Okay, stick with me here. Here’s some more Star Trek fan art. If Star Trek Prodigy, the new kids cartoon on Nicklelodeon, continues to be good after it’s strong start, there’s a good chance I’ll be drawing a LOT of Star Trek fanart in the near future. I mean… there’s still some characters from Lower Decks I need to draw. But first off, Gwyn left an impression on me. She’s basically an Elf that somehow got lost in Star Trek and that’s pretty great. It adds to the fantasy feel of the new setting and show.

Star Trek is a franchise that probably means more to me than DC comics, Cassandra Cain included. That might come across as a surprise since there’s very little fan art I do for Star Trek. But basically, before the past couple years, there was never a proper Star Trek cartoon. I’m not a big fan of making caricatures of real life actors. It’s a pretty tricky thing to do and it requires an entire skillset that is alien to me. Meanwhile, the cartoons just let me draw cool aliens and they don’t have to look perfectly human and it’s great.

I HAVE CONSIDERED THIS BEFORE

"Star Trek is a franchise that probably means more to me than DC comics, Cassandra Cain included." Time to request Cassie battling Armus, getting totally covered in its oily, black evil... >D

Animation seems like a better fit for portraying the Federation. Live action budgets/schedules mean most of the characters are human. It's a bit counter to the whole idea of the Federation in that it's a coalition of hundreds of planets.

ScarySerum

it's a reasonable question!

I've always loved Star Trek. My parents didn't wanna baby sit and took me with them to a Trek convention when I was four, where I got to meet one of my favorite characters at the time. My mother pointed to Michael Dorn and said, "That's Worf!" I was like "Where his forehead?", which very quickly made my mother hush me up. :P

Mythos

Aw, yiss!
