Some Colettes from the Archive

Hey folks, can’t lie. This hasn’t been the most productive month. But I guess to be fair to myself, it hasn’t been the most productive month for a lot of people. While a small number of heroes are working their asses off trying to keep the rest of us safe and alive, most of us are being tasked with staying home and chilling out. You’d think that wouldn’t affect me a lot, and for the most part you’d be right. But man... computer issues hit me at the wrong time.

Anyway, hope you don’t mind I just take a moment to post a smattering of drawings. You might not be able to tell, but each of these drawings were years and years apart. It’s been so long it’s started to blend for me. But that sorta perspective makes me appreciative of just how much this one character has done for me in terms of being a great artistic subject and just sorta keeping me sane.

I’ve thought about this sometimes. Most artists have their favorite subjects but many of them move on from one person or another. But there are people who sorta really fall in love with drawing one or two characters. I always think about meeting Dean Yeagle, drawing Mandy for decades, whose grown into this old grandpa but still drawing this pinup girl that loads of people love. And ya know... I guess I’m just about on my first decade of Colette drawings. I think I’ve got a few more in me yet.

I dont see a problem with an artist having a favored subject. Obviously, we're not advocating getting stuck in a too-comfortable zone but theirs nothing wrong with doing one thing in particular very well and capitalizing on that fact.
