Y'know, IIRC the Boris Karloff movie, which became the main public image of the Mummy, was inspired by a host of gothic novels. And in most of them the Mummy was actually a sexy lady. Like in one of them specifically it was some demigoddess who would take over the world if she was fully resurrected via her ability to irresistibly charm any man. Which I guess is all sorts of fodder for either psychoanalysing the author, or providing kink potential to the audience depending on where you go.
