Added 2020-09-25 07:46:30 +0000 UTCI think unless you're paying really close attention to my twitter, you haven't seen me talk about Star Trek Lower Decks. I was really worried about this show not being good, but it turns out it's pretty fun! And the characters are all really cute and funny. Being a modern star trek spinoff, comes with a lot of risks that it'll be bad. And combining that with modern adult cartoon humor, could be especially bad. But hell, I'm really enjoying it. It's like a Cassiopeia Quinn comic with a bit more blood and more The Office style subplots.
Also I think I have a crush on Beckett Mariner, here.
Anyway... holy cow. Did I just get ten new patrons on Thursday or something? A whole lot of you joined in and that's incredible. Thank you so much. I agree as i look forward to the next episode of lower decks unlike with Picard. Tho you should do more star trek stuff as it has alot of inspiration stuff for your artwork, like “oops loaded the wrong holodeck program” ;) or like rubber themed borg for halloween. Also when they showed a statue of O’brien as the most important person in the future i laughed so hard as its totaly true.
2020-10-01 19:14:41 +0000 UTCI've been pleased with Lower Decks as well! I thought it started off kind of rocky, with a lot of the humor being too...obvious? for me? And the characters were really annoying. But the last three or four episodes, I've really enjoyed, and I thought they hit a good balance between humor and an obvious, genuine love for the source material. Some of the references are pretty fun deep cuts, too (I think Mariner referred to a TAS episode, The Infinite Vulcan, in the latest ep).
