mentioned the title? SAFE stands for the Study of Anomalous Friendly Entities. It's a division within a much larger organization that may or may not resemble the SCP Organization.
Within SAFE, you have characters like Nathan and Isabelle taking care of characters like the Analog Horror Girl or Penelope. For the most part, I don't actually see it as an action-heavy setting. But I wanted to spend some time developing the stuff that this fictional organization would use to keep people secure.
My favorite hypothetical technology is the Dimensional Choke or the Probability Condensor. I haven't settled on a name yet, but the idea is that it can be attached to conventional firearms, allowing them to deal with extradimensional threats that exist on parallel dimensions.
I've spent some time coming up with the overall aesthetics, and I've settled on "Cassette Futurism." The battery pack takes a lot of obvious inspiration from the walkman. There are some story reasons for why everything is very 80s electronics in this setting, and I'm excited to share more of that later. But for once, I don't want to completely spoil the surprise. It's just going to have to be ready when it's ready.
