Been a little bit since I've drawn bendy Colette.
Anyway, the upcoming Patreon bill is probably going to be different for everyone living in the United States. I mentioned this a few times, but not addressed very deeply, but Patreon to comply with local laws in the United States will start adding tax according to the value of the goods delivered via the Patreon.
Now... this is PROBABLY going to be a mess for a little bit, while everyone figures it out. So bear with us if there's any confusion for a bit. The short story is, I don't expect there to be any more than 40 cents at most for average patrons to the high res tier. Neither I nor Patreon see this money, and the exact charge will be determined by your local state laws on digital goods.
As far as what kinds of goods are being served, I've settled on three different categories of goods which may affect the taxes you see.
-The Sketchblog
-The Discord Community
-High Res Downloads
For the record, I listed the sketch blog as the biggest portion of my Patreon's value. This isn't scientific, I just put more work into managing the sketch blog than any other part of the Patreon. The Discord community is a bit wild. I'm sorry I haven't added a proper welcome page to it. But it is a pretty significant venue for how I interact with you guys. The High Res Page goes to the more expensive tier, and counts as exclusive digital downloads so they'll get taxed accordingly.
Again, at the MOST I expect a possible 40 cents charge. Many of you will see less or nothing at all, depending on what your local laws are. But keep me posted. I'm as in the dark on this process as you guys are. If you've got any complaints, let me know.
Thank you all for sticking around this month, this year, and all this time. It's been rough. Let's get through this. Take care everyone.
